  1. He should live in the mountains, far away from any civilisation!
  2. WALESY / CRAIG the German plates are NOT legal, they're show plates only according to Dubmeister where i got mine from. I'm fairly sure its coz the typeface is not the British standard font which all plates must adhere to. I went the whole hog and got the D logo instead of GB, also put the stadt sticker things on, plus had a slight illegal space to put the stadt's between the numbers and letters. Stopped short of ordering a white plate for the rear though, i reckon you'd possibly attract unwanted attention from the coppers with a white one on the rear. I'm not sure the D logo makes any difference for legality tbh. I'd have to ask a traffic cop next time i speak to one. Traffic issues bore me senseless at work and really don't interest me. IMO these German style plates are way more legible than some of the chavvy itallic styles or thick blocked fonts, so why should we not be able to use them? I've had mine on for 5 months now and have never been pulled (yet!). I had a traffic cop right behind me at some traffic lights last week here in Cardiff and he didn't stop me. Was watching him in my rear view mirror and he didn't do a check on the registration either. And again oop North i had a traffic cop behind me, which i didn't realise at the time, and as he went to overtake me in the right hand lane i thought "cheeky git" so floored it to hold him back so he couldn't get past me. Only realised it was traffic when he tucked in behind!! Should have been a definite pull really what with illegal plates, car registered 200 miles away, it being old and me driving like a pleb, but no! Ok i've rambled a bit now   but have just finished a 15hr night shift and feel sorta odd! Just make sure you all carry a set of regular plates in your boot coz coppers can stop you from driving any further until you have normal plates on. Oh, and if they'e feelin particullarly piccy, you can be fined £30. Worth bearing in mind. Generally speaking tho, its only the traffic cops who are more likely to be stopping you because thats their job day in day out. Us panda boys have way to much on our work loads to be interested in German plates. Off to bed now
  3. That guy seriously needs a g/f Just lovin that slow crawling shot half way through lol!! Glad he put a corrado sticker in the rear window, would've been scratching my head otherwise.
  4. At last a Northerner who's as tight as me
  5. Yep, fitted them on mine front and rear with no probs at all. They fit spot on and look awesome imo. The surrounds are a must really because the German plates are steel and not drilled. Unfortunately i'm poo on computers so can't put piccies on of my car, but look through the members gallery as i'm sure there will be a few cars in there with German plates on. Or some kind soul may post a pic of their ride here for you
  6. All Corrados are chuffin' expensive to insure for what they are. Even the bogo basic 1.8 valver is in something stupid like group 16. The only C that warrants its insurance group is the VR coz they're the only ones that are actually fast. I'd defo get quotes before purchasing j-dub.
  7. Oil is the life blood of any engine. Religious, regular changes are a must. Then follow the normal servicing pattern. Also if supercharged, a regular check on boost and air/fuel ratios should be carried out.
  8. Don't know much about them myself either apart from they are popular on turbo'd cars. Can they be used on supercharged engines? All the top Japanese tuners make them like Greddy, HKS etc, ranging from around the £300-£600 mark. Best bet is to look at the Jap mags such as Banzai or look on the Jap car forums for boost controllers coz they all use them. When i was trawling the classifieds for a jap performance car it was hard to find one that wasn't running a boost controller.
  9. Check out these Corrado T's on fleabay item 150079815859
  10. Nice 1st run there mate. As i mentioned in quarter mile pt1, my mate only ran 15 second runs in his 300 brake Evo 6. Good result over the n/a Supras too. What are they running? I'm sure they're 220bhp, so to beat them with 30 brake less and front wheel drive is pretty damn fine 8) Did you run Shell V-Power and octane booster in the end?
  11. Cheers vr6storm and awigman. Look forward to seeing em fitted!
  12. Just received a call from Cardiff VW. The seal and clips have arrived :) but the inserts are on back order, 7-10 days  I wanna get stuck in lol!
  13. AWIGMAN i got standard sized drilled & grooved front & rear discs for my valver brand new off ebay for £100, and OMP fast road pads (ebay) for £20 front, £22 rear. Made a noticable difference in braking from the stock set up (which was pants) but just changing the rears would'nt make much difference. At £142 for my set up its not worth just changing the rears tbh.
  14. Just ordered all the parts (minus pollen filter) as listed by Yan for the princely sum of £7.36p from Cardiff VW. Well happy with that. Unfortunately have to be specially ordered from German land :(
  15. Make sure you ring them BEFORE 9am, otherwise you will never get through. Best thing to do is to keep phoning them 5 mins before 9 to make sure you're one of the first through.
  16. AWIGMAN how do those GPC efforts compare to your oem vag units for quality, look and fit? Do they look exactly like vw ones??
  17. Anyone know if a lightened flywheel would benefit a 1.8 valver???
  18. jonnyboyo

    New engine?

I personally don't like the sound of the 50mm inlets losing low end torque. The 1.8 valvers have a woeful enough amount as it is without reducing it further. I think the top end is good as it is, its lower down where we early valvers need more oomph.
  19. Have you checked that the boot light doesn't stay ON when the boot is shut? Apparantly this is a common corrado prob. Flip one of the rear seats down when your in the car and take a peek. If its safe to do so, maybe leave your alarm deactivated for a day or two to see if its that thats causing the drain. Maybe use a mates garage whilst the alarms off.
  20. Bought some plain black car seat covers from Tesco's for £4.97 in a (vain?) attempt to stop the drivers side bolster from wearing all the way through as the cloth is very thin.
  21. MBAKER8V how did you manage to get that much bhp & torque? What other mods have you done other than a re-map?? Any headwork???
  22. Haha, thats soooo cool in a crappy sorta way. I like it. Wouldnt be seen dead in it, but i like it!!
  23. Part of me is made up for ya, and the other part.....well :x  Nice 1 mate, wish i had half your luck!
  24. JIM post a piccy up (good or bad) of the end result. Hope it goes smoove!
  25. For a chip NOT to fail the mot it has to be smaller than 10mm at its longest. And obviously in the drivers field of vision. Had mine mot'd in October with a chip and enquired first whether it would fail. It was border line, but passed :D
