  1. I had the whole panel blasted and then powder coated black ages ago so it's always been black since the engine conversion. Then I decided to have a black grille, and when this was on I thought it would look better with the strip that runs under the headlights in black too - only the same texture as the grille. So I decided to spray that textured, and whils't I was at it I thought I would do the slam panel too. yeah just key in the surface with some 400. Light coats are esp important- or it pulls on concave corners.
  2. This one buddy, great stuff.
  3. Cheers Abdul, I originally was told from the sellers it was from an Audi TT, but I'm thinking actually it was from an A3 3.2, Yeah i prefer it to the Golf ones which look a bit plain IMO, and don't fit the Audi MAF anyway.. Really looking forward to getting it totally finished and sorted, all the little bits that make it spot on.
  4. Well it's been an age since i've updated this as the Corrado's been tucked up for the winter whils't I got on with more DIY, I haven't been on here much either recently, just sometimes browsing on my phone waiting for the toast to pop.. One of the main things I needed to do before I got the Corrado to mine was repair the garage floor, which I've now done and so I've now got somehwere indoors to work on the car. I went over to my parents last weekend and had a look round it. Other than a few cobwebs it all looks good. All the texture painted parts lke the slam panel still look great. I've decided to leave the black grille on for the moment- I prefer it I think. Before I tucked it away for the winter I 90% completed re-wiring the engine bay looms, wrapping the whole lot in plastic conduit and getting all the wire lengths just right- it meant taking the whole loom back out again. However hard I tried though I couldn't get the engine loom plugs back into the fusebox- so at 11pm the night before we moved house I decided to take the dash out to get better access to the fusebox. By 12.30 the dash was out and but I called it a day and the dash hasn't gone back in since, so that'll be the first job to finish followed by tidying up the bay once I know all the elecs are working properly- i've also putt in the TT fan controller where the horn goes. Then I'm off to get it set up/balanced on the scales and geometry checked over. I'm sure there's more I've forgotten- there always is. After the summer who knows, I may have to sell it to help build the garage. I really want to build my own car now! Sold the Mk2, sad to see it go :-( but it really wasn't the best for my 160mile commute 3 days a week! Bought a GT Tdi Mk5, very capable if a little sterile, I can't help thinking what fun the Gti must be, even thought of changing my better half's 330 for one, but that's been such a good car I probably won't... Anyway, a few pics for you guys. The pics are not very good I'm afraid, and my O2 leads don't go ove the airbox normally! I
  5. Looks like you could vacuum form one fairly easily. you can even get the plastic to match.
  6. Hey Chris have you thought of dry ice blasting? The results are immense.
  7. Sorry pal, I made them on the car, pic on my thread somewhere!
  8. Easy enough to make the spacers for the rear axles, not much more than making a square plate and drilling 4 holes in it!
  9. Great story! My wife has a soft spot for my Corrado even if it stands me in for a fair amount of money and hours spent. I wonder how many R32 Storms therer are now, there's at least one blue and one green for sure!
  10. Ahh no that was me being a plonker, I couldn't see the screenshots and imagined something different, but what you've done looks like it would work well. For your FEA have you taken braking and cornering forces into account? What was the max strain? I think the max g you could corner a Corrado at would be about 1.1g perhaps? I have no idea on road cars really, about the same for braking. Maybe higher if it was some sort of track car with slicks.... Could you use a ring spanner to get to the nut on the 60mm version, or is it too tall? Edit: just read Jays posts about the lateral loads...
  11. I'm not quite sure what you are explaining Jon, but what is to stop you moving the lbj mounting position on the upright/hub carrier down to meet the lbj? (other than it may hit the splash guard)
  12. Great car you have there Ritchie, do you mind me asking where did you get the exhaust flap from? The Mk5 exhaust?
  13. Neals was already sold, so still after one...
  14. I think you should give it to him! You didn't state he couldn't spot one on the Internet!
  15. Oh believe me -I hate it too sometimes!! Thankls Matt, are you a carpenter then? Hey Pete, we're having the woodburner fitted on Friday, so I've just popped out an bought a compressor to sandblast the brickwork/flint, so when you come down you should see it looking nice and clean. I think i'll probably have some re-pointing to do after that too. I'm not all that keen on some bits of DIY but I love the results. I do like woodwork now, I used to really hate it, but good chop saw and circular saw are a blessing. Cheers Sam, the house is a semi-detatched, and the lady who lives in the other half has hers like this (backs onto it), so we guessed it must be there. The destruction was almost all done with a big wrecking bar! I would love a piston lift they are brilliant, but I can't convince the other half to spend the cash!
  16. I'll take it for sure mate! Can you pm me a pic and I'll send you the cash
  17. Hi Jon, good work there buddy, if you lower the LBJ you don't need to lower the strut mounting position. Lowering the strut mount would have been a nicer way of doing it (you would have kept suspension travel) but for the reasons you've discovered it wouldn't have worked.
  18. Well at least you are doing it! Rather than just talking about it like the rest of us do!
  19. That's exactly what I planned to do on mine!
  20. Come on Kev, is it on yet.....movie clip os a must I think!
  21. Cheers pal, some random house pics for you! Note the CAD I've done of it!! What you cant see is the lift in the garage, I've been after one for years, no more trolley jacks!! Here's Pete (on here) and I opening up the big fireplace, good fun that was. jbcorrado- Thanks buddy, still not finished though, 4 years later... VW_OwneR_85- thanks for the compliments, 3.2 is the way forward for sure! I haven't got the boxes any more I'm afraid, but you can look it up at VAGCAT.com Kev- If they they come off they will be the perfect wheel imo, but well see.
