  1. corradowales, they be simple if you get all the bits, otherwise they take a little bit of thinking about to get 'em to stay where they should... Anywho, :offtopic: Back to the topic please folks... 8)
  2. check the wiring to the fuel pump (probably under the rear seat or where it joins the fuse box) for a wire spliced in. It sounds like the way this has been rewired is to run another ignition live from somewhere to the fuel pump so that it no-longer follows the opperation of the relay so it stays on all the time... the way to prove this is to try it without the fuel pump relay connected. If it's still running then it's been rewired somewhere onto an ignition live to get around the old immobilizer... ;) Good luck!
  3. craigowl, I do that too, but I have no idea why...
  4. corradowales, actually, the rear wheel arches changed too... Have a look in the buyers guide on here as it's got a list of all the differences in it... 8)
  5. sounds like someone's bodged something to get around an old immobiliser to me...
  6. Riley, as it happens, yes... Marketing exec, Station Co-ordinator (glorified PA), and then a load more coming up at the start of next year when we launch XFM Manchester, possibly including another engineering job!
  7. dinkus, unlike hedges? I'll get me coat...
  8. corradowales, not had mine yet... will be chasing 'em for the second time today... I get the feeling that they're not conning, that they're just badly organised...
  9. G60Dan, a vacuum leak will cause this, also a non-closing throttle switch will cause an erratic idle... (had both of these just after I did my engine swap   )
  10. The details that Steve gave on the Bosch sensor were all I needed to be able to get one from GSF.... His price was spot on too, but I got a discount for being a regular customer   and for working where I work and getting them some freebies too... ;)
  11. Neil g60, they're not that common mate, I've only seen a handful fitted to cars... most of 'em seem to be on ebay pulling in silly money!  Looks good anyway, even if it ain't unique... 8)
  12. eye, Spencer Trams car is a work of art! Loadsa go! He's a member here and IIRC also on Dubforce too... 8)
  13. gradeAfailure, Cool! 8)
  14. I think he's on about the gauge pod that Neil g60 posted a pic up of... Personally, I think that there are much better ways of posting your thoughts up than just being sarcastic about someone you don't knows post... Not everyone here knows as much about Corrados as some people like to think they do...
  15. MUPPET! Normally they stick the full one in the empty one and then load 'em both on that way... obviously this guy was 4 cans short of a 6 pack...
  16. Jim, it's great for finding out about just about anything, not just tech stuff! 8) Been using the Wiki for a loooonnngggg while now... 8)
  17. Get the MOT from the other garage, then put in a complaint, copying in your NEW MOT certificate, those photos and the fail certificate from Motorworld... You may not get anything back from it, but they WILL get a visit from the inspectorate not long after to see what's going on there and to make sure that they're not ripping people off... ;) If there's one thing that the DTI don't like, it garages taking the p!ss with MOTs by either passing stuff what shouldn't be passed, or failing stuff for the sake of making a few quid... ;)
  18. oh, OK, if we're doing all of 'em... :twisted: 1972 Type 2 panel van (2.1 Porsche engine!) -> 1973 Beetle -> 1981 1600 MKI Golf GTI -> 1981 1500 MKI Golf Auto -> 1982 1800 MKI Golf GTI (which then became a 16V!) -> 1991 Corrado 16V -> 1992 MKII Golf GTI -> 1996 1400 Astra Merit -> 1992 Corrado G60 (J-DUB) and 1991 1600 MKII Driver (bought while I rebuilt J-DUB's engine) -> 1991 Corrado G60 (H-YYU) Of these, I still own the 1982 MKI GTI(16V), the Golf Driver and both Corrado G60s... :| I think I may have a bit of a VW problem... :oops: :lol:
  19. Cheers for this Steve, just swapped the universal one with a nice new Bosch one with that part number... the guys have now made a note so anyone going to the Trafford park branch will get one of these if they request an expensive non-universal one... 8) Also bagged myself a nice discount on it, so it didn't hurt as much as I thought it was going to... 8)
  20. Riley, spot flipping on mate! 8) Great guide there... 8)
  21. _leon_, they don't... you need to buy ball joints seperately, but they're not expensive (£12 each IIRC)
  22. if you're buying 'em from Europe, make sure you're getting RHD arms/blades else they won't fit!!! :!:
  23. you know that list on the inside of the fuse box cover? Ignore it... I've found that it's utter crap most of the time and is just blatent lies...
  24. dodgy starter motor? When you turn the key does it do anything at all? Good way to test is to have your headlamps on dipped as you turn the key, if it's dropping the headlamps to sidelights when you turn it, then it's unlikely to be the X-relay. If it dims the dash then it could be either the earth or +ve feed to the starter or even a dodgy battery or jammed starter motor. Personally, I'd be stripping off the power connectors to the starter and the earth straps, cleaning 'em up and seeing how it goes from there.... ;)
