I'm with Gav here... I dropped the sump, did the big end bearings and put it back together again in under 90 minutes, so doing the pump is gonna be quicker 'cos it's only 2 bolts holding it in and lots less fiddling that trying to put shells in and moving the crank around! 8) 1/4" drive socket sets are DEFINATELY a MUST for the job though... ;)

the valves only just touch the pistons, so the chances of knackering pistons/con-rods is VERY low... The valve guides just press in... take the head to a local engine machinist and they'll lob in new guides, recut the valve seats, check the head for trueness and give it a good once over for around £80 to £100 (at least, that's what I got charged last time I had it done...) That'll give you basically a new top end which should last you another 100k miles (or snapped cam-belt... ) Valves can be bought from GSF or Euro for less than VAG money although I seem to remember that GSF only sells exhausts and ECP only sells inlets for some odd reason...

andrewdowd, a little bit of insulting tape on the wiggle-woggle will make it stay a little more errect for you, but still floppy enough to allow you to get it onto the nuts from below... The height of the engine was where we had the car up on axle stands, then jacked the engine up a little more so it wasn't on the mounts anymore, propped it on the blocks and wood, then let the car down off the axle stands... :| There was just enough room under the car for me to get in and get the nuts off... It was a bit tight though... :|

Variable intermittent wipers were introduced on the MKII GOLF 16V GTIs and were an option on the early Corrados which then became a standard feature around 1990/1 Tip: with your electric windows, press down on one window for a second to put it into auto mode and then tap down on the other window switch. When the first window has opened fully, the other window will also open without you having to do anything else... 8) There's quite a few little odds and ends that Corrados have that not every owner knows about... ;)

Who was it at Santa Pod on Sunday that parked next to me on the Dubforce stand with an Aqua blue Corrado G60? You came over and chatted to me briefly before parking up about wanting to ask a couple of questions, but when I got back from getting my timing slips I couldn't find you again... I'm also utterly crap with names, so I don't know who you are, even though I recognised you...
-
ah, OK, that was what I meant... I thought I'd mis-understood how the probe worked for a moment then...

Iiiiinnnnnttteeeerrrrreessstttiiinnngggg..... I didn't know you could do that as easily as that... 8) Yup, the outer seal isn't actually a water/weather tight seal, it's just to fill the gap around the panel... 8)

MoonlightVR, yup... absolute doddle..... ...if you've got the sunroof mechanism out of the car...  They look like an utter $hit to do otherwise... ;) :|

the dent's from when the car attempted to run over it's previous owner after I'd left it in gear and we demo'd the remote start...  I'd not noticed the "C" before! *edit * - ohh, she's made it onto the company website! clicky!

Well, here's a new one that I'll bet no-one else on here has done to their Corrado yet... Today, I tried to fry an egg on the bonnet of my car... :| Seriously.... I did...  ...it didn't work though... It just slid straight off and went "splat!" on the floor... Don't believe me? :geek: I work at a radio station and one of the presenters reckoned that it was hot enough outside to fry an egg on a dark car bonnet... :sunny: :onfire: Seeing as my car needs a respray anyway, I let him try it on the bonnet of H-YYU! :cuckoo: Here's the photos...

details as it was 3 years ago here It's got the G60 stuff out of H-YYU with it too now and has been sat in the same garage for the last 7 years (since Easter 1998!) During that time I've been buying bits for it off and on when I can afford/spotted something I wanted to try with it... I'll be doing a HUGE for sale thing when I get back from NZ in late August... 8)

got some ?'s about swaping vr6 to my g60 can anyone help
Henny replied to SleekG60's topic in Engine Bay
gauges and wiring to the gauges WILL need swapping over too... It's all a case of how close to a genuine VR6 you want it to be... You can almost certainly keep the original suspension, brakes, ABS and a few other bits, but your brakes won't be as good, the handling won't be as good etc etc etc, It's all a case of why you're doing the conversion instead of just buying a VR in the first place... :? -
stevemac, sounds like the guys in the Trafford center branch need a good shoe-ing then... they couldn't find any other than the universal one or the one for the VR6... :| think I'll just fit the universal one and do some interesting wiring while I'm in there for my A/F gauge... ;)

http://www.gpcvwaudi.co.uk sells 'em cheaper than VAG... ;)
