Fronts you'll need a press to do without damaging the carriers or new bearings.... rears it's normally easier to buy new disks at the same time, as these hold the rear wheel bearings, but they can be done at home with no specialist tools required... 8)

rebuild then 75 shot = yes just 75 shot = no...

Arse! my insurance is up for renewal next month.
Henny replied to PhatVR6's topic in General Car Chat
yeah, I couldn't work that out with HIC this year... the insurance on my G60 went DOWN £20 after I declared all of the mods that I've done over the last 9 months! Apparently, in my case, it's 'cos it's a 1H block, not a PG block so is considered as an engine transplant, not a rebuild and so is calculated in a totally different way! 8) That's a good price though Phat... 8) -
erm, Struan? This isn't your for sale thread... It's a thread about overpriced wheels, and the possibility of getting them cheaper elsewhere... Both of you two... Can we get this thread back on topic and see if we can help STORM 2 get hold of a solitude cheaper than the £400 he's been quoted from VAG?

Essex, the most speed cameras in the country, and.......
Henny replied to kvwloon's topic in General Car Chat
there's been a spate of speed cameras "going missing" around South East Cheshire and NW staffs recently... I noticed one a couple of weeks ago that had the top missing and looked like it had been cut off... according to my mate who's just joined the police, that's exactly what's been happening to them... Looks like someone with a chainsaw has a grudge against speed cameras!  and no, I haven't got a chainsaw... ;) -
shhhhh... you'll give away all of my plans... ;) Electric supercharger AND exhaust Kazoo... ultimate combination! ;)

shall I fit one to my G60?!? ;)

Burgendy red K plate (VR6?) followed me through Alderly Edge this evening (6:30ish) and turned off to Macclesfield after lots of waving and smiling in my rear view mirror! 8) and then a black J plate was 2 cars infront at that same turning on the A34 which I then sat behind until Congleton... gave me a wave as I turned off to get to my house... 8) (I'll keep up with you a bit better once my chip has been written! ;) ) Anyone here?

well, mine took until 236K miles to completely die... 8) Can't really argue with that too much! 8)

the oil cooler/heat exchanger is common to all 4 cylinder Corrados (and most Golf GTIs too) and is a pain in the arse and a serious weak point... It'll cost you more than just fixing the pipes that you have on now, but if you go for a Mocal, you'll have a cooler running engine, less waterpipes to go wrong and a nice upgrade to your oil system... 8) Prices? dunno, Have a word with G-Man or 16VG60 about the mocal kits (easier than trying to work out which bits you need from Thinkauto) and then you need the 2 water pipes to get rid of the heat exchanger plumbing from VAG which come to about £40 all in... 8) Oh, and don't re-use the pinch clips! they are single use only and will have stretched now you've got 'em off the oilcooler and will probably cause a leak when you put it all back together again... Use jubilee clips instead, much better! :D

What is this an why is there water pissing out of it??????
Henny replied to CharlieHorse's topic in Archive
I'm not sure if it's a good sign or not, but as soon as I mention my name to any of the 2 local dealers I go to for parts, they shut up about deposits and "can't order without paying first" and just get on with it and get the parts for me... Hell, they even add the CGTI discount on and phone me when the part comes into stock without me asking first.... 8) I think I need to get a reliable car...  -
aks_uk, I'll try to dig the info out for you in the morning... 8)

Fan? Check for a dodgy thermo switch by taking the multiplug off it and connecting a piece of wire between the red and either the red/white or red/brown wires with the ignition switched on... if the fan spins with one or both, you have a dodgy thermo switch, time for a new one... (the thermo switch lives in the rad just down from the battery on the enginebay side of the rad) If the fan doesn't spin, check for 12V on the red wire with the ignition on... if there's no voltage, you've got a dead wire or fuse between the fusebox and that point... :? If there's 12V, then it's looking like your fan motor is goosed... Take the connector off the fan, and bridge the red wire on the thermo connector again (either wire to red, doesn't matter which) test the fan's connector of the same colour for 12V against the brown wire on the connector (IIRC red/white = low speed switched 12V, red/brown = high speed 12V and brown = earth) If there's 12V on both of these when you test 'em, you need a new fan... if not, you've got a broken or disconnected wire... :| Guess who's just gone through all of this! ;) I've ended up putting a relay in to the fan circuit as I found that, as with the headlamps, I wasn't gettting 12V (or more!) at the fan anymore... I was actually only getting 8V! Dunno about the central locking/window fault... sorry... :?

Keep an eye out for my little shed... (only a shed on the outside! ;) ) I work in Salford but quite often go for a curry in Rusholme and have to drive thru Fallowfield to get there... 8)

Tornado red is a sod for fading anyway... If you just leave it alone long during the life of the car, it will go like that pretty easily, but should come back reasonably easily with some good quality elbow grease and polish... 8)
-
dump it and get a mocal on there... 8) 2 pipes off a normal Golf (cost about £40 all in) and the cost of the cooler, and you've solved your problem AND improved the car at the same time... 8) ;)

got one on my G60 (original flywheel machined down LOTS) The rev up time is mentally fast and the fact that the engine's revs drop quickly as well isn't a problem... The idle on it hasn't been affected other than initially being slightly lower than it used to be.... 8)

I'll tell you this for one thing... make sure your ABS works before sticking the brembos on.... :| as soon as the disks and pads bed in, they'll grip better than your tyres and will happily lock up if you stomp 'em at just about any speed... Need to get my ABS sorted out now...

that first shot is a perfect example of the Aqua blue colour... 8) very nice.... :D

I'm pretty certain that these have not yet been released by anyone... :? Keep an eye out for FK or In-Pro who are the regulars for this kinda product... 8)

I'm pretty sure that Euro car parts (and maybe GSF) do 'em in plastic for around £20... copy of the Kamei one IIRC... 8)

16x7.5 borbet Cs with a 30 offset and a 10mm spacer with the Seat Ibiza 305x28mm Brembo conversion... And "YES" it's close! :?

there's a relay on the fuse box (known as the X relay or load reduction relay) which could well be your problem... If that's stuck connected, then this would have the same effect as having the ignition on at all times... :|

yup...   I re-loomed the wiring with some nice new self amalgamating tape and did it all nice and neatly right upto the multiplugs... Then I found 2 identical black multiplugs behind the passenger side headlamp...
