Try replacing the ECU relay.

Does this happen only when the weather is wet?

I think VDO offer one in PSI for the US market.

The VW specification is an absolute minimum of 2 bar at 2000 rpm at 80°c using 15w/40 oil. Sorry to read you have scored crank bearings. Did you fit the pump yourself?
-
Have you got VAG-COM? If it was the factory immobiliser at fault, it would, as you say, start and run for a moment and then cut.

Help! engine nearly cuts out when my lights are on!?

That will be fun to find, a poor earth probably but you will need to go through them all following the current flow diagram. The only problem is the headlight harness is an unknown and it could be a problem in there-who knows! -
Only use a genuine matrix unless you want to do the job twice.

I have had a customer on the phone with this over the last week and he found part of the runner in the sump and still he insists on running it.

But the pistons for a 16v are a totally different design to an 8v?

I have had the early air mass meters cause this.

It comes close to the column but works OK if you wrap it with heat wrap before fitting and at least Raceland put the movement coupling in a more sensible place even if it does run very close to the parts around it and the more joints, the more chance of a pre lambda air leak.

Nope, new pump only-lower body not replaceable as a separate item.

Advice on lumpy, erratic 2.0 16v - being a bit crap again..

That’s why I fit the relays on top of the fuse box, you lose 0.2 volt at the headlight over relays next to the battery but what the hell. -
Too right!

Sorry, didn't read that properly, it is a 9A and the sensor needs fitting to the new leads, teach me to man read. Some leads fall to bits if you try to fit the sensor.
-
Yes and ohh my God in that order.

Had a fault code scan yet?
-
It does get mentioned a lot, read the threads.
