there is a push switch in the door shut, just to the right of the bonnet release handle, it maybe just a case that the spade terminal has come off the back of the switch and just needs sliding back on. If it is broken they're only a few pence to replace anyway!!

The new lotus's dont have the crappy k series engine fitted to them anymore, they have a celica vvti engine in them which is 100 times better than the k series, the only problem is you have to drive them hard to get into the power band as it comes in at 6200rpm. I ve driven both the celica T sport 190 and the corolla T sport and even though they are alot heavier than the lotus they go like stink when your hoofing it, third gear doing 80 ish is where the fun begins the vvti comes into play and it kicks in like a turbo :D Agreeing with kev on that one I really dislike the ibiza for the reasons stated above, the leon is a better choice it's just a shame they didn't produce the cupra r in 3 door.

Yeah the carpets are held in place with the stupid black clip thingy's the bases of the rear seats just pull out and the backs of the seats are held in place with the 4 m6 nuts behind the centre armrest. As for the dash dunno about that one as I ve never taken one out but shouldn't imagine it's that difficult to do!!

Are all the pipes definately getting hot ? For it to get hot that quickly it sounds like there is either a blockage in one of the water ways or an airlock!!! with the engine coolish take the cap off the expansion tank and see if the return hose from the top radiator hose has a decent amount of water flow returning to the expansion tank. Water pumps generally work or dont work so it's unlikely to be that imo. If it is the water pump you can just change the inpeller side of the pump if the housing is ok but the 10 or so m6 bolts that join it to the main housing usually shear off ( even on fairly new pumps) so in the long run it's just easier to change the whole unit and as they're only £22 from the dealers it's hardly worth fussing about just changing the impeller side.

have you got a black pipe that comes from the bottom of the throttle bodie into the side of the charger if you haven't then you have the boost return mod and that is what it sounds like.

Autosol and a dremmel with buffer attatchment for the ultimate lazy cleaning 8)
-
Yeah thats the one!!! 8) My bolt that holds the clamp round the f/f was also very rusty so I just undid the 2x17mm nuts that hold the clamp onto the chassis and took it off and cut through the bolt which then came ouit in 2 parts, I then just got another m6 nut and bolt greased it up and bolted it back upto the chassis. Job done 8)

Rare but quality I saw one go a while back for £700

Unlucky mate!!! :( The excess on your policy is only applicable to your car if you claim so if your excess is say £500 you will have to pay for the first £500 of any repairs to your car. If the mk4's damage is only as you say the wing and the mirror then if he is willing to settle without going through insurance I would, as a new wing from ECP is only £70 and an electric mirror is only £50 + painting and fitting you should be looking at a figure of around £200 which it will probably cost you over the next 3-5 years on loaded insutrance premiums

Now would anybody on here do that LOL  Stick it on with prick stick and sticky back plastic a la blue peter style :D

I had an indicated 160 on the way up to santa pod, racing a mk2 escort cosworth and it felt fine although you are very aware that you are going very fast and the slightest inputs on the steering are magnified over what they would be at say 80mph, it's good fun if you can hold your bottle and keep the go pedal planted

I ve got to find out the price of the replacement ignition surround with adjustable rake and replace the ignition barrel which aint gonna be cheap I know the ignition barrel with keys cost something like £40 and then the ignition surround which will be £100+ I reckon looking at the complexity of it but we'll have to see. There was cctv in the place but the likely hood of the police taking the trouble to find the person who done would be a million to one as to them it's only a jacket and a set of keys!!
-
Werhay got the car home thanks to my friend ' Big hitting stick' and 20 mins of beating the sh@t out of it :D . Now all I need is a new ignition surround and a barrel with adjustable rake and it will be back to normal again
-
I ve got mirror glasses before made by Pearl products for a fiver each I got them from the motor factors I used to work at but most motor factors should be able to get them

Heres a pic of the lock pin, I cant see how anyone could break that just by turning the steering wheel without bending the whole column as well it's fecking massive, it's not like the old minis that had a stupid little pin in them!!!
-
Yeah steve took the rotor cap and king lead off of it and also disconnected the starter switch so not really worried about someone stealing it just more worried about people nabbing bits off of it!!! I ve taken the whole lock mechanism off of my golf gti now and the part numbers for the surround are the same apart from the prefix at the start but it all looks the same, so I'm going to drill down the center of the barrel now and try and release the spring that holds the lock pin in place, and if that dont work my mate has a power inverter in his car so we can use an angle grinder and grind off the ignition surround and bolt in the golf one so I can at least get the car home. Just hoping it all goes according to plan!!! Fingers crossed
-
Shite is not the word  , I tried the sharp pull and gave it everything I had but it wouldn't budge and now the steering lock is on, there really isn't any leverage to attack it with!!! I'm now thinking my large hitting stick and bashing the cunt off!!
