  1. Pas pump can make quite a noise if air goes through them.
  2. Have you seen krazy karts? I think that's how it's written.
  3. Also I find plusgas better than WD40.
  4. Sometimes trying to tighten them before undoing can help if they are rusted in.
  5. Have you got a spare key to try? I had problems like that and used the spare key that looked like it hadn't been used and not had a problem since that.
  6. Hadn't looked at that guide, not sure if its helped or not, been doing some googling and did find quite a few threads on here pop up discussing what gearboxes had what ratios and final drives, but i'm still unsure, was some people saying the corrado vr box is different to the golf one and some saying different years of corrado had different ratios. Will see what two i have and ideally just get my original rebuilt, i just know they are on exchange basis and didn't want to get a lesser box back (if it makes much difference) i won't be getting it from VW dealers just some gearbox specialist that probably won't really know about the corrado quirks and confusions.
  7. Have the original gearbox that came with my corrado and a spare that i bought with an engine from here, although it was in a golf it was a corrado engine, so i'm not sure what gearbox i'm running at the moment. Is an advert on ebay for rebuilt VR6 gearboxes at £495 on exchange. Do i need to make sure i get a certain code of gearbox? Been reading online and saw a CCM with a 3.68 gear from a G60? Its on VR6OC. Am going to check what's written on my two boxes tonight, but what would be the best option and how do i make sure somewhere that rebuilds my box does it to correct spec rather than just golf vr6 box. Am still a bit confused on all the different codes.
  8. Is there a group buy arranged for the fans or is it just the brackets?
  9. Is it Jack? Recognise him anywhere!
  10. What sort of alternator was it, i start wondering if i got fed a bit of codswhallop when i took mine to a place.
  11. Going to change mine, has anyone bought one from VW recently and know how much they cost? Looking on ebay a sachs one is £110 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sachs-Clutch-Slave-Cylinder-Volkswagen-GOLF-Mk-III-2-8-VR6-1991-1998-/360948240748?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item540a31116c Or a Delphi One is about £54 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Golf-MK3-2-9-VR6-Syncro-Hatch-Delphi-Clutch-Slave-Cylinder-Genuine-OEM-New-/291017408261?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item43c1fd3f05 Not sure what to get, am spending quite a bit on car recently.
  12. Going to check my head gasket set when i get home, its a victor reinz one, i did notice that o-ring when i took engine apart
  13. Thinking back I reckon it was once of them jobs I got my 22stone mate round to lean on it
  14. Am considering using that evans waterless coolant as well. Not sure if anyone has tried that on here yet though?
  15. Excellent, great replies, makes it a lot clearer for me. I won't bother. Engine is going to be standard 2.8 with corrado inlet, throttle body and probably the schimmel 263's, exhaust and air filter, already bought the ARP head studs so may as well use them.
  16. Another question.. Got my bottom end bits all now, so ready to have it built. I just rang up Vince at stealth and he tells me its not worth balancing anything, says he stopped doing that years ago. Other people i've spoke to have said its a must, but they don't know the VR6 engine. Is it something worth doing? A guy on vr6 owners club says he built an engine from same block as me (ebay 2.8) and after about 30miles he is taking it apart and having it balanced (he also forget to install the oil injectors so not sure if that has affected the engine.
  17. am sure there is a flat section on the moving bit of steering rack, from memory i think i used a big adjustable spanner to hold the rack and then undid the rod bit with another spanner and a hammer, plusgas always helps, i also recall them being thread locked in.
  18. Yeah am sure it did, i only sussed it when i fitted an uprated loom to try and fix it, something was making the relays click like crazy so i worked out it was the stalk connections. There is also a dim/dip resistor fixed to the inner wing on the passenger side, just behind the headlight, i'm not sure how it works as it didn't seem to matter on mine if i had that connected or disconnected.
  19. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/INDICATOR-STALK-NEW-FOR-VW-GOLF-MK3-VENTO-PASSAT-CORRADO-PASSAT-/390863565608?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Model%3ACorrado&hash=item5b0148b328
  20. I bought a non-genuine replacement off ebay for a little over £15 and works well and looks the same.
  21. Sounds similar to what happened to mine and it ended up being the stalk causing the problem.
  22. Check the clutch pedal isn't catching on a bit of trim etc. Had that on mine before.
  23. Bought a new VR6 block from Unit.15 (on ebay, sell quite a lot of genuine parts) Its a 2.8 one instead of 2.9, obviously the pistons are different. Was hoping to use my old crank, conrods, flywheel, pulley and oil pump gear etc. Have been comparing the two blocks and they both look the same apart from the bits that hold crank on and also some of the markings. Old 2.9 New 2.8 ^^^not sure if you can tell but they are different shapes. Some markings on new block, guess this is when it was made? I notice the original block has Germany etc on it, and the newer one i think it says Austria. Just hoping i haven't bought the wrong thing.
