VR6 TIMING CHAINS (No noise doesn't mean all's well)
Chris VR6nos replied to GB_SEAN's topic in Engine Bay
Yeah Kev LOL I have to agree with that one! I've done exactly the same and even took a head back off once to find a nut! Chris -
I'll stick a "Pininfarina" badge on the side of a Skyline if you want one! good rates to Forum members ;-) Chris
-
but you defo don't want a VR6???? Chris
-
And i thought it was a really good idea, i sell these and could do a whole side graphic vinyl decal, and almost put a link up to the page on my site! Chris

That's just because it's a 16v and not a VR6 that benefits from the larger footprint on the ground and lack of sidewall slop that the 15" give with the extra weight of the VR lump believe me. Depends upon what you use the car for but for performance and cornering then what i say is what i've found. Chris

Very negative comments! Karma boys, Karma, or at least it's another way to offer thoughts about this 17yr old boy! The total effect of a person's actions and conduct during the successive phases of the person's existence, regarded as determining the person's destiny. This is Karma. Nuff said. Chris -
Dear me everyone seems to do these R/H look wheels with thier own centre hub logo's on them. Chris
-
Hmmnnnnn.....not my favourites either sorry, look a cheap second option. God i'm negative, must be my diet at the moment, think positive, think positive Chris
-
For the look i'd have to say my pref is for a deeper dish to get the effect else the cup3 looks better on a lowered car. I just have cheap ass Fox6 things but were free on the car. Chris
-
Sorry but those Speedline wheels do absolutely nothing for me, i wouldn't buy them for cheap, look like they are the kind of wheels that are on the car when you buy it and you replace and flog off when you have the money to buy the wheels you really want, and how many of them have you now Jim! I know this will be an unpopular statement but this is what i think and that's what makes the world go around. I absolutely love the Wheels on OSV, VR6 and Kevhaywires car, stunning with no reserve! Plagiarizing Guy Hartley me thinks I thought of doing it too! Chris

Coxy, what's your name? Which charger do you have a V1? I thought you were doing a 20v turbo so what's the score with the charger? cYou can guess the next question. Chris

GB_SEAN, yeah i agree, there's no black art though people want to make money so keep the shroud of mystery over it. Chris -
Shame i don't see him much these days, James is a mechanic and he once said that he was born to work on Corrado's when we were fiddling around fitting something. Should try and get him another one! and get him back into the scene. Paul Horrocks, is that phatty? Chris
-
Woo-Hoo! Getting excited a tad more now! Will be just great to meet up with some other CNUTS! Chris
-
Don't know, i didn't take them, James did but he lives in Durham so i always assumed they were taken there, could be wrong though. He swapped his VR6 for an Impreza and don't think he ever looks in here anymore which is a shame, really good bloke too. Chris

Plus you can change the amount that you compress it with the latest full version or spit it into handy sized chunks, more a professional tool without using a costom algorithm but a nice free one! Chris -
VR6 TIMING CHAINS (No noise doesn't mean all's well)
Chris VR6nos replied to GB_SEAN's topic in Engine Bay
I just thought i'd utter something here. My engine has 165,000miles on it and everything in the timimg chain area is fine, worn, maybe but will run like that fine for year to come so i wouldn't be put off buying a 101,000miler for fear of the chains needing changing, and in all honesty it's not a hard job, very obvious and the cams can only go in 1 way unless you aren't paying attention to what you're doing. As for £1300 to do the job, my god! that's crackers and hence one main reason i learned to be a mechanic years ago with my MKII Escort. If bits drop into the sump, good! they're not going to do any harm. You can be hyper critical but they are 10yr old cars and you can go over the top, great if you can do it yourself but you need to keep things in perspective if you ask me. Chris -

ok cool, i see! You forgot to mention the size of the discs which i think are impressively big are they not? Chris -
I like my plate K1 CPW I thought the number 1 was more special rather than have a higher number and Kirsten is my daughters name so KI is the thought and CPW are my initials, but ususlly it's true, the plate means little to anyone else but isn't that the idea of a PERSONAL plate? Chirs

They are wired in parallel at the moment because the origional speakers were just tweeters and the doors had mid-bass units so the head unit only sees what the x-overs let it so only sees 4ohms at the head unit. I think the tweeters have a 2nd order 12db per octave roll off x-over somewhere up at 12K, not great speakers but easy to make good. Chris

Audioscape moulded sub enclosure - update 21/02
Chris VR6nos replied to Kevin Bacon's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
It's been ages since i've spoken about car audio with any seriousness. I'm impressed Kev with your hi-fi. I've had a few Genesis amps and always thought they had a stunning musical clarity of sound, more audiophile than SPL. Excellent for stereo imaging and a strong front stageing. I've had a fair bit of good hifi stolen over the years which saddens me as the tealeafs that got the stuff will have no idea of what they have! I currently have a Rockford Fosgate Power 300 which is a 4channel amp and it offers a nuts amount of RMS full frequency power and is bridgeable and 2ohm stable. A 12" rockford sub and Focal Kevlar componants up front as well as other bits and bobs like crossovers and such. None of this is in my VR yet but i guess i'll try to sort it for this summer. Chris
