Front pads. When you put them back, rest the pads on the carrier frames either side of the disc. Use a dab of Copper Ease and lightly smear at all points the caliper contacts the pad's backing plates (Prevents squeal). Gently and slowly push the caliper piston back in a little with the bleed valve open (catch the fluid with a brake bleeder or a rag). Fit the anti-squeal shim ("metal circular piece"), yes its fitted to mine and is on ETKA as standard. Then put the top bolt (with a dab of thread lock on the tip end) in to secure the caliper and carrier together but don't tighten. Now swing the caliper down and the pads will be held. (No long spring clips at the top if VW.) Finally put in the bottom bolt (with a dab of thread lock on the tip) Tighten top and bottom bolts to 35Nm (25lbft). Bleed off the caliper and close up. Top up brake fluid reservoir as required. (NB: Reversing caliper pistons on the Corrado without relieving the back pressure created in the feed pipes by using the winding tool has been known to blow the ABS valves and cause permanent damage. So do open the bleed valve so no back pressure builds up, applies front or rear calipers.)

If is a late manufactured 1995 model VR6, as your details suggest, then its Bosch and VW part number 021 906 258CP. .

Nope, "Secrit VW" all round. Seem to remember Pilks NewZealand was what AutoGlass supplied at one stage for windscreens. .

Which side of the chassis number start of the VW Factory Immobilser introduction are you? Pre or Post. If "pre" then its an unknown on a separate alarm/immobiliser. If it's "post", then no, door has no connection, purely a key in ignition slot, key/coil reader, immobiliser box connected to engine ECU with ability to inhibit start up once the immobiliser/engine ECU have finished their electronic handshake. .

Try cleaning the ISV next to th ethottle body on the passenger side under the back engine cover that carries th erear 3 ignition leads. Plenty of topic material on cleaning a ISV if you search. viewtopic.php?f=1&t=97098&hilit=+isv+exercise&start=0 my third post in the topic .

Gearbox sender replaces. Route is into the instruments, then out again on a different wire blue/white stripe. Drives the speedo on the way thro'. So if the speedo is working, there is a signal from the gearbox sender. There is, unlike the anologue early C's speedo, a terminal splitter of the instrument feed to the radio, spoiler controller and engine ECU. The splitter is above the fuse/relay plate. 4 wires, white/bluestripe (spoiler controller), blue/white stripe x 3 - instruments feed, radio and engine ECU. So for a later LCD odometer instruments: 1), 2) & 3) above still apply as written 4) is now.... is the speedo working? - no, look at gearbox sender. .
-
A few things to check.... 1) Fuses S15 15amps & S21 15amps - 2) The speed sender wire is also used for the spoiler, obviously to trigger it to move with speed of the Corrado but the wire also tees off into the radio to provide a speed signal for VW radio volume control. make sure a blue with white stripe wire at the radio slot is hanging loose and not connected to the electric aerial up/down wire of the radio set. 3) The spoiler control module inside the dash behind the headlight switch is either broken or missing. 4) The speed sender in the instruments unit is not working. Known as G54. Part number 357 907 345A if it is still available. I'm assuming the original instruments are still fitted, ie. mechanical odometer/trip rather than small LCD unit. .

If you are considering a scrapper to provide, there's a list on this page link that lists all the vehicles the pack is fitted to. .

Dependent on oil grade but 10w40 & 15w40 should give you 4 bar (60psi) above 3,000 rpm when fully warmed up (90'C oil temp) and 2 bar (30psi) at idle on a day when air temp is 15'C to 20'C. Official minimum spec. allowed is 2.0bar (30psi) at 80'C oil temp. at 2,000 rpm.
-
To get correct readings, senders need to match ie. 5 bar = 5 bar gauge, 10bar..... If mixed they still work but scaling is 200% or 50% depending on match. .
-
You will have to run in the wires to the sender, 12 volt point and earth. It wasn't standard to leave it redundant in the looms. .

Try half throttle and if you can run the engine on the throttle above 1,500 rpm, then the ISV is stuck shut. If you find this, ISV needs a clean and exercise. Exercise the ISV with VCDS using output tests. Take the test past the 6 injectors and set the ISV being switched fully, ie. clicks every 2 seconds and leave it doing this for 2 minutes. Apply my trick of WD40 to the connection of the immobilser box inside the dash behind the headlight switch (if it has the right chassis number as above.). Then carefully work the connection to get rid of micro-corrosion on the contacts. It will last about 7 or 8 years before you need to do it again. If above has failed to solve, then yes it would be worth a shout. Jiggle the key in the ignition lock and see if that affects. .
-
Not immobilser characteristic as Jim states. Did you try starting with throttle at 1/2 way or just on the key with no throttle? .

It was fitted from chassis 50SK000719 onwards to the 1995 model which was October 1994 onwards. ie the last 3,325 Corrado's The only way of identifying is the boot or service book sticker against the chassis number. Or using VCDS and finding the controller 25 responds. .

The case shaped unit is the sound damper for the ISV. Not good if it's leaking around there. Be better off replacing. If its the pipe thats perished, then its 021 133 394B Don't know the price off hand. But £16 is typical. If its the damper case its 021 133 429A. Was quoted £10.90 plus VAT last week... instock at VW. .

Fitted the flat sump gasket (Payen JH5013 VR6 sump gasket from a motorfactors) last week with shorter bolts instead of the VW rubber sump gasket. Oil leaks gone. :D .

No there isn't. Two wire routed via a connection link* directly onto the engine ECU. * gear shift 16 way socket's two signal wires are connected to a terminal block directly behind the cubby hole inside the lower centre dash. Take off the fuse shelf then the driver's under shelf. It will visible on top of the tunnel. Fuse 21 Cig. VCDS doesn't look at the cooling fan circuits. .

The Maps are preprogrammed, just the integration with sensors is lost as it itsn't retained in memory if power is lost. Its all in the knowledge base how its done for the engine ECU set-up. http://wiki.the-corrado.net/vr6_ecu_res ... edure.html And if you have an Autobox, that needs setting up too if the battery is disconnected. Like this........... Using VCDS: With ignition on, engine not started. Select the Auto Trans 02. Select 04 Basic Settings. Key 000 in display group. Press the acclerator to the kick-down position and hold for 3 seconds. Release the accelerator and exit VCDS neatly all the way out to the start screen. .

If the plugs were in when washed then no, if the plugs came out AFTER you dried up the 6 spark plug recesses, then no. if you took the spark plugs out while still some water in the bottom of the spark plug recesses, then yes, but unless they were flooded still upto the top of the spark plugs, not enough. Change your mechanic! ISV has an influence on engine running with the throttle open besides controlling idle rpm. Get the Lambda fixed first before the ISV, thats a big influence!!! .

Hum is most liely the Aux Water Pump just in front of the loom connection - normal to work with ignition only :) Irratic idle - clean the Idle Stabilisation Valve (ISV). It may be sticking slightly and causing the engine to hunt the rpm. VCDS doesn't really go to cylinder level for diagnosis, good old engine know how to tackle that level. measure the ignition and plug caps out, 5k ohm each. Dizzy - Coil 5k ohm. Water into the throttle body/exhaust? - No. Would help to get the Lambda fixed! Before tackling the ISV. .

Bentley is LHD model which is significantly different to RHD UK model. Worth only as a guide but when we had nothing else, not even a Haynes, something was better than nothing. .
