  1. They definitely look like 4-bolt hubs in VR carriers. Does the ABS ring fit properly?
  2. Where are they in Dorset? If you can get them to Exeter I can bring them up country for you...
  3. The exact same thing happened to me! The fuel pump and glow plugs share the same relay contacts but are wired in to different terminals in the fusebox. The glow plug wires come out on the engine harness, whereas the fuel pump is on the rear body harness, so you would never make the link until you powered it up and got sprayed in petrol! Once I worked it out I actually left mine wired up so that the in-tank lift pump primes the fuel system whenever you switch the ignition on. It helps start up faster, and makes swapping the fuel filter a lot easier too! I also fired mine up at exactly the same point as you :D I love the sound of a turbo diesel with an open downpipe!
  4. Yeah kinda... Thats not even including the three Corrados on the driveway! :cat:
  5. I'm up for that! 2nd weekend (14th / 15th) is best for me :)
  6. Yes they were ;) Definitely on G60 and 16V with 4-bolt suspension. I've only seen the other type of top mounts on VR6s.
  7. Ok as first to post up Eddy and Chris get the painted ones :) Phil & Chris - I've not found any big enough boxes to ship your wings in so I might have to delay shipping them by a day or two. I'm sorry about that but I'm sure you'd prefer I sent them safely than risk damaging them. Hopefully I can find something suitable over the weekend. :cat:
  8. Ok I have the spoilers!! :D They are all pretty nice, especially the CF one Will post pics later. Who is having the painted fronts? Has that been agreed yet? If not, then this needs to be sorted by tomorrow so I know where they are going. Phil & Chris - will get yours sent on Monday as promised. Eddy - got your number. Will call tomorrow pm. Nathan & Shaun - email sent. Call me tomorrow if you can. :cat:
  9. Thanks guys :) Away from home at the mo, but I expect them to be waiting for me on Thursday / Friday when I get back. Nathan - pickup in Exeter is fine. I will email on Thursday with my number to make arrangements. Shaun - I can drop yours off on my way home Monday evening. I'll be going down the M1 from Leeds, so email me contact details please. Eddy - We can meet up over the weekend with yours - also email me contact details please. Phil & Chris - will get yours packed up over the weekend and shipped on Monday. Just Supercharged Will outstanding ;)
  10. It is totally only the bolt that holds the sprocket on there. The tooth is there solely for locating the sprocket in the right place while it is tightened up. What takes all the torque is the friction between the sprocket and the crank nose - friction that is generated by the tightened bolt. This is evident from the fact that when the bolt comes loose the forces on the sprocket cause the tooth to come apart. :)
  11. "Given the Windsor’s German heritage, the BMW M3 Royal Edition should make for the ideal wedding gift." April fools y'all :D
  12. Ironic that I'm mentioned in this thread, as my Corrado TDI is the one thats now getting the V8 :D PD engines are nice, but far more complicated than the early ones to fit, and still very expensive. Theoretically you can get the same power from the VE-pump engines like the AHU and AFN for a lot less money and they are almost plug and play. I say theoretically, since I still haven't found anyone in the UK who can remap the damn things since they require eproms burning and sockets soldering to the ECU. The Americans can do it, but thats prohibitively expensive, so thus far mine are stuck at 110hp :(
  13. Yes you can actually ;) Unscrew the speedo cable from the top of the 'box and screw on a digital sensor. It needs 12V and ground, and it will give you the Vehicle Speed Signal that the digital clusters use. The Corrado mechanical cluster generates the VSS from a hall sender on the back of the speedo, which it then conditions and feeds to the rest of the electronics - spoiler, cruise control, etc. The digital cluster gets the VSS straight from the sender on the 'box, conditions that, and again sends it out to everything else. The mk4 / A3 cluster uses the same sender that digital Corrados have, so it ought to work in the same way. You do need it to have an output to feed the spoiler with though. An early one should have this as it will feed it back to the engine ECU amongst other things. A later CAN one won't though so you need to be careful you get the right one. Hope that helps :)
  14. Hi everyone, The customs notice has finally arrived. Unfortunately its ~20% over my initial estimate (grr) so taxes (mostly vat) are as follows: 70mm front spoiler - £20 Rear wing - £30 My paypal is madv8@madasafish.com. I'm expecting payments from the following people: 70MM Front Spoiler Eddy.H fendervg 1xshaunx1 nathan corradophil Fiberglass Rear Wing supercharged will If you can all make payment asap please I will pay customs tomorrow and get everything released. Postage costs are still £20 each unless we can meet up. I regularly do a circuit from Exeter - Manchester - Leeds so anywhere on that route is feasible. I seem to remember someone was in North London too? If so then my sister lives in North Finchley so we can sort something out there too. Email me if we can meet up, otherwise let me know your address with the paypal payment. Mikki :)
  15. Same bearing as the mk4, but the bolt spacing of the mk2/3/Corrado. The Polo uses a single-piece disc, rather than the mk4's hub and disc setup. Not sure which calipers the Polo uses - probably cheap mk3 cast iron ones rather than the expensive mk4 ally ones. Apparently the Corrado calipers do fit though. I want to do this on my mk2, but haven't found a Polo with rear discs in the scrappers yet, and at £180-ish for the stub axles I ain't buying new ones!!!
  16. No ham sorry ;) They are standard M12 bolts. Get some M12 threaded bar / studding from B&Q or hardware store and a bunch of plain nuts and cut it to length :)
  17. Its nearly live data, as much as the computer can keep up with what the engine is doing. VAG-COM can do data logging and make graphs of data like that, so you should be able to take it for a run and log what the boost is doing.
  18. The parts are only from the diesel model, not all 6N Polos, so be sure it is the right one. As far as I know any mk4 shifter should work in this housing. The Polo tunnel is the same as the mk2 / Corrado, so thats why it fits, as opposed to the mk4 tunnel which is very different. Basically you need a mk4 shifter setup and these three parts and you can build one that fits the 'rado. I'm pretty sure this setup fits the 02M as well - afaik that has the same shift tower as the 02J, but I'm not 100%. @poll250 - yes the parts are still available new. They used to be on back order in the UK, but I have shipped so many sets to the USA that now they keep them in stock at Milton Keynes and at my local TPS :D Here's the original thread on Vortex that started me supplying these parts to the guys in the US: http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?4668026-Euro-Shifter-parts-options-for-retrieving-and-slight-rant And a pic from that thread: The Polo housing is at the bottom. :cat:
  19. There are three parts you need. The mk4 Polo shifter housing and baseplate, and a lever for the mechanism. The three parts allow you to mount the mk4 02J shifter mechanism in a housing which bolts in to the Corrado. Part numbers: 6n0 711 061 a houseing 6n0 711 090 a base plate 6n0 711 611 c selector arm Those are the only three Polo parts. All the others are mk4 (cables, tower, etc). They are about £50 new from VW. Hope that helps :)
  20. If you are using a mk3 loom then you need to strip the lighting and ancillaries out of it, as the Corrado has a separate harness for those. Thats what one of the big multiplugs is for. You really need the mk3 loom and Corrado engine loom next to each other so you can see what to leave in the mk3 loom as you strip it. Thats what I did when I put a TDI in mine. The mk3 loom will be about 2 feet too long iirc, but you can wrap that up and tuck it on top of the fusebox, or wrap it round the strut tower with (I think) the lighting loom. I'm sure there is a good write up on this conversion on Vortex. I'll have a look for it later if I get a chance :)
  21. Just for info, I'll need payment for the import duty n stuff once James ships the final order so that its clear by the time everything gets here. If you would like shipping in the UK then you can send that at the same time, or let me know where you are so we can sort out collection :) Mikki
  22. We could do with an updated roll-call too, now people have seen the import duty and UK shipping prices. Locations would be handy too, so we can work out whether parts can be collected or couriered.
  23. I used to run two alternators on my mk2 Polo many years ago. The stock 55A for the car, and a 90A hybrid for the stereo! It worked perfectly, with a second battery in the boot. It was all controlled by a relay on the ignition, so the two systems were completely electrically isolated on the +ve side, sharing the car body as ground. I only did it because there wasn't a decent alternator I could find that would fit on the Polo's 1.3 at the time, but it did help with preventing any electrical noise from getting in to the stereo. Always helpful when the sound-off judges play their zero-data track lol! It also meant I could play the stereo all day without the engine running and still drive home afterwards - useful for bbqs n shows n stuff ;-)
