does the horn work? Reason I ask is 'cos it's very easy to get the horn and one foglamp multiplug mixed up which will stop both the horn and the fogs working and sometimes blow both fuses....

Sorry, didn't notice that you were American... Boot light = Trunk light...   There's a light inside the trunk which is on when the tailgate is open... The switch is in the lock mechanism on the gate itself, and they are known to become faulty and keep the light on which will easily flatten a battery in a couple of days... :|

stick in a moonroof (so that it'll keep working! ;) ) and just open the windows... 8)

£500?!? Woah, I sense a 1.9 TDI coming on... ;) From the look of the photos, you're looking at a new slam panel, wing, bonnet, headlights and grill, and possibly a new radiator too... It looks as if it's gone under the back of a lorry or somthing similar and so hasn't touched the bumper which implies that there's no damage to the chassis legs inside the engine bay, and the inner wing on the passenger side may well just straighten out... The dent on the rear looks like more of a nudge which will probably pull out pretty easily... Hell, I'd have been VERY tempted by that if I'd have spotted it... :| Plenty to sell on if you broke it too, but I don't like the thought of breaking Corrados... I've already done one (almost identical to this one.. :( ) and am trying to save 'em now rather than scrap 'em.... ;) 8)

right, after talking nicely to Andi.... here's the rest of the photos... :) 8)

and more... 8) Arrgghh!! I've run out of upload quota! :( There will be more photos shortly... ;)

OK, here's my Corrado pics from All Types... 8)

Boot light... take the bulb out and see if it holds it charge any better... Earthstrap from the battery - they go green and crappy and won't allow the battery to charge properly off the alternator, as well as causing all sorts of "interesting" other electrical gremlins to come out of the woodwork... :| (it's the clamp on the -ve of the battery which then runs down to the chassis just behind the battery and on to end attached to the gearbox at the front top bolt) Alarms are also common battery killers, along with any ICE you have installed... Also check that the fan run on is only running for around 7 minutes or so.... any longer and you may have a problem there which is flattening your battery... (uncommon though)

Ah, I just noticed something that you may want to check as well... the Brembos which fit a G60 Corrado are Seat Ibiza Cupra sport ones.... The Leon kit is bigger still! The Ibiza kit uses 305x28mm disks with the 4 pot calipers and are 4 stud so will go onto any of the 4cylinder Corrados... The Leon (IIRC) uses 330x28mm disks with the same calipers, but are 5 stud, so are great for anyone with a VR6 and a friendly bank manager, as they are lots more expensive than the 4stud 305mm kit... :|

Seat Brembo brakes on a Corrado? nah, can't be done... ;) Check out THIS thread for a possible group buy... I got my kit from Bill at Badger5 and Bill's been nothing but helpful ever since I got them... 8) Thoroughly recommended... 8) You've got to be VERY careful with which wheels you want to fit over them though... my 16" borbet Cs only fit with a 10mm spacer, and then they are CLOSE :| It is a SERIOUSLY good brake mod, and will scare the pants off you how quickly you can stop when you hit the brakes once they are bedded in... 8)

2.8 - 2.9 Differences - blown engine - worn out engine issue
Henny replied to Storm's topic in Engine Bay
VWs are just like a giant Meccano set... they're really simple to work on in general with very few "gotchas" in there, most of which have been discussed here in great length! ;) As long as you take your time, and make sure that you double check everything you do before you do it, and then again once you've done it, you'll be fine... 8) Pistons don't tend to get damaged unless the engine has run with lots of pinking of MAJOR overheating in which case they can melt/change shape slightly, or if they've made contact with a valve or suchlike... The could have a coating of carbon and antifreeze if the headgasket has gone, but they should clean up nicely pretty easily... 8) Look for chips, nicks, rub marks and scrapes on the pistons... there shouldn't be any... if there are then alarm bells should start to ring... :| Good luck! 8) -
I can't wait for my re-chip... 222 miles on £40!  I know that I've set her up to run rich until the rolling road session, but that's just painful at the moment... This government needs a serious re-education, preferably with the aid of a baseball bat... ;)

Red L plate Corrado on the M60 clockwise by Trafford park at 9:20 this morning... 8) Tried to catch up to wave, but a van kept cutting me up.... Anyone here?

this is not normal on a Corrado (or any car to be honest!) Check the front wishbone bushes, trackrod ends and top mounts as well as disks and tracking... shuddering that bad needs sorting ASAP... :|
-
get one from VW... they're about £25 to £30 inc VAT... 8)

yup, volksbits had boxes of 'em yesterday at All-types, even the chrome ones... 8)

  that looks like there's less clearance on those brakes than on my 16" Borbet Cs with the brembo kit! Looking good though Phat, Glad you got her running properly now... 8)

IIRC Steath's rebuild price includes removing the rivets from the standard Diff and replacing them with uprated bolts which will prevent their tendancy to grenade... 8) There's nothing actually wrong with the standard diff (once the rivets have been replaced!) it's just that an LSD is soooooo much better! 8) It gives improved traction in all conditions, better pull around corners, and totally transforms how you can drive the car... 8) (yes, I'm starting to enjoy mine now my engine is bedded in! ;) )

Reiger's build quality is very good to excelllent... I'm running with a Reiger RS4 style plastic front bumper and have been very impressed with it's fitment and quality... 8) Personally, I'm with Dazzy about styling on a Corrado... If it wasn't for the fact that I need the extra air flow into the engine bay, I'd probably still be running with a standard front bumper... But, if that's what you wanna do, at least you've chosen a good manufacturer for the kit.... 8) Have a word with Richard at Venom about the reiger kits as he can supply 'em all... There's somewere else that's been reccomended that I've yet to use that's called http://www.tuning.co.uk/ 8)

a CV joint should not be able to affect how a car drives in a straight line... :| Worn CV joints just make a nasty knocking clicking noise and are annoying, but I can't see how they'd make a car pull in a different direction... I'd say that you need to get your tracking looked at and get the cambers set up at the same time...
-
how smelly is the cat? A slight smell of sulphur (rotten eggs) is pretty normal for a health cat... :|

You need to regulate the car's voltage before stepping it down, as car's don't actually run at 12V, it's more like 14.1V... Once you've got a smoothed 12V, you can simply use a resistor to give you the 8V as per an LED... 12-8/200Mw = 20ohm resistor required once you've stabilised the voltage 8) I'll see if I can knock up a quick circuit for you as I'm doing very similar but with a camera in my rear VW badge to aid with reversing! ;) 8)

Welcome to the forum... 8) Have a look at our buyer's guide... it's got just about everything you could need to know about when buying a Corrado (and even a few things you'll probably never need! ;) ) It's HERE

Ah! Brake pedal position sensor? Kev's just had that one and sorted it IIRC... See HERE for details... 8)
