Oh how my dream has just been shattered!!!
-
Had to put new rear brake lines on my valver few months back for the MOT. They cost a chuffing fortune. I'm sure they were £180 in the end, but as they were so goosed the flexi joints break too when trying to remove the brake lines thus adding to the cost.

I tried one of them dent sucker efforts once. The darn thing stuck so fast to the bodywork i couldn't pull it off. Nearly had to reside myself to the fact i had a new styling mod stuck to the car. Had to slide it off in the end.

Could do with a bit of rich MILF action. Sure i could do the 'toyboy' thang untill she'd paid for new coillies, top mounts and bushes all round!!!

What's yours & how does it ride? Opinions welcome!!!

It twas my thoughts to. The HICON GTN kit retails at £325 AFAIK and is a semi coilover setup. The front dampers offer coilover adjustment but the rears are more of a regular damper with less adjustment potential which keeps the cost down. I've read some good things about these kits and even the cheaper Ultra GT kit. So for the likes of moi who isn't an all out hardcore racer, the Weitec stuff should be ok with the all important lowered look :) -
Wow, something cheap on a Rado haha! A new cap it is then. Will get rid of the mawl (spelling) grip marks sustained from trying to release the cap

1991,16v problems starting & idleing when cold???
jonnyboyo replied to turborat's topic in Engine Bay
Hi, welcome to the forum. Try a search for isv in the search function matey coz this has been covered many times. There'll be piccies and sound advice there too. People use carb cleaner or petrol to clean the isv and sometimes even give it a bit of a bash to free it in case its sticking! I'm not computer literate i'm afraid so can't post a pic of where the valve is situated. But it is on top of the engine and therefore easily accessible, and is to the right handside near the injectors and sparkplugs. Apologies for the pants description but a search will throw up a photo. The valve will be a cylinderical metal effort with an electrical contact plugged in. If you need a new isv i think they're £130 or you can search the bay as they come up regularly there. Maybe have you're cold start injector checked to if the isv route draws a blank. Good luck :) -

Mines standard tired springs on standard tired dampers and rides crap! Am to almost sure of taking G-MANS offer on the GTN kit. -
MOT brake line failure... Time to upgrade hoses??
jonnyboyo replied to plateletboy's topic in Drivetrain
I had the rear metal brake pipes changed on my 1.8 valver few mnths back as it to failed the mot. They were mega expensive due to them being so corroded all the flexi joints were breaking when trying to remove the pipes. I just had oem refitted the full length of the car incl all flexi joints. My mechanic did say that if someone had had them wax coated a few yrs back they would have still been ok. Hence they are all nicely coated and shouldn't give me any probs now. -
Defo try the fully comp upgrade. If you can do without you're car for a few days it would look less suspicious when you phone em and say "Oh look, i need a new windscreen, would you believe it"!!!!!!! Try it though, we get ripped off enough with insurance companies.

Its worth keeping an eye on the bay matey. I got the whole unit which works spot on for a tenner from a VW breakers. Bought it for a spare in case (or when!) mine goes pop.
-
Hmmm, might do this to mine. A rinse with a bottle of vinegar sounds like a very cheap mod to brighten up the engine bay! :)

Putting the exhaust cam from a 1.8 16v into the 2.0 16v gives a healthy increase in BHP. It was posted on here that it could be as much as 15 bhp, if so that would increase power from 136bhp to around the 150 mark then if you slapped in a K&N panel filter with cold air feed, remove the cat, perhaps a nice exhaust (if there aint one on already) and a good setting up, you could be hovering around the standard 160bhp G60 power without superharger worries. Just a thought matey, but which ever route you decide i'd be ringing round loads of insurance companies because it ultimately may come down to the insurance company making the choice for you. Corrado's have always been an expensive car to insure, no idea why because save for the VR there not very fast cars at all in standard guise.

Hi mate. I'm not to hot (read not at all) on the G60 thing, but i think new chargers are good for 40,000 miles then they need a rebuild. I'd look for evidence (receipts as proof) of a recent charger rebuild/replacement along with the belt being changed. I'm sure the belt would be changed as a matter of course during a rebulid anyway, but again, receipts are you're friend. Take a look on the G-Werks website as these guys have nothing but praise showered on them from all the G60 boys and girls on here. They are the supercharger guru's and are very helpful and approachable. With everything else just do the basic checks when test driving. Does the suspension seem soft? Does the steering feel positive? Is there any knocking or clunking? Drive the car in both left and right circles slowly to check if the drive shafts knock. Also drive along a bumpy road. This will highlight any clunking from top mounts, bushes etc. My rado drives smooth as on a nice road but when on a bumpy road the front clunks a bit and sometimes the n/s shocker squeeks!!! All this would not be noticed on a smooth road. Aside from this, BEFORE you test drive the car make sure the engine is stone cold, get a mate to fire it up and you check the exhaust for any blue or black smoke. And listen for any rattles from the engine on start up. I've no experience of G60's so don't know how they should sound from cold, but 1.8 16v's are known to clatter a tad from a cold start. Mine does with 123k on the clock but it does not burn any oil at all. Get on your knees and look under the engine for signs of oil or water leaks and give the engine a thorough checking for fluid leaks. Hopefully the owner(s) will have loads of receipts so you can see how the car has been looked after. From reading posts from the G60 peeps it is more a case of buying one with a file full of bills/receipts for work done at good garages and a good service history rather than trying to find a low miler with little or no evidence of repairs. There are people running G60's on here with 150k+ with sweet as a nut engines coz they've been looked after. Hope this helps, as i said i'm no expert in anyway shape or form!

Haven't heard the word 'smashing' in a long while!  Welcome to the forum mate!

As mentioned above, sit tight mate coz you have transport to get around giving you the luxury of being able to sit and wait for a good un'. Just keep checking the regular sites such as Autotrader, Pistonheads.com and http://www.carandclassics.co.uk One will turn up soon i'm sure :)

Aah, the Port!! Was gonna look out for ya if you were in the Caaadiff area!!!
-
Where abouts in South Wales are you mate?
-
Copper grease i believe. Its what my mechanic always uses anyway.
-
I'm a copper in Cardiff so can only speak for this force, but it does seem a tad dubious that any force would use a Corrado. Not so much the age of the thing (though that is a definite factor) moreover that its a 2 door vehicle which is not practical enough for putting suspects in the back of. A division of our traffic department run 2 plain black EVO FQ400's!!!!!!!! These have been openly featured in the local newspaper stating that suspects trying to get away has drastically reduced since purchasing the 2 'High performance saloons'!! On the Corrado front though, maybe that force is running an operation to specifically target a particular section of the public and such needs a vehicle that blends in to that target?? Be interesting to see those piccies tho dogfart!! Get snapping!
