Some of you may recall that I picked up a set of mystery BBS wheels for silly money not too long ago. At the time, my suspicion was that they were a set of Subaru wheels due to the high off-set. I e-mailed a photo to BBS and sure enough, they were a set of limited edition forged wheels that had been made for Subaru. As such they were never named or supplied by BBS. At some stage, some-one had had the centre bore machined out to 57.1 and with the help of some H+R hub centric spacers they are a perfect fit for a 5x100 VW. They are destined for my MK3 2.8 VR6 Cabriolet and I doubt if they will ever grace the Corrado. After stripping and polishing the dishes we treated them to a coat of Fiat Oceanic Blue paint, new valves, centre caps and tyres and the before and after photos are shown below.

Can't put an actual figure on the drop but it's by no means extreme. The car is on Koni coilovers and 16 inch staggered Porsche rims with 195/45s on the front and 205/45s on the back. The ride is very civilised in all conditions with no scrubbing, cashing or banging,

No promises, but you could try Marty Dubiki who runs his own mobile auto spark business. He's well into his old VWs, is based just outside Comber and he'd be my first port of call for anything electrical. His number is 07851399261.

Spring loaded rubber bump stops from the new Scirocco ............ part number 1K8 827 761D ............... £3.78 + vat from VW I've used them in the past just to pop the tailgate away from the latch when the rear handle has been removed and a solenoid boot release fitted. They also come on the current shape Seat Leon.

How is the front speakers supposed to be fastened?
leon263 replied to Mawrick's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
The two speakers at either end of the dash are actually small tweeters which are mounted in a circular plastic plate which is approx. 98mm in diameter. Check out the photos below and you will see that they are actually a push fit into the dash and are held in place by three spring clips. The mesh covers are also just a push fit into the dash and have four pegs on the under side. Each tweeter has four terminals into which two plugs fit. The signal comes from the radio into the tweeter via one plug, through it and then on down to the woofer in the door via the other plug. Basically one plug is signal in and the other is signal out. In OEM condition the woofer in the door will not work if the tweeter is missing unless the signal in and signal out wires are joined where the tweeter should be. I think that this is what has happened in your case by the look of things. When I bought my current Corrado I had no music from the front door speakers and I eventually found that the tweeters were missing. I finished up with two sets and the set you see below are surplus to requirements. They can be yours for £10 posted. If you are interested, drop me a PM. There are a couple of sets on e-bay at the moment with a 99p starting bid. I'll not be offended if you go for them .......... at least now you know how the system should work. -
Replaced the clutch slave cylinder so now I have a clutch again. Check out the one that came out

I had an interesting experience last week when, on my way from Belfast back to Bangor, I completely lost the use of the clutch. I was just pulling away from lights and was changing from 3rd to 4th when the pedal went completely to the floor and stayed there. The next 15 miles were pretty interesting, trying to anticipate lights etc, while stuck in 3rd gear. I managed to struggle home and my son and I had a look at things that evening. Everything looked OK with plenty of fluid in the reservoir and no apparent leaks. We tried to bleed the system with no success so we disconnected the feed to the slave cylinder and operated the pedal to test the master cylinder. All was in order so the slave cylinder seemed to be the culprit. I ordered on from the internet for £43 and fitted it to-day. Check out the photo below to see the state of the one that came out. It had totally disintegrated and came away in two pieces. We bolted in the new one, bled it and I have a happy Corrado again. At a guess, I'd imagine there might be some clutch fluid in the bottom of the bell housing but the clutch if fine so far. I'm quite surprised at the total failure of the slave cylinder as the car has only 95k on it but all in all, it could have been worse.

They are made slightly undersize, so you just set them into place and gently tap them home with a hammer.......... they are purely an interference fit.

With those wheels you will have 4mm less clearance behind the wheel which will be no problem. The problem will be that the face of the wheel will sit 60mm further out than the face of the standard wheel. I'd imagine that this would entail arch work. Check out the site at the link below, it's invaluable for giving you an idea of where different wheels will sit in comparison to standard wheels. Standard Speedlines are 6.5 inches wide and are et43. http://www.1010tires.com/Tools/Wheel-Offset-Calculator

Standard VR6 Speedlines are 15 x 6.5, et43 with 205.50 tyres ........... you'll be fine.

Check out the link below. As stated above, they are glued in or taped in from behind. http://www.arz-tuning.de/shop/product_info.php/info/p2979_Chrome-Gauge-Rings---VW-Corrado---Passat---T4.html

Try an e-bay search for 'speed clips', also known as 'spire clips' or 'U clips'. I'm off on holiday for a week, if you can wait till I get back, PM me your details and I'll send you a couple of dozen FOC.

Is this the type of thing you mean ........ commonly referred to as 'body screws' and from memory that's what hold the wings on. As mentioned, daves16v did a stainless kit containing enough for both wings http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/L-K-BODY-ACME-SCREWS-HEX-HEADED-CAPTIVE-WASHER-14-x-3-4-QTY-25-/310616447630?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item48522eda8e

Khan are a quality wheel but 18s on a Corrado are a no no, just too big and the ride will be horrendous.
-
Yeah, I quite like those, what are they and what size?

I've used this tape with great results. It's a rubber tape as opposed to fabric, has no adhesive on it and simply self amalgamates (sticks to itself) when you wrap it on. Being rubber it stretches and is great for getting round odd bends, joints etc in the loom. Once amalgamated it is totally waterproof. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Self-Amalgamating-Tape-rubber-sealing-Repair-Satalite-10m-Roll-car-Fusing-/291080876338?pt=UK_Sound_Vision_Other&hash=item43c5c5b132

Hi mate, I may be able to help you with an ABS master cylinder. I have one which I removed from my 1993, 2 litre MK3 Golf Cabby when I upgraded it to VR6 power, brakes and running gear. The part number on the cylinder is 10.6123-0690.3 and it's an ATE unit. As you can see from the photos below it only has the two outlets for the two lines running to the ABS pump. It was working perfectly when removed. I've typed that part number into Google and found a discussion on this very subject, on this Forum from 2012. The cylinder is 23mm internal and the general consensus of opinion seems to be that is compatible with the Corrado. Check your part number and have a read through the Corrado Forum posts on Google. If you think this one will do your job, drop me a PM.
