  1. thanks to Boro-boy...........minichamps C arrived safely and before my CHQ had cleared
  2. true but they are bound to be different weight wise and handling wise
  3. try Admiral's Multicar policy, got the Corrado and 993 on it for approx £800 for both
  4. AFAIK ALL VW engines from late 80's had hydraulic tappets
  5. could also be the scuttle panel area, where the fan motor vent is,its possibly chock full of leaves etc and dripping in that way
  6. think you'll find the opinions of VR owners will be pro VR and G60 owners will be pro G60 do a search first as its been done to death
  7. no hurry Mike :D ................you like them then?
  8. looking good Mike.........you out with it the morns nite?
  9. looking good so far though tbh I doubt very much you'll even recoup what you have spent let alone the value of the man-hours you spent doing its restoration......its special right enough, but its still a near 200k mile valver.....be a different story if it was a mega low-miler.......good luck at anyrate tho,10yrs down the line tho would probably be a different story right enough

    Corrado lights

believe it or not...............t'was the Corrado's lights he was taking the proverbial out of
  11. say fuel is pretty much close to £4 per gallon..........so 20mpg doubt it would be much more efficient bearing in mind the weight and size its dragging around
  12. WOW !!!!!what a difference!!!!! *anorak mode on* its a 190E not a 180E,even if its got a 1.8L engine *anorak mode off*
  13. should do,its the right pcd,7.5inch isn't too wide the only thing that might be a problem is the offset, but even then I'm pretty sure ET30 is close enough to the valvers standard offset not to be a prob
  14. keep it...........cos even if the standard of your work is high, your not going to get that much more for it than an unrestored minter of similar age/spec............it'll probably appreaciate over the next few years if you can store it
  15. it'll more than likely to passed on to the Council's insurers tbh,who I'd imagine to be Zurich Municipal...........I had a claim against the local Council(who so happen to be my employer) back in 99/2000 when a grasscutter cut the grass next to where my car was parked, the cutter never had any guards to stop stones being thrown up and the side of my BMW Compact was "pebble-dashed" by it,anyway it took me 2-3 months of arguing the point, thankfully I managed to get it through, but the insurer then told me not to park where i was parked......so in other words outside my house in a private residential street, with no parking restrictions whatsoever......anyway even though I got a result I felt annoyed at having to argue the point and it felt like I was being accused of lying anyway Andy good luck and perservere with it
  16. to be fair on Riley tho Kev the XR3i/RS Turbo engines were late 70's designs, and as for the Cologne lump in the XR4i,that was first fitted in the Granada back in the late 70's,and had its origins in the RS2600 back in the early 70's,and I'm sure you know the story of the Buick-sourced 3.5 V8 Rover used, thats dates back to the fifties, fair enough the VW range of engines have been on the go almost as long, but to compare the VR6 with an engine designed at least 2 decades(in the case of the Cologne V6) before is a bit unfair, let alone one 3 decades older.........however at the same time Riley doesn't seem to realise that what VW have done is made sure that their engines have the reliability with very little stress, the VW 1.8 16v for example is only just run in at near the 100k mark, whereas the same can't be said for the Ford CVH at the same miles.......also worth pointing out too is that the VR6 in the Corrado is only 21bhp shy of the 3L found in the 944S2 of near enough the same vintage,I never heard Porsche being accused of selling the customer short in that instance
  17. sounds like a prob I had a year ago............turned out to be new latch time, tho your one has probably been disturbed when they fitted the E/W mech
  18. either a Veyron prototype or just a full-sized design study going by the plate as Jim says
  19. piece of peeeeezzzz to change............................................take out blank switch(next to h/l switch) then push out the headlight switch from behind
  20. i was quoted £50+VAT for a clutch fluid reservoir(it had a hairline split),which for some reason was UR-quattro specific, anyway it worked out cheaper buying new fluid every few weeks
  21. you never ever get over selling an UR...........I still would love to have one,but running costs I found where shockingly high
  22. last one I had was a biggie done at an OPC(Official Porsche Centre) in Aberdeen for £600,its going to need a new clutch soon so tho but as the engine has to be removed to do it the service will be done at the same time
  23. well the thing to do is try it and prove us wrong, but bear in mind all that extra power is going to put more strain on other bits that although designed for the car, will still have a finite lifetime,I'm not saying the Corrado is the be all and end all but I'd argue that its going to be a cheaper performance proposition than any of the Lancer EVO's,its all very well saying that the Lancer's small service intervals are nothing more than oil and filter changes etc,but what if for example during one service they recommend replacing a part costing £500+ will you do so?japanese engineering reliability is only commensurate with how much they actually spent on designing and building the part, and as compared to German engineering, which of late......(the past 10yrs).....has been affected due to following the Japanese example
