  1. You've probably already done this, but painting the walls and ceiling white make a big difference and is very cheap to do, if a little time consuming!
  2. Allen key and a deep set ring spanner work just fine
  3. The dog leg is just because the panel connection is there, and you need a small tail to get the connection round the back of the heater panel. The panel I used only had the one connection option, the one in the link has one on each side and would enable you to have a simpler central tail I think but you'd have to look at the routing. A5 is fine. The illuminated pic was without the green filter and so is just white.
  4. Just get one of these... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/A5-210mm-148mm-DIY-white-cuttable-EL-Panel-Sheet-Pad-Display-Backlight-/261104237817?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3ccb067cf9 Then cut it into shape and fit it behind the facia. You can just buy a green lighting gel (transparency) for the oe green or even print onto acetate any colours you want.... If I remember correctly it's colour 122 from Lee filters - you can buy half sheets.
  5. I used the furniture clinic stuff and it was very good- even for a colour change (although a lot more work). Definitely get the Matt, it looks just right- like the original new leather. You can buy the filler from them too to cover the cracks. The cracks are mainly in the original (coloured) coating that you scrub off with chemicals though, so if they are not too bad I shouldn't bother. It's well worth the cash, really improves the look inside.
  6. Almost certainly an earthing problem. Same fuse box s used in the Mk3 so just get one off eBay, highly unlikely that's the problem though.
  7. One of the best, if not the best looking 20v converted Corrado out there, glad your keeping it 😃

    Haters!!!

Can you explain that again one more time?!
  9. Ahh ok that's handy to know thanks! I think I'd probably still use my gun for most jobs, just didn't know how you could get it in cans! Don't worry I have an af mask ;-)
  10. Didn't know you could get 2k in an aerosol? How does it harden without mixing it with a hardener first?

    Rear Lights

I think people tend to tailgate cars they can easily see past because they can predict what is going to happen up ahead. It's really difficult to tailgate a tall van or blacked out x5 because you can't see up ahead and so could easily plough into the back of them if they braked suddenly.

    Haters!!!

The Corrado is in its teenage years still so isn't a cool classic yet- To most people it's just a car you would have if you can't afford a newer one. Therefore you must be a low life.
  13. What does the vacuum tube on the back of the clocks do if its not for the mpg? I thought that was what it was for!
  14. It was ages ago i had it out, but i think you start by sliding the roof until its half way, the pop the liner off and push it all the way back exposing the innards, then it's a whole load of jiggery pokery but it doesn't take too long.
  15. I need to replace one of those, it's not too bad, about 30 mins...
  16. HI Craig, I've been putting off having my recaros re-trimmed until I found someone local who could replicate the VW trimming nicely and I reckon yours is the best I've ever seen. I'd also be up for a meet once I've got mine up and running again....I'm just down the road near Ringwood. Your cars getting better by the day pal, looks spot on now and the re-trim just looks awesome. Could you pm me his number? ---------- Post added at 12:05 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:03 AM ---------- By the way if you want the connectors without the yellow wiring (so you can crimp straight to the wire) I have a few you can have.
  17. Mine's been effectively off the road now for many years except for the odd trip here and there. Most of the time it's in pieces waiting for me to put it back together again but I can stand there for ages just looking at it. I think I love it more now than I did when I first got it, but I suspect that's because the thought of driving it might be better than the inevitible 'what's broken now'. Having said that, if you maintain it and look after it, they are just as reliable as a golf!
  18. Yeah that's it Dave! How much pal? (light resistor)
  19. That kit won't actually fit a Corrado! The connectors are different, unless I'm missing something?
  20. I'm totally in agreement with Kev here about getting them in the car, although it seems many Corrado's are wetter inside than out! At the very least find a waterproof box to put them in, and then if they do burst into flames again the lack of oxygen will soon put it out!
  21. Use the biggest tiles possible!! If you are tiling the floor, scew hardibacker or ply down first, those floorboards will not be stable enough. Get a proper grout float (like a rubber plasterers float) it makes life so much easier and quicker. Same goes for the adhesive. Work out any relevant centrelines and mark with a pencil, then tile outwards from it. If you're using ply then tank it with Mapei waterproofing kit or the likes of. Build a false wall to hide any pipework or stick it in a stud wall, trial fit everything before tiling and work out how you are going to do any corners etc. Make sure your angles are 90 degrees before you start or it'll look cr@p. The wall I put up between the shower and bath was 90 degrees to the floor at the front edge but I didn't notice it was out at the back edge, so you can see by the time it gets to the top, it's 10mm in on the back tiles. Not that niticeable but it bugs me when I look at it... Take your time and enjoy the results!! This was my first tiling job and I'd never choose mosaics again! Also I'd choose easy clean floor tiles and larger ones means less grout. The grey grout will mean less visible mould in years to come. http://www.screwfix.com/p/grouting-float-220mm-x-100mm/18498?_requestid=378063 http://www.screwfix.com/p/mapei-shower-waterproofing-kit/78484?_requestid=378150
  22. Hi Dave, have you still got the headlight resistor?
  23. I started to do it, but then found out you can buy them online from Germany or Denmark or somewhere so didn't continue- I did a long thread on it but it's since been deleted. Since then someone else started to do it in LED's well, but I think they also gave up on it. As far as i'm aware you can still buy them. If you want to make one just cut up some EL sheet to go behind the heater panekl, works a treat.
  24. Nice work here and well documented, these guys are a good plug and connector supplier if you doen't already know about them. http://www.simtekuk.co.uk/www.simtekuk.co.uk/info.php?p=12&pno=0
