CorradoVR6-n.o.s's VR6 Turbo,,now sold :(
CoxyLaad replied to CorradoVR6-Turbo's topic in Members Gallery
wow - that sounds like the V1 I used to own! -
its not seized - hes just said its cranking over. So is the engine turning but very slowly? A really dead battery can cause this. Even when you put jump leads on it, if your battery is totally donald ducked then it will struggle to turn over, because the dead battery is drawing so much current. as an experiment, either swap the battery, or if you cant do that take one of the battery terminals off and connect it directly to the jump lead - effectively removing the battery from the curcuit.

sounds like you were getting earth leakage through the headlight loom, but I would have thought that would only be the case when you actually had the lights on though?

looks very purposeful. Theres absolutely loads of space at the back of it once you have got that crappy standard manifold out the way isnt there?! -
weird

I dunno, I wouldnt have thought they would be that sought after? Who the hell can do anything with them? apart from another dsg owner whos dsg box has bust
-
which has sort of been my conclusion. I will settle with my 02M 6 speed box and a short shift kit.
-
that hole in the inlet manifold is a bad thing. I will cock up everything, get it blocked off.

best thing to do is download the dos DTA software, make yourself a lead up, plug your laptop in, then check see what is happening. You will have a map sensor on there, check what that is reading on idle and see what it does when you accelerate. I had exactly the same setup and yes it is a bitch to start at times. But a top tip if it refuses to start is to plug the laptop in, then set it to fire off the spark plugs only. This ignites any unburnt fuel in the chambers (which there tends to be a lot of for some reason) and it will then fire on the button. Does it still have power?

Imaginethe handbrake failing and the car goes on a rampage nearly wiping out an entire coastal village. Thats about it
-
best leave it in gear then! or you may end up doing a Walesy
-
is it any different? sounds like a rebranding excersize to me

the vr engine will be flowing a hell of a lot more than a g60. The much faster gas speeds will introduce another restriction/limitation of the intercooler. You might only be running 12psi, but you are probablies trying to push twice as much gas through the same orriface!

Biggerbigben - Golf sold.. another new project!

hello ben. I used the jetta syncro rear drive shafts mated to the 4motion rear inner cv joints, they fit perfectly with the wider track of the vr6 syncro rear wishbones. Yours should be fine, if a touch tight. Best thing is to try it, you will know straight away. Front wise I had custom shafts made up, twice because I balls'd up the measurements first time round. You would have thought I would have learned because I balls'd up the measurements when I put my 6 speed 02M in the mk2 and had to get 2 sets made up then! They arent that expensive. I got some made up from a company called drivelink autosport, cost me about 140 quid per set, and they are solid super tough rally spec'd jobbies. The hardest part for them was that the 4motion splines are some weird design which was difficult to copy. Anyways let me know how you get on. and yes the spline on the syncro rear shafts fits the the haldex inner cvs. -
lol thats really funny in a 'glad its not my car' type of way  edit:  check out his signature  least the guy has a sense of humour!

looks like it grew there :D

rmn's aqua blue 16v corrado...now with a syncro floor
CoxyLaad replied to rmn's topic in Members Gallery
vr6 syncro rear wishbones are wider than the standard items. -
you can clean them up with fairly good results, but it involves immersing the valve in petrol and actuating it. It works but provides that lovely combination of petrol and sparks. Adds a bit of excitment to the whole thing
