Is it worth just replacing the tensioner bolt to the later type on its own, without changing the actual tensioner? Its just, I know the tensioners are ok on my car just now, but it might be a worthwhile precaution swapping the bolt.

Yip, part number required is 1H0 919 651 Q and looks like the one in the left of this picture: If it looks like the pump on the right then its the wrong, 3Bar pump.

8) what suspension kit did you go for?
-
The sender slots into the side of the fuel pump. The slot on the newer fuel pumps is about 1 1/2" wider than the old ones. I dont know exactly when they changed the fuel pumps over though, so it might be worth waiting till you get it to see. I got 4 of the smallest jubilee clips halfords sell for the pipes between the fuel pump and top cap, and 2 of the next size up for the main pipes on the outside of the top plate, sorry, cant remember the size. It was something like 5-9mm and 8-12mm clips.

I got that in the car too! Not bad... More punky than I'd imagined, but its really grown on me. "Girls" has such a phat and groovy bassline, I love it :) Another here with that album in the player just now. 8)

Yip, golf box is a lot squarer than the corrado one. I reckon the bottom half from my 2.0 16v would have fitted the vr though.

I enquired John in the past about this, im sure he said to tell him where its going to be mounted and he will supply hoses of the correct length. I really should get round to ordering this soon. Group buy?
-
Which is ok as youve ordered one from the stealers, how much was it? Im running an old g60 pump just now and will need to order a new one from vw.
-
Oh, and dont go to euro car parts for the new pump, they have the wrong one listed so will sell you a 3 bar pump instead of a 4 bar.
-
I done this a few weeks ago, you will likely need to buy some jubilee clips as well as the VW clips need a special tool. 1. Remove cover in boot floor, 3 screws. 2. Remove plug and hoses from the cap on the tank. 3. Loosen the locking ring by tapping with a big flat screwdriver and hammer. (Seriously, its very tight.) 4. Remove ring and moove the cap out the way as much as possible. 5. Grab the fuel pump and twist till it unlocks, it will then lift out. 6. Swap pump over, refitting is the reverse of above. You will probably need to buy a new fuel gauge sender as well as the g60 pumps have been superceded by the same pump the vr6 uses and the sender is different.

Yes, definately replace the rear top mounts. They go soft with age and collapse causing the back of the car to drop about 25mm and the car will also understeer more than it should. Heres a pic of old vs new I got from Mike Edwards.

What car are your disks from? Maybe theres different offsets on them depending on model.
-
Chris VR6nos, have u ever had your car on the rollers? Just wondering if the vf kit lives up to its claimed 270bhp. Ive seen Guy Hartleys results about the forum for rr days and his has made between 270ish and 320ish I think, but his engine has a lot more done and I think its the larger V1 or V2 charger.
-
Anyone know if im right in thinking the calipers are the same as the 288's? Or is that me talking mince. im sure I read that somewhere before.
-
I think the disks are a different offset and spacers are used so clearance might be ok then. :?
-
I think they use the same calipers as the 288's. If so this would be good as you could swap back to speedlines just by changing the carriers and disks. 8)

Tempted myself, especially as I need new tyres anyway. 8) Gotta get a service out the road first though. :| -
The main fuel hose going into the fuel rail on the g60 perishes at the end causing a smell, simple to fix. Cut a small bit off and reattach.

Im just back from fitting rear brakes to a mk3 16v about 20 minutes ago and we never seen the part you've arrowed. I made a wind back tool from a long bolt with a 17mm head, a nut to fit and a load of big washers. Put the head of the bolt on the piston, thread the nut on then the washers after the nut on the caliper. All you need to do then is hold the nut and turn the bolt, the piston will turn with the bolt once theres a bit of pressure on it.

Or keep an electric pump in your rear armrest and flatten the spare.
-
Yeah, try that. Make sure you go right through the rev range a few times in the first 10 minutes though and let the car engine brake its way down in third for a bit. Your superglued breather valve could also be affecting the mpg's if its still leaking a bit.
-
You need to reset the ecu and take it for a blast once the engines already hot. Chances are your ecu was plugged back in when the engine was cold and you have been driving about since. I never noticed any worse mpg, maybe slightly improved.
-
AFAIK the eibach spring kit is the same for both cars. My old ones are now on my mates mk3 16v and apart from the back sitting lower than the fronts, its fine.

Quaife diff without a doubt. Koni Coilovers a close second.

Ill swap you airboxes if you want the noise for free. Dont need to worry about heatsoak then either.
