Insurance and Vibratechnic uprated engine mounts
gradeAfailure replied to matth76's topic in General Car Chat
How are you finding it with the VT front and gearbox mounts? It's what The Phirm suggested for me too as there's an alarming amount of movement on my gearbox mount... Already have the front mount though at least! -
Dug out Erykah Badu at the weekend, which made for some relaxing driving in the sunshine... 8) Have got Sigur Ros - Takk, and the new 65daysofstatic cds to listen to though, so they'll be going in this week, along with the Deftones B-Sides cd... :)

I get 40p per mile, which just covers it if I have to use the C! Fortunately that's very rare, so hooning about in a 1.7TD Corsa van is usually order of the day...
-
Did you go for OEM or poly? I'm about to get mine done, and The Phirm poo-poo'd the suggestion that you lose the passive rear steering with polys - is this just a cunning tactic because polys can be fitted with the rear beam in situ whereas OEM ones have to have the beam removed for them to be pressed in? Good to know that it'll make a difference though! Think I'll do all the wishbone and arb bushes at the same time... :)

As in without a lock hole? TuningWerkes supply the Cult Society ones...

Recaro seats and interior, what are they worth?.
gradeAfailure replied to red corrado16v's topic in Interior
I think the Recaros tend to hold up a lot better than the standard seats... I suppose it all depends on how fat the arses in question were! -

Is it the white one on eBay...? Cloth Recaro interiors can fetch between £6-800 on a good day if they're in good nick... -
Both rear wheel bearings of gone MORE HELP NEEDED!
gradeAfailure replied to Not_Aircooled_or_Taxfree's topic in Drivetrain
Do GSF sell both the SFK and the Jap ones then...? My rear bearings are being done at The Phirm tomorrow (simply cos it's too cold for me to be bothered!) and they'll be sourcing the bearings for me, and I suspect they'll come from the ubiquitous GSF seeing as they're right by one... -
That's 321lbf and 195lbf for those of you watching in b&w... ;) Hell, I'd love 321lbf!
-
Hmmm, with the amount of decent cheap wheels on German fleaBay, I'd have thought there might be, but I dunno if it's be enough to live off... :) Give it a shot in your spare time though, see how it goes!

Good stuff! Hope the op goes well too matey... :) -
felgendeckel.de on ebay.de - tis where I got mine... I think Supergolfs do em too...
-
Nope... Your best bet would be to get some of the crystal all-clears and tint them blue I'm afraid...
-
works on mine too... ;)

Condition and how it runs are increasingly more important than mileage these days... Make sure it's not too tappety and that it idles and revs smoothly... Bear in mind also that the most engine wear happens in the first 5mins of driving, so 150,000 miles of motorway driving is less damaging than 50,000 miles of trips to the shop... ;) Good luck!
-
Ah, but that wouldn't go after a few mins of driving... ;) Mine does it too, and I don't think it'll be the chains as they were done recently...

If the fan's not coming in then it's most likely the thermoswitch in the rad - you can bridge across the pins in the connector to check if it's working. Even though I have a VR, I don't know where the heat exchanger is yet  someone who does will be along soon...! It's not a major job to replace it, but the coolant does have to be drained...
-
Yeah, that does sound a little high! VW say to pull over if your oil temp reaches 140... I'd say get your heat exchanger (oil cooler) replaced, possibly the thermostat too, and have a full coolant flush and refill just for the hell of it... Worked on my Passat, dropped the oil temps by over 20deg...

Stans 24v - Its been emotional, bye bye
gradeAfailure replied to Stan 24v's topic in Members Gallery
Hmmm, wonder if I can get the money for PSI to do an R32 for me... ;) Looking forward to seeing this at some shows Stan! Good work... Doesn't it cause a problem having the air filter right in the middle of a hot engine bay though? I'd have thought a modified BMC would be the way to go to make sure it's getting cold air not hot...
