  1. have you checked the fuses in the car?
  2. I agree its hot! hope its a scirocco tho - corrado is a one off and i love sciroccos and think they are under rated so this would give them a boost. again its so so hot!
  3. both nice, do they have pop off boss? could you not inter change them on a wim. if some one else had yours at a show you could swap ;-) as for the lights i wasnt picking fault, i do like, just getting into your way of thinking so to speak 8)
  4. Yeah I was thinking fluid level but when I looked I couldn't see a dipstick for it - Only the steering fluid which I don’t think it shears. I told him about the normal filler plug on the front of the box, but I could not see it as there is an under cover. Cheers for the non C reply!
  5. Lovely lee! random question; would you ever go back to normal lights on the back?
  6. did it over heat? the block could leak from a core plug, but i guess its more likely that its a bad joint of a pipe etc. where was the puddle, as in left or right side of the bay? also which car you got?
  7. Not for me but my mate has a 2l 8v shran and its auto box has started being slow to engage gears when cold and a bit jumpy – its fine when warm. My questions are: Any ideas why its doing this? Where do you fill the auto box with fluid? cheers :-)
  8. yep agree it will look good. saw a TT this colour a while back and it looked V good, a bit different! I think that the C does will with flat colours, any one want to swap a red for a yellow let me know
  9. i have 2. a tube shaped on after the cat and a oval/rectangle one before the back box. I think there is 2 on a normal system. My SS is to loud also so I spoke to a bloke at power flow and he said that its the back box that makes most of the noise. they can be more or less baffeled (sp?) to make more of less noise so that may be worth check.
  10. at least yours is in the right place, when i got my car said sensor was just loose near the air box  It goes to ground once over a temp (not sure how high) switching the fan on. If you have a over heating probl;em pull the wire and put iot to ground to get the fan on ;-)
  11. I don’t have an answer but i don’t have any grills either. I recon they just get knocked off buy clumsy people. I have had to cringe a number of times when passengers throw them selves into my car whacking the door/speaker pod every which way! grrr!
  12. halford do it now, sure they mentioned wheels. not sure about the standard etc but its probs worth an ask. But as lees says for the price new rims or maybe just paint them?
  13. as above really.... the reason i ask is that asda sell 5l for £7.50 (for 15w40) which is what i would use on the old 16v. so if its half decent thats a cheap oil change. I stuck 1l in the car tonight as it was a bit low (got a weeping rocker gasket i keep meaning to fix) and all seems well but you can tell with just 1L  but it was only £1.60!
  14. they look right. they likely sit taller as they are new and not saggy like the old ones. dit it depends on if they are early or late VR ones as to if they are swap or if need extra work
  15. installed new expasion tank -------> then unistalled it after it exploded!!! bloody eurocarparts! Also new fan switch seems to have sorted the high temp problem. it did fit with a bit trimed off :-) £2 well spent!
  16. the oil will soak up a lot of heat. as for how fast it wil happen it depends on the ambient temp etc... but if you dont ever see the fan coming on get the switch changed. i did it yesterday (similar problem) and it cost around £9 GBP.
  17. worth touching the fanswitch side of the rad and seeing if hot water is getting to it. if not the fan may not be coming on... Of course you can check this by leaving it running with the hood up and see if the fan comes on.
  18. went to the scrappy to get a new bit of pipe (the bit that connects the oil cooler, pump and head flange). couldnt find any 16v motors so got a bit that looks simmilar from a rat TD. hope to finish my day by fitting it!!
  19. They could well have missed setting the dizzy when they did the physical timing, but with a valver i would get it all checked by someone that knows what they are doing to make sure that no damage happens. The golf 16v hayes (sp??) manual is just fine for setting the timing. You could even do it to book settings with out a timing light.
  20. you 'can' get stuff, but it rearely works. may be worth a shot if its a small hole. HAlfords sell it. I guess if he jacks up the car and leaves it over night it may seal. never lasts for ever of course.
  21. should have asked if its better/same as the silver that vag do?
  22. is 'FUCHS' any good? I have a 2l16v so 10w40?
  23. your timing could be out causing it to heat up! its worth checking after you ahve tried the cheaper cooling parts.
