  1. has your hub got the pinch bolt that holds the ball joint in place? if so, did you take it right out and not just slacken it off? you do have to smack the crap out of it though!
  2. if you want a hand im about this weekend. i have all the tools you need to do this and i done mine the other week. wont take many minutes
  3. just have a go, whats the worst that can happen?!
  4. no worries mate. well as you can see from RW1's pictures, the correct sender has 2 tags on the bottom of it which clip onto the body of the pump. you need to prize these away from the pump and slide it out from the top. if you can reach the clips in situe then you should be able to take the sender out with removing the pump. however, you will have the cap and 2 pipes in the way while you are trying to do this, so it would be just as easy to remove the whole pump and slide it out. as RW1 said, twist the pump anti clockwise and remove from the base of the fuel tank, then slide the whole lot out. make a note of which way the sender sits in the tank (on the right of the pump as you stand at the back of the car)
  5. nah I'm good thanks!just replaced all mine with vdo stuff![/quote:1r0lzkqy] No problem, i was jesting anyway.. well partly  Im going to ask you anothe question now. Can the sender be removed and refitted without taking the pump out of the tank?[/quote:1r0lzkqy] i think its do able. i will have a look at the spare pump and sender i bought. in fact, ive got a spare sender that you need if you want it? i dont know if it works cos i took it out of a scrapped car but i cant see why not?
  6. nah I'm good thanks!just replaced all mine with vdo stuff!
  7. yeah it looks like someone has replaced the fuel pump at some point. the original pierburg fuel pump is no longer available so has to be replaced with the VDO pump and sender. lets hope you can take the pierburg sender back and get some money back. if not, sell the pierburg one to at least cover the costs of a VDO one
  8. have you tried calling a local windscreen fitter rather than a national company? i had a mate of mine replace my screen and it wasnt that expensive
  9. i can see your pictures properly now im on my laptop. the sender you have bought is a pierberg one (expensive). the sender you need is the VDO one (cheaper) part number 535 919 673 C rrp 57.53 + VAT. you actually have a VDO pump which has been replaced at some point because it has jubilee clips on it. the cap on top of the fuel tank is a pierberg cap, VDO do a black one. aint that confusing! oh and i want 10% of the money you have just saved
  10. The sender you have is a pierberg one. The stuff pictured earlier is vdo stuff. Your sender has two wires going into a little plug on the side as opposed to two seperate wires on the vdo one. Your sender has two clips on the side which just slide and clip in. Job done
  11. ive just done the same thing and replaced my pierberg fuel pump for a new VDO one and changed the sender. what a chore! i would have loved the bloke who designed the fuel tank and pump to have been there so i could have dropped kicked him! would it have hurt to make everything a little easier to work on?!

    new fuel pump

i have just received a new fuel pump from TPS, and it looks like a need the new sender to go with it (new pump is different to old pump). however, the two fuel pipes that run from the inlet of the fuel tank to the top of the pump could do with replacing aswell. anyone know where i can get something similar from? VW have discontinued the pipes now, so no new ones available. the pump is the all in tank one, part no: 1HO 919 651 Q new sender should be part no: 1HO 919 673 F its for a 91 G60, any ideas would be greatfully received, Rob
  15. So am I! have some nice new suspension on order now and will be replacing my tyres very soon so hopefully it will be bob on again! So you think et30 will be ok on my car Kev? I think that should clear the coilovers ok?
  16. I think I've finally got this one nailed now! Aftr having non gen wishbone buses fitted, the car handled better briefly. So I dropped it off at a vw specilist in the area and he had a good look. He concluded that the wish one bushes that were fitted still had too much movement. So he fitted genuine Audi tt bushes (like Kev said) and problem solved! Corrado feels much better again!
  17. Just had exactly the same problem with my car. Changed my wishbones for non gen ones and although they were new bushes, they were crap. Had Audi tt solid ones fitted and job done. The bushes were about £20 from TPS
  18. funnily enough i was thinking about how to make my bonnet cable bracket unbreakable again! good work!
  19. I had my rallye cooler recored by pace products in Haverhill Suffolk
  20. they may have crossed at some point, but ive got a crap memory! im using a K03s on mine. its MBE management with a pretty standard engine. the turbo is running at its absolute max though! I was going to upgrade to the K04 but im not prepared to sacrifice my low down power for about 20bhp of top end power. i think my set up is perfect for my car, exactly how the car should always have been! sorry to the OP, but this should encourage you to get the conversion done, you wont regret it!
  21. the difference between a stock 1.8t and the standalone version is night and day! i would say that a generic remap probably isn't as aggressive as mine either. i get 20psi around 2500rpm and it just goes! when you are up this way Kev give me shout and you can have a go, see what you think
