  1. well, you won't miss that in your engine bay will you! Looks good, a nice change from a straight silver or black one.... :D 8)
  2. phone 'em and ask 'em... I couldn't find any mention of them on the website either...
  3. yellow wire by the dizzy is for the oil pressure switch which should be on the top of the oil filter head... There should also be a Green wire with a black tracer which goes onto the oil temp sensor, and a Blue wire with a white tracer which shouldn't be connected to anything... 8)
  4. and another one... got my shield kit and then the cloths a couple of days later.... 8)
  5. you can probably knock £300 off that for your VR box... I had to get hold of the new gears in mine which is where some of that cost came from... 8)
  6. erm, can I throw a spanner in these works? MKI Golf GTI - con rod came through the side of the block on the M62... engine still started and ran fine, but didn't fancy trying to drive it 80 miles with no oil or water and a con-rod sticking through the block :? MKI Golf 16V (same car, new engine! ;) ) - fuel pump died on the way back from BVF at Malvern... The AA flatbed beat my mates home! :) Corrado 16V - Head gasket went and also when I wrapped it around a hedge and into a field... Golf GTI MkII - Headgasket twice, alarm once and the oil cooler popped... (I hated this car, cost me loads and was pants) Corrado G60 - Head gasket once, Crank bolt once (and that fault will never happen again!) 10 call outs in 10 years... at least I'm getting my monies worth! ;)  And I STILL keep buying VWs and I STILL love my 'rado to bits even though it's been a little pig to me over the last year or so... :| 8)
  7. Stealth has just rebuilt my G60's gearbox for me... Quaife LSD (which I know Phat'd never go near, but is still a good diff! :-P ) rebuild with new bearings and a VR6 1st and 2nd gear... I could have swapped final drive ratios while I was at it, but decided against it at the time... All in cost was just shy of £1300.... it's not the cost of the parts that hurts, it's the labour costs as gearbox stripping and rebuilding takes time and skill to do properly... 8)
  8. now that's a good idea, Nigel... 8) I'll remember that one for next time... :D
  9. I don't know much about the tollerances on these engines, I sent mine off to get the block rebuilt and overbored 'cos I haven't got either the tools or the experience to sort it out... All I know is that there shouldn't be a lip at the top of the cylinders, and any lip that is there is caused by wear on the cylinders which could cause piston slap and oil burning to happen... :?
  10. all you need to change the sensor is a lever of any type (penknife, screwdriver, etc) to pull the clip out, and then the sensor will pull out by hand... you may need to twist it slightly first though... MAKE SURE your engine is cold before tying to remove the clip, also remove the expansion tank cap to prove to yourself that there is no pressure in the system... ;)

    oil temp!

yeah, my old 16V corrado used to have almost identical temps to that... 8)
  12. I lost my first C to some diesel on a wet corner... I missed it for 3 years until I could afford a G60 and then haven't looked back... 8) Yes, it's cost me a small fortune, but that's just 'cos I've gone overboard... ;) :D I keep toying with the idea of getting a bike, but I know I'd end up hurting myself on it, so I won't do it... I'm gonna try and get my licence this year though... :)
  13. and me and Steve weren't even mod's then... :?
  14. yeah, sounds about right for the cause of that leak... I've a similar one on my drivers side seatbelt... I only noticed today after going for a long drive and noticing that the seatbelt stank.... :pukeright: Time for a clean, and a new outer window seal methinks! ;)
  15. buy new fogs and indicators for a later model and experiment... IIRC it involves removing a rubber bung and maybe drilling a hole each side... It has been done, and documented here.... 8)
  16. Welcome to the forum... 8) Nice looking 'rado that... :) Any mods planned for it?
  17. yeah, mine did the same... made me jump when I turned the radio on and it said "Century" across the display after I changed the aerial... I didn't realise my TV system had RDS...

    MFA

can you switch between the different modes on MFA2? if that doesn't work either, there's a multiplug under the steering cowling that's probably come adrift! ;)
  19. Gav? I'll get ya a pint in next time we meet up! ;) I've just been for a 50 mile run, the temps went right up near 110 on the water with oil temps just nudging 100 after about 15 miles, and then, all of a sudden the engine seemed to free up lots and the temp dropped down near 100 water and 93 oil, which is pretty much where it stayed for the rest of the run apart from when I got stuck in traffic and the water nudged upto 110 again... She seems to be running a whole lot better (although she still needs setting up properly, but after she's bedded in! ;) ) and is lots less hesitant below 2K I did find that there were a couple of dodgy jubilee clips(not actually made by Jubilee, but some other naff make) which wouldn't tighten fully the other night, so I think that this was introducing a vacuum leak which wasn't helping matters, but all in, I reckon that you were spot on with the tollerances thing and I was just being mega paranoid... with any luck, things can only get better from here on.... :D 8) Daz? Thanks a lot to you too, There's a pint waiting for you at inters too if you want it... ;) And to all others who added thoughts, THANKS! 8)
  20. No idea... I've yet to dismantle a MKV! ;)
  21. It's not an earth, it's the power for the aerial amplifier that's built into the base of the aerial...
  22. there's 2 cable connectors just under the back of the headlining, one for the power and one co-ax one for the aerial itself... it's rather easy to swap 'em over, I just did mine (again) now that the head lining is back is so that I could mod it slightly.. 8)
  23. that's the coolant temp sensor for the ECU... :| they're about £5 from places like GSF or Euro car parts or about £8 from VAG... I'd get a new one in ASAP if I were you as this sensor can screw up the running of the car something rotten..... :? Make sure you get new O rings with it when you change it... ;)
  24. I've got JBLs all around in my Corrado and it's got a really nice sound to it... 8)
