  1. Bummer, 18's or 19's? Bloke on ebay called vag-wheels has been good for buying off recently for me. Good tip for anyone is to put in a value for the penny's section i.e. £600.25 A lot of people always bid in round numbers and you will win if they put in the same pound number as you. I won a set of intercooler for the RS4 earlier today by 40p doing this. Chuffed.
  2. Its a good article to highlight that there is issues if its not regulated properly, something that the UK would do I think.
  3. Yes its an industry website but I would say thats narrow minded to think like that. They are highlighting the issues with fracking and saying that there is an alternative to the water fracking. I think your perceprtion of oil companies is all wrong or at least the people who work in them, they do actually care about making as little impact as possible. We dont all walk about with Stetsons and cowboys boots drilling into anything and everything. Its a necessary evil drilling and producing oil.
  4. Interesting - http://www.rigzone.com/news/oil_gas/a/129261/Fracking_Goes_Waterless_Gas_Fracking_Could_Silence_Critics/?all=HG2
  5. Just realised over 2 years of ownership on this. I think thats a record for me. Nothings changed, still as is. Cant really be arsed spending any real money on it so it will be the same for a while I think and just get regular services/thrashes. I heard Compomotive have gone bust so glad I bought these wheels with a spare now.
  6. Gauge tastic!! Is the wideband working okay now? I had to shave the pads I put in, they were Mintex IIRC and were good on track. I liked the brakes.
  7. The key phrase is - the closer you live to a well used to hydraulically fracture underground shale for natural gas, the more likely it is that your drinking water is contaminated with methane. Thats like saying the closer you live to an airport the more chance a plane will land on your house. It doesnt mean it will happen. What they need to say (after determing were it came from) is how much they are finding and if it is at a level that will cause any harm. They also need to look at the well design/ placement as this could be from when they first started and didnt appreciate potential leak paths. Im not saying it isnt the cause but need more facts first.
  8. Mmmm, I was only down past thier last week as well.
  9. That looks spot on. I actually think it would look better with the tip coming straight out of the bumper and not angled but that does get away from OEM look.
  10. Looks good, silver is the best IMO.
  11. Totally depends on wheel width and riginal offset. IIRC they are ET60 before spacers so 25mm should be okay if wheels are 8in wide.
  12. That the key, you need exactly the same diameter. RH spacers are what Id use.
  13. You bolts on the adaptor to the hubs. If you look at the adaptor they do not have a centering ring around the inner hole as the wheels use the outer OD of the spacer to sit on and locate. You then bolt the wheel to the adaptor.
  14. You can see it here - http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?5904030-RH-ZW1-Wheels.-Two-piece-17-quot-Staggered-with-Adapters.
  15. They are specific to RH wheels. The wheels hub have a shallow recess machined into them that you then use to locate the wheel onto the adapter that has been bolted to the car. Anybody selling the wheels should really be selling the adaptors as well as they can only really be used on RH wheels.
  16. Thats the issue, you only hear about something that happened many moons ago when someone probably drilled very close to the water table. This is not the case now, its not in the oil companies interest to create any issues so they will avoid and design the wells to negate or eliminate this. You are right though all the facts need to be published on a balanced basis, it just appears to me everyone is fed the potential issues by the media without putting these into perspective. There probably more potential harm from industries on the surface polluting the water table than this but we all accept that now as its regulated as this will be if it goes ahead.
  17. Yeah that old picture always comes out of someone turning on a tap an gas coming out. That was a long time ago when there was not a lot of the current practices and limitations in place. It will not happen now.
  18. Not sure on the tree loss as this happens thousands of feet underground and they have a minimum distance set to drill from the well to water table so water is safe. Companies are aware of this concern and are creating organic safe fluids that will be pumped. It will scar the landscape to start with when drilling rig in place but they should be able to hide the surface equipment that deals with the gas once the rig has buggered off. It wont be perfect, nothing is, but I do think it should be limited to start with to understand the logistics for UK wells.
  19. Some good points. Jim I work for Halliburton and believe me I know we are not squeeky clean but the press do like to paint a picture worse than it is, much the same for the likes of BP etc. The idea and technology itself has been around for a long time and there is a massive amount of this going on in the states, they are getting to the point that they may almost be self sufficient soon instead of being one of the biggest importers on the globe. The problem is in the US they have the large barron lands that this can be done on, our problem is the UK is simply too crowded. Knowing what I know I believe this is a safe practice that we have nothing to worry about. If its there we should get it out I believe but not at the cost of destroying large parts of the country. Believe me this is the next big thing globally as they are looking to do this on a global scale in places like Australia, South Africa, Turkey, Tunisia, Ukraine and many other. China is also trying to become a major player in this. It will happen so its a point whether we start doing it here and to what extent or we get left behind. Its like anything else, the decision is how deep we get involved. Oh and if you want to properly look to the future look into ice methane hydrates.
  20. I am intrigued to know peoples thoughts on the fracking row that has arisen and those that are now protesting. Im just wondering that peoples inital reaction is and what they are basing that on.
  21. Cars are looking good. I was in Poole over the weekend but didnt spy any Corrado's. In fact in 1300+ miles I did last week and didnt see one.
  22. I totally understand the reasoning. Does that mean Bill is Corrado less then.....?
  23. Mmmmmm, I have this photo saved on my computer to remind me what they would look like. What are they like for weight?
