fog, light and heated rear switches need some red film (by far the easiest way of doing it) window and sunroof need a 3mm LED each. as walesy says, use the search, there's a big topic on here somewhere about doing this... ;) I'll lock this up now seeing as it's been covered quite a lot... 8)

also check that there's 12V on the blue wire from the stereo... could be that the stereo's stopped giving the switch on feed...
-
5.1 ain't that expensive.... You can get it from Halfords for a reasonable amount of cash/litre... 8)

have a word with local breakers... they often get passats in which you could nick the roof cloth out of... ;)
-
yup, if the timing's out you can get pinking...

VEEDUBBED, put the engine to TDC and then turn the cam 360... the valves will just touch the pistons.... Now add in some oil pressure so that the tappets are at the correct height and suddenly that touch becomes a hit which will do damage... ;) It's only just an interference engine, but when the oil pressure is up, it most definately makes contact... :(

there's a bit on the back to change details IIRC... I've not looked at the new forms properly yet though, so I could be wrong... :?
-
bummer... :( Glad to hear that you're not too badly hurt... Hope it all gets sorted out with the minimum of hassle and delay... 8)

same as yours only G60 at the end... on both of 'em... 8) (for now at least...  )

Sorry to hear about that John, it's not a nice feeling seeing your pride and joy like that... :( Hope you can get it all sorted with as few hassles as possible, and I'll see ya at E38! 8)

burgandy 16V in Trafford park at around 1:30pm yesterday... Got a big grin and a wave as I shot past... 8)

yup, with Dinky here... Change the flexys to braided and the fluid to dot 5.1 and you'll notice the improvement... 8)

Ads, you can't actually get clear bulbs which flash orange, but I know what you mean... what you need is some silver indicator bulbs... they're kinda chrome looking but flash orange... I'm pretty certain that Halfords sells 'em now, or most good high street car parts shops can get 'em too... 8)

The VW taureg's bigger... it's fecking enormous! How about an Audi S6? I think that's gonna be my next car... 8)

yup, looks to me like someone's kicked in the foglamps... :| Why not put a pipe down to the lower grille to do the same job like how the brake ducts are on some of the cars?
-
it's not sending a signal, it's earthing the signal out so that the spoiler control unit no longer gets the signal to know what speed it's doing... ;) OR: if you connect it to the blue connector on the back of the stereo, you're putting 12V down the wire when the stereo is on which wipes out the pulses so, again, the control unit has no idea WTF is going on... ;) Chris VR6nos, what's the input on the NAV rated at? IE. is there a resistance or voltage/ampage requirement for the wire that gives the pulse? I'd be very suprised if it wasn't designed to work with the blue/white wire... 8)

it either lives in a metal plate in the front bumper in the grille under the passenger indicator, or in the brake cooling duct just behind that location... 8)

there's always going to be some bitching and snipe-ing on a forum.... unfortunately that's human nature, especially when it involves something that creates as much passion (and work!) as a Corrado... the trick is to ignore the idiots/instigators and not rise to their insults or sink to their levels... :) I find that if it gets to a level I can't stand, I take a step back, take a breather and let it run its course without me... ....or I simply delete the thread... ;)

The problem with the belt going at high revs is that the cam doesn't just stop dead, it slows down first which means that you'll get a period of time while the pistons are going faster than the valves are opening and closing. When the cam stops, you're left with at least one set of valves open and normally with the pistons still moving at this point... VEEDUBBED, the G60 engine (in both PG and 1H flavours) IS an interference engine. Snap the belt while the engine's running and you have a VERY high chance of valves touching pistons... how hard they touch is a matter of luck. When my bottom pulley went it only bent one valve so I was lucky, but when Bananaman's went (again at around 6Krpm) it took 3 (IIRC) valves.... A mate of mine's went at high revs and actually damaged a piston too... :| andrewdowd, As gav says, fit the new pulley and belt, and do a compression test (DON'T just try firing it up as this could do even more damage to the head...) to see what the score is... you may have been lucky... Good luck!

Supercharged Junkie, I popped 2 of the Euro/GSF ones in under 2 months... they're utter garbage...

whoah @ Riley... Glad you're OK mate... :| I finished bolting the engine into H-YYU last night and drove her to work this morning... My face now aches from all the grinning... Damn, she's good fun to drive, even when I'm taking it easy!

ah well, so it's taken nearly a quarter of a year to get my arse in gear..  The engine and box is now in, she's now running on the 40mm offset Borbet Cs I imported from Germany with 4 new 11mm spacers and I'm grinning like a loon after the drive in this morning! It's nearly 9 months since I last drove a car with this engine and box and I'd forgotten just how silly it was and how much faster than a standard G60 it is! 8) :D The brakes will be swapped over this week and I'll give her a service before the weekends fun at Santa Pod... ;) 8) Photos when I get home tonight ('cos that's where my camera is! ;) )
