  1. Things i noted when doing headgasket. I'd heard of the cheap head bolts snapping when being torqued up. Vw ones are quite expensive. I ended up getting arp stud kit. At least they are reusable and may be worth considering if you are thinking of going turbo route in the future. Vince at stealth recommended I use a product called wellseal when fitting gasket. Just a small amount and i only put it on the aux belt side. If getting head skimmed. Also get the upper timing chain cover skimmed. When fitted to head the bottom of it needs skimming to match the head. As mentioned depending on milage most people do the clutch and chains at the same time. £300 is a good price really. As long as they are up to the job. Always nice to do it yourself and feel reassured its done properly.
  2. I just built a new engine and didn't know about the mk4 gasket either. Can't be arsed to change it now so using a victor reinz one.
  3. Just one vowel away from being called Pooland though.
  4. Have heard of mums travelling to Iceland to do the food shopping so why not?
  5. Nice pic there, i think the 50mm splitter looks much better, no offence to 90mm owners but it makes the car looks a bit older.
  6. Started to pull the old material off the back last night, a very messy and sticky. The old foam backing/glue is a git to get off.
  7. I'm hoping to fit my engine, run it in and then go for a remap, would be interested to run it later in the year as well. Am hoping for 200bhp.
  8. Show me a single forum where a member has posted to say they have won one of these prizes..
  9. Worth resetting the codes, using car and scanning again. I found faults show up in vagcom if you have pulled a plug on a component.
  10. Would be nice if it was a forum car. Some non-forum owners seem to be a bit full of it, thinking their one is the best corrado ever.
  11. Have just ordered the black headlining and glue from here, hopefully i can just peel off the fabric on my liner and glue this on without any soak through etc http://www.as-trim.co.uk/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=5_200_201
  12. Its an inbuilt temperamental fault to make the forum reflect the nature of the corrado.
  13. I too went to get them clips and couldn't, they was someone on ebay selling them new.
  14. As i'm putting my third engine in the corrado, and reading something on another forum. I was wondering should i be notifying someone like the DVLA about it? Do i have to make sure the engine number is registered to the car? I have a vege head which they have stuck their own number on and the block was a new VW one, also has numbers on it?
  15. Got my lining out today. The material is falling off the backing. For now i think I'll glue it back on and dye it black. Can i use any sort of dye? Also, what's the best way to remove the sunroof trim?
  16. Doing a little bit on mine at the moment, was a tiny hole when windscreen was fitted not long ago and the repair was a bit of a bodge, so trying to fix it now without removing the screen, its a nightmare trying to the old sealant off.
  17. I don't know yet, i intend to get some and find out, i can't see it being too much work to make them fit.
  18. Will be changing my headlining to either black or a dark grey soon, i've been looking for visors from something else, Audi TT or R8 visors look like they could work, most of the hatchback visors are too deep.
  19. Is it the same for the reverse lights?
  20. I know that from all the different suspension i've had that a lot of the aftermarket springs are designed with the larger diameter top coil so you have to use the early/larger spring plates. I wanted to keep mine with late top mounts and late spring plates so went with H&R springs, Pi springs also work with later stuff. I was tempted to try H&R springs with factory shocks (sachs advantage or boge turbo), i do have the sachs shocks on the rear and konis on the front but am going to remove the rear shocks and put the konis back on as the back end is sitting slightly lower that the front and looks wrong. What is your budget?
