1. I wondered if the lower bush in the damper was OK, where it connects to the rear beam, any movement? Then on the blow up of the damper, there are three number 15 nuts, the lowest one of those holds sleeve number 8 and the spring top cap down against a collar on the damper rod. You could have the top two nuts tight and preventing any movement there (which you've checked) whilst still having movement lower down because the lower nut isn't tight.
2. Received a teaser photo today!
3. On a hot day it’s hard to beat climate control, comes with the added bonus of being powerful enough to clear the screen on a wet day too!
4. Is the lower bush on the strut OK? How about the brake bias valve, it's in that corner although I wouldn't have thought it substantial enough to clunk. I've had the rear coilovers out of mine today to fit new platforms as they were seized up, mine are Konis but they have three nuts on the rears and I'm sure yours will be very similar. Is the lower nut that holds the spacer and spring top cap down to the shoulder on the rod tight? If not that might allow some movement and a clunk. The spacer I'm thinking of is part 8 in this screenshot.
5. Cutting into it from above might be the only solution but first it might be worth trying to drill the remaining bolt out from below, you might end up drilling the nut out of the bumper bracket but if it comes to pieces that’s not the end of the world is it. Don’t suppose the other three bolts come out either as you might be able to lift the bumper off if the broken one has broken near the thread? I put a temporary bolt in each side of mine while it was in pieces, drove it onto and off of car transporters, around the paint shop, in and out the garage etc, no problems.......wouldn’t recommend a trip to mainland Europe but shouldn’t stop you moving it about.
6. Front end on axle stands just below Belvoir Castle nr Grantham. There was a nice looking Scirroco there too. Got a photo but it’s pretty distant!
7. I hope it makes at least the estimate, the more the top ones make, the more it trickles down to the rest of us!
8. Thanks, it'll be nice to drive it again, further than the end of the drive anyway. I parked it up in August 2008 when I bought an R32 and have basically chipped away at it on and off ever since. I've had plans of making Stanford Hall every year since I was there last in 2014 but things have dragged on a bit, it was in the paint shop two years during which time we moved house so that's been number 1 priority the last couple of years. Seats and door cards are being re-trimmed and should be back next month, I'm fitting the last bits of interior trim at the moment after which I'll throw the scrap yard Golf seat back in so I can at least shuffle it around. I need to get the a/c re-gassed which may be interesting as it'll be the first time with the Mk4 Golf condenser and made up pipework. I did the tracking by eye and now can see that it toes out a little but on the whole it's closer than it's been in ages. Not too concerned about the MOT although the ABS light seems to have developed a mind of it's own.......over the weekend it was just staying on, I checked and cleared the codes after which it worked OK and now it's not even lighting when I switch on the ignition. Hopefully a decent run followed by clearing any codes before the test will sort it out.
9. Close to finished, almost ten years after taking it off the road. Runs, drives, stops, just needs some seats and we'll be going for an MOT!
10. Got all the new A/C pipes and hoses installed along with slam panel, lights and grill. Bumper and grill spoiler on tomorrow and I might put it on the floor........be the first time it resembles a complete car since 2014, as long as you ignore the missing interior! If the rain stops I may even drive it out of the garage for a wash, ten years off the road might be almost at an end?

ABS Control Unit

I just found this thread on the forum from a few years ago, might be of use. http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?76861-Abs-wiring-diagram Years ago I had a full copy of Corrado wiring diags on loan from the local dealer to use while I was fitting my climate control, wish I'd copied it all at the time...........or just stolen it!!!
12. Why do we continually suggest that every strongly priced Corrado is over priced, maybe it’s us, the owners that are keeping the price artificially low by doing so? I myself know this all too well as I’ve had my car almost eighteen years now, it cost £14K when I bought it and I’ve spent a fair amount over the years just keeping on top of stuff, I’m currently £2K down on a paint job plus a fortune on all the associated door and window seals etc, waiting for the interior retrim to be finished at £2K+ plus whatever else I’ve spent on bearings, bushes, cables, brake lines, air conditioning components etc etc. But when anyone asks me what it’ll be worth when I’ve finished all this I say five or six thousand.......maybe I should be saying at least ten to twelve thousand, if we all did this, maybe we could talk the value of the few remaining cars up rather than convincing the world they’re worthless???
13. I watched this on YouTube then dived in, it worked a treat!
14. I just pulled the hose off the fuel rail into a drum and pumped mine out using the new pump. Once I’d got as much out as it would pump I put five or six gallons of V Power in.
15. After mine had been in the body shop two years without being started the fuel had gone off and seized up the fuel pump. I swapped the pump and put fresh fuel in and got it to fire on a couple of cylinders only, had to get the injectors cleaned and tested. When it finally started it was very clattery for a good few minutes as the followers built up pressure.

8v2.0

Hi, welcome to the forum. 8v was only made for the last year of production and never sold in big numbers, as if any Corrados ever sold in big numbers! There can’t be too many of them left as they’ve always been overshadowed by the others but it’s still a Corrado isn’t it. Love the moonlight blue, great colour! Enjoy
17. Was really hoping to make this year but looking like the interior could still be at the trimmers..........might be a bit of a difficult drive getting there peering over the dash! How late will I be able to book a place?
18. Bought at 54K in September 2000, daily driver until taken off the road in 2008 and sat at 134K ever since............promise to finish it this year!!!
19. I'd love a G60 if I could possibly justify another Corrado. If you can possibly keep it G60, then surely it's the way to go and there must be g-laders out there somewhere. I guess it all depends on how much long you can manage without the car and how much you can justify spending?
20. Another vote for VW Heritage from me too :thumbleft:
21. It depends a lot on how deep your pockets are, I bought them all and spent a fortune to find some were unnecessary when I looked at them. The new boot seal and sunroof seal look hardly any different, the door seals however looked very tired where the kids had stood on them climbing into the back. Passenger window scraper seals seem to be obsolete so do take great care removing them (there are videos on YouTube demonstrating how to) I didn’t take care and ended up buying a complete passenger door off eBay just for the seal! If you’re careful you can remove just about anything without breaking, do as much as you can upfront and box everything up carefully to save body shop hours if possible. Buy some Auto Finesse Revive and set about all the black plastics and seals while they’re off the car, it works wonders. I removed the windscreen trims before getting the screen removed as they were unavailable at the time, and in doing so cracked the screen which cost another two hundred quid, I have seen trims for sale recently though so they’re probably worth investing in. Nothing much else broke as I remember, everything was fairly substantial.
22. That's not very far from me, in fact probably too close for comfort, I should stay away from Mansfield until it's sold, temptation might be too much and one classic green VR6 is enough for anyone!
23. Mansfield VW (Vertu). Eldest daughter's fiancé said there was a G60 owner came in for a brake fluid change yesterday, didn't tell me any more details but said he was a member on here!
24. £2200. It's a lump of money but I've had the car since September 2000 and it's not going anywhere so I think the investment is worth it!
