  1. Decided i am going to get a new rack and pump and probably track rods and ends. Now my engine is run in and i'm driving a bit faster i notice the dodgy steering again (which has plagued me for years now) I had to indicate and let a crappy mk1 ford focus past last night as i just couldn't go any faster  Is it something i should get through classic parts, or are there any decent 3rd party manufacturers etc? Its about the only part i've never changed and done 225,000miles now, so making me think that is to blame
  2. Lots of other colours available, wonder how the piano black might look
  3. I've taken wires to an electrical shop and they remake them, its usually just a couple of bits need crimping on the ends.
  4. I borrowed a sealey bush tool from someone on here, made the job quite easy really. He had modified it a little, but its basically a thread bar with some bits on it you wind up.
  5. Not the first time the corrado has been near the cutting edge. Took all day to think of that.
  6. I hope not. Re.wiping a remap. I took my alarm out so that isn't an issue anymore used to hate that
  7. I actually have the ctek charger. Forget it can be used as a trickle charger. Think there is part of me that worries about leaving something plugged in when I'm not there
  8. Since September i have only been using the car maybe once a week. When i put it back in garage i disconnect the battery to stop it going flat. Should i leave it connected and look into a trickle charger? Is there a downside to disconnecting the battery? I wondered if the ecu is getting reset each time i use car.
  9. I think they look odd without the rubstrips
  10. I have a US spec head on mine, it had a hole at the front for EGR, i had to buy a core plug and blank the hole off. That's as far as my knowledge goes.
  11. Could you rub them down a little and then paint them a satin or matt black. No need to worry about them fading then. I thought of doing mine and the rubstrips as all the back to black type products I've used never last very long.
  12. Yeah, i bought mine from Vince in the end, as got a bit confused and didn't want to order the wrong stuff. It still comes with Mk3 golf written on the springs though. Sits at an ideal height in my opinion and isn't too harsh, i should get a new side on pic, as the rear shocks you can adjust the height.
  13. A few of the smaller diameter ones i did use jubliee's, like the throttle body ones and header tank, those hoses don't seem to expand or suffer as much as the bigger ones.
  14. It runs inside the main section of the axle, is just a straight bar. I never renewed mine. I'd get lemforder stuff, i swear what you get from VW isn't the same quality as the parts that came on car from factory, they just get a third party to make them and stick a VW logo on it
  15. H&R Spring and koni top adjustables at the moment, i seem quite happy with them (i swear i out cornered a GT86 the other weekend). I've been through 5 or 6 lots of suspension, fully standard, Weitec, Pi, KW, tried out standard shocks and lowering springs, and seem happiest with it as it is now. I think getting rid the powerflex rear axle bushes has made a worthwhile difference.
  16. I reckon a mix, but mainly people being greedy. Sold mine for £300 and went with springs and shocks instead.
  17. I made this for spring clamps Brought the clips from here https://www.hcl-clamping.co.uk/36-rotor-spring-band-hose-clamp-constant-tension
  18. yeah they were much cheaper, i got a set of the KW1 Inox and also powerflex rear axle bushes and it was under £600
  19. The jubilee clips are a pain and either ended up leaking or messing the hose up. Swapped over all my lovely marine grade stainless jubilees i bought for spring clamps.
  20. I did find a site when i did mine, maybe try "vehicle wiring products" seems to be a name i recall.
  21. Yeah, you just push it in from the pin side and the whole metal pin comes out with the wire attached, you will need some new pins. Its a little tricky, but once you get the hang of the tool it works well. Would be worth checking you have enough slack wire left so the connector still reaches the maf.
  22. Get a terminal pin removal tool and you can pull the remains of wire with pin from the connector, you can also fit new terminal pins to each wire and just reuse the plastic connector housing. I use these ones, but only really need the green one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/0-703-99-DURITE-TERMINAL-EXTRACTION-DE-MOUNTING-REMOVAL-TOOL-SET-FOR-MULTI-PLUGS-/301836170425?_trksid=p2141725.m3641.l6368
  23. I'll have one please. I did buy a new one but it had wrong connection on it.
  24. Alternator is good. Was brand new and not many miles on it yet.
