Black leather works rather well with the grey plastics... it lightens up the interior and stops it from becoming a very dark place... 8) (well, that's my opinion and how I've had black leather in both of my grey interiored G60s... )

I pushed a car across a carpark with my first corrado when someone parked so close there was no-way to get out of the parking space... It was only an AX and it didn't do any damage to my car, but the guys in the car park ticket office were egging me on all the way! ;) These days I'd just break in, take the handbrake off, move it out of the way and leave it somewhere else...

'lo again! 8)

the g60 keys with the cover and light aren't available from VAG anymore (although GPC still sells 'em cheaply... ;) )

the stub axle is slightly conical and is a single piece of metal.... cutting it and welding it will make it MUCH weaker than normal and will also mean that your rear hubs won't fit on anymore as the bearings won't have enough stub to fit onto... :| Not a good idea... :|
-
oooh, I like that idea flusted, 8) why didn't I think of that when I had my valver?!?
-
Chav? It is believed to come from the mid-19th Century Romany word Chavi, meaning child. (amazing what you can find on Wikipedia while you're waiting for the traffic to die down... ;) ) linky!

My new engine - (progress pics)......update 16/05/05

Erm, guys? The VW Beetle has had the battery under the rear seat since it was first made... That's NOT in an enclosed box and isn't externally vented... In all the time I worked on Beetles I only know of one where that was a problem... and that's 'cos someone fitted a different rear seat and the springs shorted out the battery! :|  -
Eurospec head is a completely new casting made by a company called (suprisingly enough! :-P ) Eurospec... it's got much improved airways through it and larger valve chambers and, IIRC larger valves too... At around $2000 it ain't cheap though... :| *edit* LINKY!

they're black on G60s Steve... Don't panic! ;) 8)
-
andycowuk, funny that... I got exactly the same from RPM and JMR when I got my heads (don't ask!) done by them... ;) 8)
-
just for the record... Vince tends to have a large pressurised spray bottle handy when he's doing rolling road sessions so that he can cool down the intercoolers on the cars that are running... it's not just a theory, it WORKS... 8)

Audiolectrics in Macclesfield have done some good alarm installs on my cars... Ripping out old dead alarms, restoring the wiring and then installing new CAT1 alarms... I wouldn't class them as the cheapest, but they do a good job and I've never had any problems with what they install... 8)

Atn: G60 Corrado owners (don't know about the others)

woah... scarey... :| Change them pipes people... :? -
26K per year in J-DUB before I started with all the engine work (read as "off road time"...) My Grey one has done 9.5K miles since late January when I picked her up... work that out and it's about 27K miles per year... :|

Fuse or broken switch... ;)
-
ah, gotcha... 8) Personally, I'd just dump the water-oil cooler and throw it in the bin and fit a Mocal one instead... Much better cooling... 8)
-
to get the bolts out you need a 1/4 inch drive socket set with a wiggle-woggle ended extension bar so you can get in at the two bolts... You also need to remove the gearbox flange cover plate (the small plate at the bottom of the gearbox) which is held in with 2 more 10mm headed bolts.
-
corradowales, 'cos the oil cooler has finally become blocked enough to make it innefficient? Think about how much liquid (both oil and coolant) has been pumped through that oil cooler over the 100K miles it's been fitted to that engine...
-
remove fusebox cover.... look at fuses... replace blown fuse... ;) (you'll also find a list of which fuse does what on the bottom of the fuse box cover... ;) )

The alternator will only produce 120A if the car is drawing 120A... Most of the time a bigger alternator is producing the same amount of drag as a smaller one as it's only being asked to provide the same amount of ampage... it's only when you start asking more of the alternator (electrical heaters, stereo equipment, bright lights etc) that the load would increase causing more power loss from the engine...

**Group Buy** VR6 BMC CDA Filters **10% DISCOUNT AGAIN!**
Henny replied to andy's topic in Engine Bay
that's 'cos it won't be legal in the US... ;) Don't worry about it, they're somewhat paranoid with their legislation on cars over there... -
basically all removing the carbon cannister does is to remove a shed load of excess piping from the engine bay and free up the hole under the airbox... It should make no difference to the running of a G60 engine as they're now sooooo old that the carbon cannister will not be doing anything anymore anyway. There's no electronics on the CC on a G60 so the ECU won't complain (like a VR one does)... I've heard that G-man now rips these out as a matter of course... ;) 8)

do you have headlamp washers? ;)
-
you may also want to try putting some heat reflecting tape over the bottom of the inlet manifold where it goes over the engine.... I got some from Demon Tweeks for my G60 and it made one hell of a difference... the inlet used to get VERY hot after a long fast run... now it's just warm 8)
