You will notice a difference. I did a whole days track day with the same pads with no fade, once hot they work really well.
-
Cool, Im game I think. The more I think about it the more I want to go for it. Always promised myself a proper project and I think this could be it. If its relatively feasible it will have FI of some sorts.

Okay Im considering going this route with my Corrado and have the perfect donor car - my daily 2001 V6 Golf 4mo. Other than the engine, some ancillaries, loom and ECU is there anything else required? Reason being I would probably break the donor car to get some money back, I could even keep the box & haldex system if I wanted to go all out and turbo the thing. In fact it might be a good chance to do a 2.8 24v turbo or supercharged on the car when doing the engine swap.
-
Biggerbigbens old car. Good find for a project expecially as he has the haldex rear as well.
-
It would maybe be better if you had a Mk1 & Mk2 Golf Gti as well. Ive seen loads of the campers and theres those Caterham hire as well. Although those that want one tend to have one and would be prepaired to drive up here I think so Im not so sure.
-
£3-4k to it right yourself I reckon but thats including a £1200 odd new turbo.
-
Yeah to me that would be one of those dont build a car you can buy moments. The R32 is a great all round package its a pity the bhp per £ tuning is not worth the gains. Its does seem to suffer from the same RS style tax I encounter.
-
No it aint, try one you'll see. I didnt realise they did the exhaust for these. As long as it doesnt do the horrible tinny noise that Ive heard some R's do it will be ace and good to see a non Miltek, they fair have a monopoly.

Hope you enjoy, I loved mine. -
Knowing what I know that is a good choice. 0.62 might be a tad small though, will certainly make it more responsive.
-
I have to admit I wouldnt run one if it was my only car but then thats just because it wouldnt suit my needs. You get very capable cars for next to nothing these days. There will always be bills and things go wrong, thats just cars. You will regret selling/breaking it, thats enevitable. If you dont want those hassles get a new car on HP and swap every 3 years but you will lose money doing that. The only thing is peice of mind and factory warranty.

I was acutally just thinking of doing the same with the same colour to mine at the weekend. It looks brilliant.

Mmmmmm, tempting -
Cheers, didnt realise they are 3.9FD though. Maybe a bit too low.

No problem.

Did you ever sell this? Looking into this mod now.

Open pit is the best then you can come and go as you please. Its not that bad with the faster cars on circuit they always tend to give you room/time and its easy to let them past plus its good having a target to chase. Sessions tend to be more manic as people are aware they only have a certinaly amount of time on track. All sounds good with the level of enthusiasm so far.
-
Yeah it is best to involve it in another thing to ensure numbers but I think looking for an existing trackday that is being run is the best idea then seeing if we can get a good number of cars along to that particular date. That way any organisation is taken out of it and everyone is responsible for thier own booking. ---------- Post added at 1:08 PM ---------- Previous post was at 1:06 PM ---------- or lets try and get a Ring/Spa trip organised for next year.......

Nice, even Oulton is a 4-5hr drive for me....
-
Im keen but places like Brands etc are a long long way for me. Thats why I suggested Oulton etc as they are relatively central (for you guys). Im afraid this will not be cheap folks, you are probably looking at about £150 for a day I would say. Then there is petrol etc as well although I only used about half a tank for a full day on Sat. Dont worry about weather as its good fun in the wet as well sliding about. In fact it evens things up a little.
-
888's are too expensive now. PLenty of cheaper as good alternatives. My 288's were fine with DS2500 pads.
-
Get it a bit further North please...... Oulton is a great circuit and not far off the M6 or Donnington or even Cadwell but thats a bit more out in the sticks.
-
Strangely mine always feels a lot smoother after a track day. Car loosk really nice. You should have seen my tyres after a full day of it on Saturday!!!
-
Just got mine delivered, thanks.

There is a whole thread dedicated to turboing and supercharging the VR in this part of the forum. Basically though yes you can do that and all you need to do is fit a spacer head gasket to lower the compression ratio. You then need all the other bits for the turbo i.e. turbo, exhaust manifold, wastegate, injectors, intercooler, assocated oil/water lines, remap and a efw other bits like ARP rod and head bolts. Or got to Stealth and they will do it for you for probably about £5-6k now.
