  1. Just pretend you have an awkward flange and you've got your nuts stuck in there, they will understand
  2. Just looked it up and its called a deep ring spanner, not a drop link as i said earlier
  3. Don't know on when its being filmed etc, but would the car not of already been up for sale in order for them to film the episode?
  4. I used a drop link ring spanner, i got it from some plumbing place but i figure its not just for plumbing. Don't think i bothered with the torque settings, but do have hex bits that fit onto my torque wrench so probably could of done it that way. I think it just tightens as up to the end of the thread on the shock shaft. Wouldn't use a impact driver to do it up, i had a bit of a mishap with mine and stripped the threads on a brand new koni shock
  5. Same, i bought one but not fitted it yet, all looks as good as the original stuff to me.
  6. The nuts on mine to the cat were so rusted i couldn't even tell they were a hex bolt  Irwins came to the rescue again. Its quite tight getting access to the downpipe to manifolds nuts. You probably need to remove throttle body /air intake, and possibly the inlet manifold.
  7. I know what you mean, i seem to have piles of part everywhere waited to be fitted. Won't be long now... Finished grinding away underseal and rusty patches on the rear end. Spent so long under there and in the rear arches grinding, am sick of it, figured i can do the underside of car between the sills another time as can access them easily. Will be adding some stonechip over this so it will all end up one colour. Probably the worst job out the way now, so feel quite chuffed.
  8. Been and picked up my rear beam today. Had it plascoated. Bit like powder coat but its plastic.
  9. I started to sandpaper some fog light lenses but didn't really make much difference. Am thinking i will try it on one of those polishing wheels people mount on a bench.
  10. Were these an option wheel or just from another model? http://www.tjsportsandprestige.co.uk/uploads/cars/JW_Photos_912.jpg also these http://s197.photobucket.com/user/corrado_photo/media/TrainsandCorradoJune2007045-1.jpg.html
  11. He is a user on here, can't remember his user name though.
  12. Hopeful that they still have stock by start of next month and I'll buy some i reckon. My wiring and connectors looked pretty manky
  13. Yeah, i went with the ARP headbolts. There were quite a lot being sold on ebay last year not sure if they are still on there but paid about £200 for mine, i used standard rod bolts though. There is also a way one valve in the block that you may as well replace. Its on that pic i posted on last page, right next to the top left head bolt hole.
  14. -Used a standard replacement head gasket on mine, by Victor Reinz, Stealth racing seem to use the block gasket kit and the head kit so was good enough for me. Saw a thread somewhere about the mk4 gasket having one coolant hole that doesn't line up properly (only seen one person mention that so might not be an issue) -I used a VW water pump and chains, just didn't want to risk anything for the sake of a few hundred pounds. -Sachs Clutch kit is fine, it what the dealers supply, same box same clutch kit, only VW charge £260ish and other places its about £100-£120 -Never did anything to my flywheel, its 220,000miles old, (not too sure if it requires anything done to it) One thing Vince at Stealth mentioned to me was using some "wellseal" when fitting the gasket, but only use it on the area shown in red below ^^Where the red dot is (off the engine is where in an ideal world there would be another head bolt, and this causes a weak point so quite common for gasket to go in that point of engine)
  15. Ahh that makes total sense now thanks, i best go out and get the stonechip ordered now. Am doing almost the same as you, i have the dinitrol wax, i bought the soft and the hard one. Have used the schutz before and it wasn't as expected.
  16. Whats the difference between the stone chip and schutz, i bought the schutz, looks like the same can just a different name on it?
  17. Standard originals or are you looking for an upgrade?
  18. Didn't vw supply the mirrors to other manufacturers? Might explain why so many spare. Mclaren and tvr used them that i know of.
  19. Not sure what that is about as it only goes on one way.
  20. Nearly everything was new in the end. Hence is so clean.
  21. Yeah should be fine to turn over by hand. I've been doing mine every so often since building it. Its been sat around since August. I'd turn it over so crank pulley did another turn and then check the cams and intermediate sprocket.
  22. Yeah, i was waiting to see the "near miss"
  23. Pics from when i did mine, Vince at Stealth talked me through it so i did what he said. On the crank gear (might not be the correct term), there is one tooth with the edge ground off, this should line up with the split in the casing. The flywheel will only fit one way, one the hole/bolts is offset to the others, you will notice it when you hold it up in front of you. The pulley on the other end should have a little notch to line up with a mark on the engine cover. The intermediate sprocket should line up to 12 o'clock position as Kev says, it was hard to get a good pic And then cams should look like this, one lobe is bigger than the others, the cam locking tool only fits in one way anyway Top chain slackness is on the right side so the tensioner takes it up. ^^Think thats quite hard to get wrong, its just a case of getting the chain onto each gear wheel tooth in the right place. I rested the intermediate sprocket in the chain and then fit it to the engine. you might have to reposition the intermediate sprocket on the chain a couple of times to get it right.
  24. I had a near miss on a level crossing in the corrado years ago. I was approaching it and did see the flashing lights but being a bit dopey i didn't realise what it meant as the barriers were up so i went across. Just as i started going the barriers started to come down so i just floored it and the 2nd barrier must of missed my roof by an inch. Safe to say i now know what the flashing lights are for.... It was a raised track so going over it was like taking a hump back bridge too fast. I felt like a hero and a plonker at the same time
