  1. removing the sump can be a little pain in the rear too... the bolts at the gearbox end have a nasty habit of stripping threads if you aren't mega careful... :|
  2. you'd need to get your wheel arches rolled, and possibly even slightly flared more... Dunno on costs, never done it, I just buy wheels which will just fit straight on... ;)
  3. sounds like you have an alarm fault, probably caused by the shorted wire in the door handle.... :|
  4. Yeah, we're all pretty chilled and up for a laugh here... although Phatty still has his moments! ;) :-P It's 'cos of Phat's recommendations that I messed about with my gearbox as much as I have... the LSD was always in the plan, but changing the gear ratios was an addition that can be laid on Phat and Vince's heads and has so far been well worth it... ;) 8)
  5. have a word with 16VG60, he does a high flow stainless steel Miltek downpipe that's suitable for all Corrados... I have one on my G60 and the quality is spot on... 8) The price isn't bad either IIRC... 8)
  6. actually, it's YOUR insurance company that pays for the repairs to your car no matter who is at fault... That's why it's all screwed up and you end up getting penalised for something that was nothing to do with you... :|
  7. straight answer: NO, they will not fit without modification to the car.
  8. Holy s#!t! Them's some BIG brakes ving60! 8)
  9.  Remember, any part can be fitted to any car with the correct application of Gaffa tape and cable ties... ;)

    CLOCKS

yes, you can put a 9V battery across the back to power them enough to see the milage... I'll dig out which pins tonight when I get home... 8)
  11. the wire behind the stereo for feeding power to the aerial amplifier is black... this should be connected to your blue wire out of the back of the stereo... 8)

    16v Problems

well said, kvwloon, If I hadn't have just got back from the pub, I'd probably have remembered to put that in.... ;)  :drinking:
  13. that was exactly the same as I was about to write Kev.... 8)

    alloy cleaners

craigbeal, if this post was on about the rubber brake disk plates that you can get which fit between the wheel and the hub, DO NOT FIT THEM! you will cause your brakes to overheat which could cause you to get into an accident... :| Just had that thought as this thread popped back up...
  15. Gav? you can't leave us now.... all these people over here needing your wiring looms and alarm skills! what would we do?!? (Jammy git, I'd go to Oz in a flash if an opportunity arose... 8) Wonder how much it'd cost to get my G60 taken over there... ;)  )

    16v Problems

a new dizzy cap and rotor arm sound like they're in your close future to me, coullstar ;) Caramalised crud normally is burnt insulation off either the cap or the arm, or, if you're really unlucky, it's oil that's seaped past the dizzy's seals and into the cap... :|
  17. Wot no gaffa tape?!?
  18. sheesh... have you got a filter running for your name which emails you every time someone mentions you?!?
  19. Gav's actually in the Warrington area, but works at Manchester Airport and is someone I'd totally forgotten about for alarms... Scratch what I said before, PM H100VW and see if he can squeeze you in, 'cos you won't find a better fitter IMHO... 8)

    no dash lights

most of the wire colours on VWs are standard from car to car, and seeing as I've been messing with VWs for the best part of 13 years, you get to know some of the more common ones... 8) oh, and which row on the ECU connector? ;)
  21. Try Audiolectrics in Macclesfield... very good service, although not the cheapest in the world... Also, there's a car audio place in Chorlton that's supposed to be rather good, it's just up from the bus station in the center of town...
  22. OMG where are all these Corrados coming from in the North west?!? Again, another 2 on the way home from work tonight... only I was in the driver due to a dead rad in the Corrado... Blue J plate heading into Knutsford... thought it was mine for a moment! J***DJB! Green Storm just outside Upper Peover on the A50, I was in the red golf driver which let you cross the road into the turning to Ollerton... 8)
  23. Yeah, I'm a mod there too...
  24. IIRC you have to have the later ___---___ style bonnet for it to clear a strut brace up front... :|
  25. yup... definately worth checking the earth no matter how clean the battery's connectors look... the amount of crud that collects under the battery tray where the strap attaches to the chassis is scarey... :| Probably also worth taking the bulb out of the glovebox lamp and the boot lamp as these can cause current leaks which will flatten batteries pretty quickly...
