yup, I agree with SoundsAlarming, 100% there... 8) The earth strap on Corrados is a known weak point... the strap is part of the -ve terminal on the battery, runs down the back of the battery and bolts onto the chassis at the back of the battery tray, and then continues onto the top front gearbox to engine bolt... It has a nasty habbit of going green and cruddy which causes problems like this... :| The other one to check is the battery +ve connector onto the starter motor... the copper in the connector oxidises but will usually clean up nicely with some rough sandpaper...

depending on when you're looking at doing it, I may be up for a quick RR session to compare it to some other cars... 8)
-
I may well be popping down to that as it's not mega far from here... 8) I'll let you know a bit closer to the time... I've got 2 complete mechanisms, one of which has the scratch marks you've all described, so you're welcome to have that one for yours to fix up and re-spray the same colour to make life easier when you come to replace the one in your car if you're gonna document the fix in your normal style.... 8)

or just have a cheap piece of cr@p car that you use for going to the supermarket... ;) I tend to find people WON'T park next to my MKII driver 'cos it looks like the sort of car that's gonna use their car to find the way in and out of the space... ;) Funnily enough, it's not got a single dent or scratch more on it since I bought it, and I just tend to abandon it in a carpark rather then bothering with parking it properly... :D 8)

In that case, I'll lock it for now.... STORM 2, if this one you think you've found doesn't pan out, PM me (or any of the other Mods) and we'll re-open this thread for you.... 8)

you need to be logged in to see the pictures which is why you couldn't see 'em before you posted, but then could afterwards... 8)

funny that Phat, after tomorrow, I'll have the same now that my Rad burst this week... Hope that'll drop my temps a bit... 8)

if you want a spare semi broken roof to mess about with Kev, gizza yell and I'll bring one along to a show... 8)

thread on a VW wheel bolt is around 1.1mm per turn... 8) (don't ask why I know that, it came up in conversation with a supplier a couple of weeks ago... ;) )

5 days? phhhhh! lightweights... ;) I don't ever want to be without my 'rado for that long again though...
-
guess who's just had to fit a new switch... ;)
-
nah, I've just been for a curry.... no cooks in this house tonight! :D
-
and your ref's tonight are....
-
that's what I reckon it is now, Gav... more I've thought about it, the more that makes sense... 8)

You called Rodders? ;) Arse, Kev beat me to it! 8) I'd get the cam timings checked... sounds to me like you're either a tooth out on the cambelt, or possibly between the cams on the small chain... Follow Kev's advice about setting the base CO level and have a look at the throttle switch, and if it's still no better, set the engine to TDC on 1 and check that the cambelt marks line up properly... It's also worth getting your ignition timing checked out as some muppets retard the dizzy to stop pinking after a head job which causes the engine to be flat and horrible and also use more petrol than they should... Good luck! 8)

Kev, the standard Corrado fan temps are 92/84 and 102/96 (turns on first speed at 92 and stays on until it drops below 84, second speed kicks in at 102 and doesn't drop back to first speed until 94) IIRC you're right that the temp warning light is set to 120 though.... 8) exturbo2003 if it was the seal in the cap, you'd have a pressure leak, not rock hard pipes... :? I seriously would say that this is an airlock caused by filling from the expansion tank...
-
you may have shorted a wire behind the dials you were trying to fit... it'll be a blue wire with a grey stripe IIRC.... 8) Check your fuse box as well, as I'm pretty sure there is a fuse for these bulbs too...
-
yeah, I bought some original VAG black leather seats for it... it goes well with the original grey bits too... 8)
-
not rear ones... decent socket to use as a drift and a mallet will get 'em in perfectly without damage... 8) Fronts REALLY need a press to remove old ones and fit new ones... :|
-
sounds like you have a faulty alarm module, or the switch on the driver's door lock has become faulty and is sending the "close windows and lock" signal all the time... :|
-
yup... I do mine that way too now Kev... 8)
-
sounds like an air lock to me... Quick thing to check: with the system slightly pressurised, carefully take the lid off the expansion tank and see if it smells of exhaust gas or if there's a mayo style residue in there... if it does/has, you've got a leaky head gasket... The expansion tank cap should only release pressure when the system has SERIOUSLY over pressured... old rubber pipes WILL split before it reaches that point... :| when you fitted the new pipe, how did you fill the system back up with coolant? The correct way is to remove one end of the radiator top hose and fill it via that rather than just plonking it in via the expansion tank... this will avoid air locks... I know what you mean about the top part of the rad, mine split as well and caused all sorts of problems when it went... :? Good luck! 8)

Have a look at that link about the Storms and you should be able to suss out if most fakes from that... There are people who have cars that are VERY similar to Storm spec here (Jedi-Knight being one), and they're the ones that you'd have to phone about to make sure it is a genuine one... 8) The blue ones are harder to fake as this was a Storm only colour, where as Classic green was available on non-Storm cars too... Personally, I can no longer find the massive attraction with Corrado Storm, as it's possible to get a better spec'd VR6 for less money now... IMHO the only thing that you get is the knowledge that it's slightly more exclusive due to the badging.... At least the Scirroco Storms were a better spec than the normal Sciroccos...

Hiya! Welcome to the forum... 8) Check HERE for our buyers guide, and HERE for a quick guide to Storms It is possible to create a fake Storm, and as there is nothing on the V5 to say that it's a Storm or not, your only way of checking is to phone VW with the chassis number and ask them if it is a true Storm or not... :| Good luck! 8)
