Mine has a sensor and no aircon, but i removed the aircon and left the sensor in, doesn't seem to change anything that i've noticed.

No side lights after fitting headlight loom

I think you might be right, am sure i got them all in the right place, but will check again. -
No side lights after fitting headlight loom
Jim Bowen replied to Jim Bowen's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
Its a K2urdy loom, bought it ages ago, was a bit more expensive than the normal ones as it has VW connectors to the headlights. All i had to do was connect it to the battery and plug a spade connector into each of the old plugs that get left unplugged from headlights. With the yellow resistor plugged in or out, i got the same problem -
Finally fitted the uprated headlight loom and now when i turn side lights on, the dipped beam comes on and just stays on when i press switch to 2nd position. Removed the dim dip yellow resistor thing and made no difference. Didn't really worry but i realise i need them for MOT and thats coming up. Did do a search but found nothing so far

How do you find out a shell is twisted? Just interested. Might double check mine.

VR6 crank seal, how difficult to replace??
Jim Bowen replied to Roger Chatfield's topic in Engine Bay
Really easy, when you buy it from VW it comes with a plastic thing to help fit it, but i lost that the 2nd time and managed quite easily without. Think i used two bits of wood to gently tap it in with a hammer -
Its Waffely versatile!

Ejector seat on mine.

yeah am sure its leaking, must be very small as the level hardly goes down, had the front grill and lights out yesterday and noticed pink crust down the edge of rad, can always smell coolant when walking about the front end. I liked the rad seal btw EJ, is he a personal friend?
-
Anyone used one of them radweld products, my rad seems to have a very slight leak (a bit gutting as it was a brand new VW one and just run out of warranty (typical) Tempted to shove some radweld in as getting a bit fed up with coolant leaks now, Is it likely to be a bad idea or not? I know some people would never use these sort of things and i've been one of them in the past.

Had the windscreen done today, Chap turned up at 9am, didn't leave till nearly 2.30pm. In the first hour he commented how he had an audi R8 that took 6hrs, so this one will be another story for him  Was chuffed with the effort he put in and treated some minor rust, he even fitted a new trimming seal around the outside and i wasn't happy with it so he took it off and re fitted the old one, (which is much better) Took a couple of pics while screen was out. Cost me £290, but got the green tinted top (will get photos at some point, looks good)

I have two pairs in the garage and not bothered running them for years. They are both smoked but differ. Like a black tint and a sort of brown tint

I struggle with this as well. Lent the tool to a mate and a neighbour and worked perfectly and easily on their cars. Mondeo and transporter. I ended up buying new calipers and not yet needed to wind them back.

Hoping to drop my bottom end off with Vince at Stealth and get his advice on it. I could still see the cross hatching pattern in mine, but could feel a lip where the piston reaches the top and doesn't go past it. (if that makes sense)

Didn't work against the Porsche C4S the other day, he came strolling past me. :(

Drop a gear and floor it, cures the lazyness

I undo the crank sensor on front of engine, is a white plug that clip near the front engine mount

Am using it at the moment, and tbh, i've never noticed any difference from using syntha silver, fuchs titan or the magnatec, quite keen to try this thicker oil the other Jim has recently installed. yeah i know, installing oil :)

Yeah, think it quite normal for the crank pulley to be very slightly off, am sure mine has been in the past. I use that hylomar blue stuff (or any non setting gasket type stuff) for the timing cases, its quite common in petrol stations that sell a few car maintainance bits. Both tensioner bolts i've had, i dropped into a tub of oil and pressed it in and out a few times. Remember to turn it over by hand to check its all ok. I managed to do my cams without removing the upper chain, just pulled it off and carefully manouvered the cams

Thanks for all the info, i'm hoping he is going to sort out all the seals and trim needed. Just a quick question i need to give an answer for. He asked if i have the tinted top bit which i said yes, but looked at car and i don't think i do have a tinted bit. Now i have a choice but unsure what i want, do they look much different?

It will be useful during the apocalypse imo
