That VAG number is still coming up with no record on ETKA, even on an ATP search. Any extra letters or anything?
-
Ok this must be about number 8 now.. It round the wrong way, 5 first then 4. And its Graham E.. Graham E
-
Nick VR6 is right, bit easy..
-
Ok heres another one..

Yup I hate this one with a passion as well. I do tend to make a habit of coming up the inside of people on two lane roundabouts and giving a quick toot on the horn when they start to drift towards me. I consider it a reminder of how the bloody things are supposed to work for idiot in the other car. (Only do it in the 'rocco though never the C) Another great one is incorrect indication at roundabouts, look at the large reflective sign before you get there and it will tell you want lane you should be in and as such when to indicate and in what direction! Passing a driving test is seen as a necessary evil for some people not gaining a skill which you practise and improve upon..

Heh number 3 has a key in it so it must be VR6 as he is always locking things..

I had mine changed last year after I managed to shoulder my original one trying to get the handbrake handle off  It was an RAC mobile fitter and I was already tetchy about getting done after reading some other posts on the forum about windscreens. It took him over 3 hours and I have not had a problem with it, not that this helps you but it does seem that the quality control of the courses they send these people on for training in how to do their job varies a great deal. :cuckoo: I think the other problem is that we are all very protective of our cars - unlike the average Joe who wouldn't notice most of the damage or poor workmanship. The fact is the population at large in this country has no idea how a car works or how to look after one anymore :(
-
Heh no wonder they don't care about speeding fines!
-
The other problems are the water temp gauge (running at normal) and the gauge in the bottom of the rev counter. If I remember my BM's correctly that is a fuel economy meter and it would be no where near the middle at that speed and those revs! (It is also worth noting the new road car speed record set by the Bugatti is a mere 252mph)

Mixed opinions from the US on my car and Bens car.

I think half the problem with the TVR dash is that it does not come across too well in pictures, it looks awesome in the flesh but photos tend to distort the proportions of the dash and it can look a bit OTT and odd. Everyone has made some good points and as always with all things styling it comes down to an individuals personal taste. -

@ Lee I was not having a pop just indulging in some light hearted banter, it is pretty obvious that they are two different colour cars. I thought it was obvious as I was taking the pi$$ out of the way they spell colour but it must have lost something in 'on-screen' format. :) -

Americans - colours, sorry colors, are just way too complex for them!! -
Heh, had to do a double take. Quality!!
-
It's not that bad! Although the 'rest' of the show had left by the time we finished taking the pics! It all went well until we started to move the cars out of the line at the end but I will leave that tale for Nick to relate as he did it.. (If anyone else wants a big pink flag, try Argos - the fuscia pink bed set for £9.99)

Quality I have been waiting for these to surface since E38! I wasn't drunk Dom it must have been the heat that got to us

After helping 2cc with his rack on his valver a couple of weeks ago I can recommend removing the entire subframe too, if you split it at the balljoints it wont shag your suspension geometry either. Just split the tie rods from the hubs and the PAS pipes and that should be it. The pinch bolt that hold the knuckle in place is a bit of a swine to get at as the sodding rubber boot insists on droping down all the time. The other advantage with taking the entire subframe out is that is gives you something to stnad on if you are just swapping out the track control arms! 'How to' in progress for this job just need to get around to the write up.
-
After a long day switching my inlet & exhaust manifold gaskets and the flexi coupling thingy (Yes that is a technical term) on my 'rocco (Pain in the ass get someone else to do it!) I can say that 2cc is still recovering from his exertions to Karman and back. To be honest I would skip E38 next year if it clashed with a prospective Karman trip as it is something that I would really like to do.
-
As if you are not going through enough 'I want another Corrado' symptoms Jim without driving Chri's and Eric's! Or did the trip get it out of your system for a while? If there is a Karman trip next year how about going down/up/over to the 'ring as well so we can all have a blat around?

24V Renshaw - 24V V6 - Just read the whole thread!!!!

Ouch. Glad you made it E38 though with the car intact. On the subject of protected no claims I think you are allowed 2 claims in a year then none for a period after that. And like you said at least it will look VERY shiny for the PVW shoot (you probably were toying with the idea of a front end blowover anyway!) -
No Blackcat you are right, ABS is not fitted to early valvers - not sure about G60's and it was standard on VR's I think.
-
Only kidding Jim but all that swapping between countries and LHD and RHD cars would be confusing (And yes I enjoy driving Chris's VR too - when he lets me) Nice keyring but what are the wheels? (Being anal now!)
-
Heh makes my 16v 'How to' look somewhat over the top..

Because you are not dealing with Highway you are dealing with a broker, in this case Flux and Knott, they both add an amount to cover their costs and this will vary. I believe that insurance companies have a low offer for your first year and then wack it up in the second year on the grounds that some people wont bother to look around for a better deal. In this case Knott's would have had a hefty £400 in their back pocket from you. I had a similar case when I went to reinsure my 'rocco earlier this year. I was with Elephant but Admiral quoted me about £75 less. What is really stupid is that they are the same company in the same building!
-
Er Jim it should be easier driving a left hand drive car on the wrong, ahem, side of the road  Tempest have you started to translate the 30 page document on the Corrados creation you mentioned just beofre you left? *drools*

DW is right, you will need to take your old flywheel, clutch and clutch cover off of your knackered 'rado engine and fit to the 'new' golf engine. Luckily it is just a straight swap although you will need 6 x new bolts for the flywheel to crankshaft as they are a one shot item.
