  1. 101 000 035AB for a VR to be precise, yours for around £9.87 inc VAT (Each) And who says VW are a rip off?
  2. Get a pack tight get! Usually come in packs of 4 - a somewhat annoying number for a 6 cylinder car.
  3. Do it MM, being a Rado and Pearl Green rocco myself it is the way forward :thumbleft: (Especially when the 'rocco is chucking out 47 mpg too)

    Hello

Hello and welcome, Don't buy the first one you see. Don't be scarred of high mileage on either the VR or the G60 as long as you have reciepts for timing chains on the VR and a charger rebuild on the G60. I would also look to budget to get most of the suspension bushes and dampers + springs replaced as well. You will definately notice the difference in the ride and handling, there are plenty of threads covering these topics. Not trying to put you off getting a C more letting you know what you may be in for and what is worth doing to get the best out of the car, or already added to the car/s you are looking at.
  5. Never usually see a C on my journeys to and from work but went past one last night in Lechlade at around 11:35, anyone on here?
  6. Not keen on the plastic cracking sounds as it get loaded onto the trailer. :?

    Cleaning strips

Use a clay bar, it was the only bit of my car that benefitted from the claying but it has made a big difference to my rubbery trim bits
  8. Heh, quality. Cheers Dom I though mine would be bit of a hard one to do. BB you are in the lead with two of these!
  9. I also watched Vince set my C up on his shiny machine and it is a twitchy beast to say the least. I would agree with the rear bearing check as the installation procedure for these is a bit vague at best, the force required to get the shim to move is going to vary depending on the strength of the individual involved. As with all new parts fitted they will bed in so the bearings are the likely option. It is also worth getting the rear beam bushes done as you have changed most of the other suspension components! I would also be interested to know how accurate the cars were set when the left the factory what with the amount of 'set-up' in the rear beam brackets.
  10. I nearly got a mk 2 golf GTi as my first car and was gutted not to have bought it. Just decided one day that I was going to track a C down and get one, was after a VR as a preference. Ended up hearing about a car for sale from a friend; his boss was selling it. Went to look at it, he opened the garage door and my jaw hit the floor - G reg and in a better condition than my current R plate 306 (Crap car). Went out for a spin, loved the ride, and refinement and had the cheek to get him to knock £1250 off his asking price too! My 'rado was my first VW and I now have a 'rocco as my daily driver. Both cars are capable of putting a big grin on my face. The 'rado still continues to remind just how far ahead of its time it was - especially for the price they originally retailed for. It is all the little things that make the difference on a car that was designed in the same era as a metro! Still love the aggresive stance from the front and the smooth curve along wing into the door and rear quater culminating in the spoiler. You can tell that very little was lost from the original concept sketches along that line.
  11. Sounds like you have already made a decision and are leaning towards the bike. You could do the 'rado over a period of time and some of the greatest gains will be made by stripping all the excess crap out of it.
  12. Hell no. I have never seen a C towing anything *shudders* nor do I want to. It was the size of the thing that was causing the headscratching, then you said they were very rare and it clicked in - I can't even name anyone with a towing arm on there C; its just not a done thing. (And every other C in Trowbridge is one of 2cc's then mine then one of 2cc's... :D )
  13. Towing arm cover - its gotta be.
  14. Looking at the pic at the start of this post it is a VR as the limits for the set up are shown at the top of the boxes. The front camber is adjustable of course so that should not be a problem. We are not talking about a huge amount of error here - a total of 60 minutes on one side and 16 on the other. It is just as possible that some serious wear in the rear beam bushes could cause this amount of error. We don't know the full state of the car, mileage etc and as such it is difficult to make an informed best guess.
  15. Not unless its missing the parcel tray section that sits underneath, its a bit of an oddity. So far I have thought of radiator trim thingy, lots of varrying dash panels and a few more but the 'its rare' comment has thrown me even furthur! My shot in the dark would be an airbag trim cover.
  16. Ah, can get them from work, not sure if they will be the right diameter though.
  17. Well looking at the image it around 30cm long and 10cm wide, the date pattern stamped on the back indicates a part from a later car and you have also obscured the last section of the part number. Its fairly dirty but not that dirty that it sits on the outside of the car, humn. I suppose it it obvious from the other side!!
  18. Just dropped them an e-mail asking for the demo disc..
  19. Have a read of the 'definitive what exhaust discussion thread' The other problem you may have is that your old exhaust would have carbon build up etc and the engine will be tunned to your old system. By fitting a new system you have altered the back pressure in the engine. The new system is much cleaner by comparison and will probably be of a slightly larger pipe bore; as such the car should benefit from an engine tune. Did you have the CAT changed? Did the old CAT have anything in it? (It is not uncommon to find the internals of a CAT removed) I may be talking absolute crap here.. so if someone would like to correct any errors please crack on.
  20. I have an Air Flow Meter listed (I assume you are talking about the metallic tube just next to the Air Filter box) up to chassis number 50-R-015-000. Part no is 021 906 461. I am going to make a guess and say that you mau have a superseeded part. The Air Flow Meter for chassis nos 50-R-0150-001 on is 021 906 462
  21. The alarms themselves are not that expensive, you pay for the fitter to put one in and a proper job will take a good few hours! I know that you can buy a Scorpian Cat 1 full closure alarm and imobiliser for around £100 inc VAT delivered. You can fit it yourself if you are happy with the electrics side of things. You will also need to get a certificate from a registered alarm fitter to give the insurance company to prove that the system works. You can get any fitters to issue a new certificate as it is common for people to lose their certs especially when buying a 2nd hand car. I think this costs between £50-75.
  22. I have just had a look at ETKA for the shims on the rear axle and I can't find any shims listed. Anyone know where you are supposed to get these mythical items from? (Apart from Vince obviously!)
