  1. Could be something like the pedal position sensor or a wheel sensor. Mine was all disconnected by a previous owner. ABS seems a bit sketchy on the corrado. I prefer a car without tbh.
  2. They probably just buy them in from some large manufacturer tbh. Am going to look into this at some point. I need to do mine.
  3. The clamps each side of the fuel filter rust through and can cause leaks. Happened on mine. Took it to a garage when it was leaking and they couldn't find anything. So looked myself and noticed the problem. I think the lines under the car are pretty strong and don't seem to perish. The two rubber ones on the side of engine are worth replacing too. Did mine but must of used naff stuff as they perished and cracked within a year. Might go for branded stuff next. Demon tweeks sell alot of that type of thing.
  4. Doubt there can be much difference. As far as I'm aware the plus thing is just hub fitting differences to do with the hub nut and the splines in hub. Can't see the suspension mounting points being different. Nor the weight of the car or the suspension height which your adjusting anyway.
  5. Guy at work was in the position of buying and renting a car. He phoned his accountant and was told to buy. I suppose it all really depends on your situation. I'd feel weird washing a car I didn't own. But then I bet most people these days pay someone to do that for them.
  6. But you still own £7-8k worth of golf that you could sell tommorrow. Can't help justify the £2k of niggles though, must be a niggly sort of person
  7. I saw 4 yesterday, a new record for me, but i was visiting Stealth Racing at the time. Had two nice storms inside, was a lovely classic green one there.
  8. I bought some £11 for all four mats. Brand new and delivered. Lasted a year so far. Will probably buy another set when they wear.
  9. I'm going up to Stealth Racing on thursday, could bring my spare 70a alternator along if you want it, wouldn't want any money for it.
  10. I'm not sure about them self adjusting, wouldn't they just end up loose and eventually the alternator would rattle about. Am sure your bracket could be welded.
  11. I bought a new 90a bosch one, didn't come from VW, but was a bosch remanufactured in germany and cost about £270 :( Have a broken 70a and a 120a if you need a case from them?
  12. I have three bosch alternators, 70a, 90a and a 120a, I noticed there were spacers that fit onto the bolts that hold alternator on (would be very easy to lose them imo), otherwise the gap is too large without them. They aren't needed on the 70a alternator (from memory) but i had to fit them with my 90a and 120a. If they weren't fitted they i could see it cracking the alternator casing if tightened up without them.
  13. You give VW or some company money every month to drive their car, at the end you either give it back and have nothing to show for it, or you start the whole process again with another new car. Its a good deal for VW, as I imagine they don't lose out when they sell it on. Think you have to service it as well. But usually no insurance or tax. not something I would fancy doing but then i'm not in the situation to do so, People will convince you its better than buying a brand new car (which it probably is), But better off buying outright 2nd hand imo.
  14. I'm quite desperate for a new oil cooler. For my new engine project.
  15. Thermostat housing won't leak oil  think he does mean the oil filter housing and then the oil cooler? There are two seals on the cooler, one with the lugs and then one in the sort of cap bit. Unless you have a damaged or dodgy seal they should just tighten up and not leak. Unless your cooler or the surface on the block is damaged. Usually worth smearing both seals with a little oil before fitting to stop them getting damaged while tightening.
  16. Am sure I saw one or two on eBay recently.
  17. I would say get late ones as well, (the separate bearing and the rubber mount), the KW's should have there own spring plate that fits to the late bearing. Did i sell you the KW's? I've used late and early mounts on my car in the past, the bit that interacts with car body is the same shape/fitment. So i'm 99% sure late mounts are the best to get.
  18. About £20-£30 for the switch, not that bad.
  19. Mine kept doing this and I'm sure it turned out to be the ignition switch.
  20. yeah, i thought that, not seen it like that before.
  21. Best thing to do is get the carbon ones. Has anyone confirmed an order for anything yet?
  22. I am starting to think about carbon bonnet and wings not painted, and the rest of the car done in a black or dark grey with black or grey rims. Might go down the plastidip route.
  23. Think i've seen it on the top of some tubes, i just ordered one as it was cheap so i will find out. It was just the fact a leaky tube can cause bad idle, i didn't consider that before, there is also a seal on the bottom of tube as well.
