d) gets my vote - saw a MK3 Golf at the last NoRice with TT Comps in gunmetal grey/anthracite with a polished lip and it looked the bomb...
-
You're all mental...

Woolies Trim to a cheaper version of Alcantara called Alicante... http://www.woolies-trim.co.uk/News.html

Hahah, he's all birded up, remember?! Looking sweet though mate, and yours is a metallic too, n'est pas? Hmmm, think I may have to get the 'rat's bodywork sorted out at some point, and your guy could be the man for the job...
-
You might wanna shorten that link a little...! ;)
-
Who do you wave at? And do they wave back?
gradeAfailure replied to dinkus's topic in General Car Chat
I don't wave at anyone, mostly because I know nobody looks at my car and sees it as a modded dub! Pass modded MK2 Golfs and such all the time, but none of 'em give the 'rat a second glance...! -
What size socket is it approximately...? My passenger side bearing is humming a little bit [/understatement] so think I may be attempting this before long...
-
Lush wheels mate, very nice! You want bargains though? My rare-as 17" Borbet A's were £230 delivered from Germany, and I've just gone and bought another set for only £117... ;)
-
Spend the 10k on an E36 M3 Evo - yes, you will then be a BMW driver, but sod it! I've been a passenger in one and they really are a great all-round supercar - 321bhp, RWD, great handling, and awesome motorway mile-munching ability...
-
Hahah, I drive an old man's car, so five seats and leather! Actually, I like something a bit different from the norm, which is why the Passat caught my eye on Farnham GSF's noticeboard... 0-60/quarter mile/handling/top speed?! With a 2.0 8V?! Not bl00dy likely mate... ;)
-
Wow, I never thought this thread would get many replies! Heheh, though you all have Corrados to be proud of - I do get a lot of the "but it's just an old man's car!" and "you've spent how much?! you could have got something decent for that!" type of comments though... Coming on here and getting even one compliment on the 'rat makes it all worthwhile though, cheers guys!
-
It's such a crying shame that people are having to break really lush Corrados just to make the money back... I dunno about anyone else, but I'd feel guilty as hell about breaking a perfectly good car - I'd rather suffer the financial consequences...!
-
Higher offset = sits further in Lower offset = sticks further out IIRC, ET42 is just about right for a VR...
-
Nah, they're still the TT Comps at the mo... But wait till E38... ;) Glad to hear you've got it sorted, bet you missed that VR howl!
-
For me, it's not the money thing (£2.5k on a Passat and rising?!), and the people at work I couldn't give a toss about - it's the ones who genuinely are my really good friends who, rather than say "that's cool, I don't get why you do it, but fair play to you for doing something you love", will actually call you sad behind your back... BUUUURSAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR! [/Ridcully]
-
...when friends take the p1ss about the amount of time/money you spend on your car? I have a lot of good friends who just don't understand about the dub scene, and who do have a tendency to laugh at me behind my back about it 'cause they think it's sad that I spend time on the forum, and get excited when I managed to do my interior illumination colour change and stuff... I know they're only joking and that, but it does really tend to get me down when people that I count as my friends think that something I care deeply about is just a bit of a joke... :( Anyone else get this?
-
Yeah, pop to your local garage, chuck 'em a few notes to take the tyres off, get em powdercoated, then shove the tyres back on! Job's a good 'un... :D

Nah, it missed out "girlfriend looks like a KFC Megabucket"...!

what else chews a hole in your wallet??
gradeAfailure replied to jazzdevil's topic in General Car Chat
Hmmm, well my £6k home studio took pride of place till I had to temporarily de-camp to the 'rents, so it's now in storage not getting used... :( As is my original 1970s Braun Nizo Super8 film camera... Oh, and I have a Hoffman Dirty One-Thirty in bits in my garage that I was planning to rebuild too... And my Carrera road bike as well... And my Blueprint board... Hmmm, maybe the 'rat will be the first project I actually finish! -
Well, there's a 1990 Nugget yellow valver on here at the mo for £2400 - but it does have leather and the mileage is only 76k...

I think Furki's running 205/40s on his 9 inch rear wheels - check out his members gallery thread... -
differences in wiring between late and new widow switches
gradeAfailure replied to chimo's topic in Interior
Converting early Corrado electric window switches to late-spec Driver’s Door Early wire colour---->goes to---->Late wire colour Green---->White (Pin 5) Grey/Black---->Grey (Pin 3) Grey/Red---->Grey/Red (Pin 4) Black/Blue---->Grey/Blue (Pin 6) Brown/White---->Brown (Pin 1) Green/Yellow---->Green/Yellow (Pin 2) Passenger’s Door Early wire colour---->goes to---->Late wire colour Green/Yellow---->Blue/Yellow (Pin 5) Grey/Black---->Grey (Pin 3) Grey/Red---->Grey/Red (Pin 4) Black/Blue---->Grey/Blue (Pin 6) Brown/White---->Brown (Pin 1) IIRC, that's how I did JMC's - if any of the wiring colours are different to what you have, please let me know and I'll correct it...! I used Passat connectors for his, but I'm guessing the late-spec 'rado ones will use the same wire colours. NOTE: All of the interconnecting wires between the two switches in the driver's door are discarded - you only need the six incoming wires. -
potentially breaking a g60 - whats it worth?????
gradeAfailure replied to H8RRA's topic in General Car Chat
Only way I can afford the G60 swap is by doing what you're planning to - buy a knackered car and break it to make as much of the money back as poss - I just can't afford the bits otherwise... :( Cheers for the offer though! -
differences in wiring between late and new widow switches
gradeAfailure replied to chimo's topic in Interior
If you can bear with me, I can dig out the wiring list I made up when I converted JMC's doors from early to late switches... I'll hunt tonight, and will PM you if I find anything. Steve, would this want to go on the knowledge base if I find it? Jonathan's switches all worked first time when I did them...
