probs valve stem seals...classic 16v problem. Ofcourse could be rings but less likely. the 16v is meant to use around 1l for every 1000 miles (i think its in the service book). how many miles do you do and how much oil do you top up with? hth
-
could well be timing causing low power. has it used any water since you drove it? is there oil in the water? and what temp is it running?
-
looks fantastic mate, as always!! Having said that looks like it could do with a clean and polish mate
-
cheers for that mate, that not to bad for VAG parts! As usuall i have run out of time and havent managed to get near my front suspension.. Ill get it done one day  hows yours coming?
-
enjoy :-) !
-
the 52mm is smooth on the leg nearest the cam sprocket side, the 42 has like a bump on the same leg. see the 16v tuning guid for some pics: http://www.the-corrado.net/wiki/index.p ... t_Manifold edit: it is possible that yours had been replaced at some point of course.
-
well which C have you got? I think the 2l16v C already has a 50mm and the 1.8l16v is 42mm

as above guys, i have a chance to get hold of a good cheap set of shocks and springs for my mates mk3 but they came from a mk2. Im fairly sure that they will fit with the right top mounts but just want to check. cheers 8) edit look at it this way, do Vr6 corrados use mk3 golf spec shocks. if the do im guessing that they fit a 16v. hence mk2/mk3 are *basically* interchangable.

the bodykit is not to bad at least, loving the interior! keep it red and get some nice deep dish rims!
-
So you guys have not had an S before then  I started my love for all sporty VWs with an S. Lets face it both are better than having a ford.
-
that looks well! I would love to see that make it to the road. I think that the corrado should have been a scirocco anyways so it seems to be a good choice of name to me!
-
not sure why they are called that but they dont go near the drive shafts. i generally just use the box section bhinde the jacking points but would like to hear what others have to say :-)

The "what I did to my Corrado today" thread...
sciroccotune replied to Jim's topic in General Car Chat
fixed my CL today and noticed 5 (thats right 5!!) bits of old broken door handles in the door!!!! that means that my C has had 6 replaced handles   -
Won't be fitting my rear shockers today then !
sciroccotune replied to 2_Door_fun's topic in Drivetrain
they are like £11 from vag (well last time i got some) vag parts are open till 3 and normally (seem) to carry that spring plates edit: the rubber tha the top will be fine, but deffo need new bumps' -
could be contaminated witha air/water so that it compressed and made no diff. The level doesnot go up much btw, but you can see the diff.

help!! changed cams and now ive lost the time
sciroccotune replied to quicky1980's topic in Engine Bay
how’s it going then quicky1980? Just a quickl question, did you check the timing mark on the fly wheel (it’s a 0 or a circle) as the mark on my pulley end was way off. Also a question that you boys may be able to answer. I have just done my timing belt and all seems well, but what’s the best way of tightening up the hex bolts on the pulleys. I think I managed to get ‘em tight but i would like a better way than holding the pulley by hand. -
Yep yep, i have just found that also, good info that, thanks steve B!! i may make a wkki artical, as its usefull to know. :)
-
thanks guys, i think ill stick to how it is this time round,, and i may go that direction at next pad change. many thanks :-)
-
if its only a few mm diff I think its something to do with balance and engine position. My mk1 showed this quite noticeably. If it%u2019s 50mm then something wrong there as the guys say. was it alwas like that? guess you could have diff offset wheels or indeed the wrong wishbone etc as BB says? eek! but well done on the mot! :-)
-
Well i have done it  hope i havent done something stupid! What i did was use a set of 280mm carriers and the 16v callipers (was less work than changing teh callipers to). Seems to work i have to say, and from what i can see g60 pads are the same shape as 16v pads but i would like some one to confirm this. Im sure i got the idea from someone on here  also as it happens i am useing g60 pads. edit: i think it was Phil (thats his username to) that did it this way, ill pop him a pm :-) - no it wasnt lol
-
what mod is needed to do that mate? i was guessing there was a way but wasnt sure how.
-
i got new discs for £49 with club discount from ecp (disc about the same price from gsf too). dont you need some kind of adapter to use 280mm on a mk1, dont think the carriers will go on.
-
I should have said i retained the old callipers, does that make a difference?
-
Hi guys, some of this may have been said before but i just want to clear up a few things  i have just put 280mm discs on my 16v using VR carriers. My question is which pads should i use? I assume that both 16v and g60 pads are the same shape but the g60 has more compound -i.e thicker. I managed to used a new set of pads from my old set up which i had run for a while to make sure they fit (used about 2mm) Am i right in thinking that i need to cut 2mm of the sliders to allow 16v pads to be fitted new? Also is it possible not to screw the callipers back enough and cause the pads to rub on the disc? or will they self adjust? cheers 8)

becarefull, if it is not in contact with the top of the strut, then the strut will not be compressed when the spring is. Are you not missing some kind of washer>?
