  1. My car is going to Stealth on Monday to have the Vortech V1 stage 2 kit fitted (been waiting a long time!). Couple of questions: I spoke to them earlier in the week and was told that they had a set of Schimmel 263 cams on the shelf. Naturally I had to have them! Anyone know if it compliments a charged VR well, and if I can expect a bit more low down grunt? I am not sure where Stealth will route the cone filter, google suggests that most people put it down in the wing. My car has a Ram Air filter which is fecking huge, and I am guessing that this won't fit (I could be wrong?). What is the best route to take in terms of intake? Cheers
  2. I really hope Kevin Philips is with us next season, but you never know. He has been a brilliant substitute option when we needed goals. Craigowl, Speroni has been at Palace for almost 10 years - immense goalkeeper! Won't say much about Hillsborough - but if Palace had been relegated, chances are we wouldn't exist as a club today!
  3. Love the pics! Was at Wembley the other day for the playoff final :D
  4. Was a great day out, thanks Ron for organising - had a good time. Loads of different cars to check out and the Motorsport was excellent. Also nice to meet the others. Annoyingly forgot my camera, so used my girlfriends phone to take some pics which came out awful (thought the Galaxy S3 camera was supposed to be good?! Nick
  5. Darn, never thought it would be in bits! Was a monster on the road. If you are serious of splitting any bits then I'd definitely be interested in an oil cooler, water/methanol and big brakes if you have them. I have to ask how much you'd want for all the turbo bits though... feel free to PM me ;) I've since moved from my old place and no longer have a garage which is annoying. I do however have a volvo estate which is basically a rolling parts storage unit so I could quite easily take anything off your hands! My C should be on show at "Motorsport at the Palace" this Sunday btw, I am still waiting for my ticket to arrive though. Nick
  6. Well you would say that ;) but it was your charged VR that made me want to do mine! What happened to it? Long time no see though, hope you're well?

I have a late classic green one, I bought it about a year ago but never used, in fact it is still boxed so I can't tell you the condition yet. Free if you collect, need the space! Nick
  8. Good to know that Stealth know of the problem now. Hopefully the V1 will be good enough for me, althought I've read up on vortex that it is LOUD. hmmm, I'm more for the understated look but hopefully it'll be a good loud. Funnily enough, the people I'v spoken to around here who have gone VRT had chargers before :( I suppose you end up getting used to things after a while.
  9. Hello, I remember seeing yours too - Nice car. Didn't you drive all the way back to Anglesey or something?! I know of a couple of VRTs for sale, but I've spent a fair bit of time and money on my paint, interior etc. Never seen Crazy Daves one, was he at Stanford Hall? Well, that doesn't fill me with much confidence! Maybe a Vortech eats MAFs or something ;(
  10. I reckon I've made the right choice in keeping the corrado at least! Also a charger can be removed fairly easily if needed. Did you ever find out why it was stalling? I hope the charger just gives it that extra oomph when wanted, 296bhp sounds good!
  11. Thanks all for the replies - and I've done a lot of thinking! I weighed out the options, with the VRT and M3 both having their good and bad points. One shared factor though was cost. Despite a VRT stage 1 kit costing £5.5k, there would be loads of other things to consider, and I reckon I'd have to spend the best part of £10k to get it to how I'd like. Not cheap! In this case I had to think with my head, and plough a fair chunk of my budget into my home (boring I know!). All is not lost though - I've decided to keep the Corrado for a little bit longer! But I still crave more power, so to squeeze a bit more out without spending VRT money I decided to go down the Supercharger route. Rotrex was my first choice, but I grabbed the first kit I found for sale which is a Vortech V1 Stage 2 kit. I remember being a passenger in a V9 a few years back and that thing shifted enough for me to nearly change my underwear (perhaps due to being a passenger with no control!). Have everything needed, save for needing a new boost pipe made up. The previous owner had his golf dyno'd at 290ish bhp at Stealth so hopefully mine will be similar. Booked it in to Stealth for June 10th. In the meantime I'll be looking at Mocals and Water/Methanol Injection. I'm also using my trip to the US as an opportunity to buy a wilwood caliper kit. Guess I'll be travelling light to allow for the extra weight! Thanks again for everyones contributions Nick PS - If any experts are reading - What intake would you reccomend? I currently have Ram Air, and I'm not sure if that's going to fit down in the wing!
  12. Cheers Coullstar - now also advertised on VR6OC :)
  13. That was me ;) We have a thread here: http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?81095-Group-Buy-feeler-Devils-Own-Water-Injection-Kits
  14. I think there is a bit of a difference between using a phone and playing a game on an ipad while driving though! Feel like a McChicken sandwich now!
  15. Good idea - just checked with him and he says it's fine to use any number of forums we like :)
  16. Craig sells it better than I can! :) If anyone is a member of other forums then please let them know. Would be nice to get a 17.5% saving
  17. Ladies and Gents, I've been speaking to the guy behind methanol-injection.co.uk about the possibility of a group buy for a Devils Own kit. The site is: http://www.methanol-injection.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=21&products_id=28 The beauty of this group buy is that applies to any mix of kits, as well as any extras that you wish to buy with it. Discount is as follows: 12% off for 2-4 kits 15% off for 5-9 kits 17.5% off for 10+ kits Any interest? Nick
  18. Informative as ever, thanks for clearing things up. I've just checked the US prices for a peloquin, looking at around £550. No idea what the price is over here as I can't find any for sale! Forgot to say LOL @ the M5 blown head gasket story. Must have been an awkward moment! A VRT and an M3?! That's just greedy! :) Thanks for the reply, interesting to hear an M3 owners perspective. Couple of questions I can think of off the top of my head: - You mentioned sinking £15k into yours. If you don't mind me asking, was that for the complete turbo set up or does that price include rims, paint, ice, etc etc. Trying to gauge how much on top of the Stealth 5.5k is needed. I'm thinking around £10k total at the moment, but £15k is a different ball game. I guess some things I can upgrade at a later date... - Which do you prefer?! :norty: I wish I could make a definite decision soon, but Stealth won't be available to work on the car until Sept-Oct and I'll have to call them in July before I can pay a deposit (as they don't know their workload till then). A lot can change in a matter of months, but so far the idea of a VRT is growing on me Nick
  19. Wow, again I come back and there's loads of good advice - it's appreciated. I'll try my best to keep up! Hi Kev, it's nice to know that a turbo can be a reliable setup if done correctly. I have no doubts about Stealths capability as they are rated so highly on the forum. Alex303 has raised a valid point to me regarding a turbo install. I know Stealth have quoted me £5.5k for the Stage 1 kit, and I know that there are other things I'd need to buy (ARPs, TCS, Brakes, Clutch, etc). Would you have any idea of the actual cost of a reliable turbo conversion by them? Also, seeing as you are Mr. Turbo - I am going to the US in July (Chicago followed by LA if it makes any difference). Is it worth buying any bits over there to save some money? I know there's the Peloquin or Quaide LSDs available, but don't know which is better. If I went the VRT route then the Corrado would be a keeper. The only thing lacking at the moment is the performance - granted it's great for its age, but against modern metal it barely keeps up. As mentioned before, I have another car for normal duties so this would be a toy :norty: Good point. My "daily" has all of the modern features needed (save for a built in sat nav), the corrado has enough IMO with its heated seats and air con (once I get it fixed!). I think that in an E46 I'd get a lot of "wrist exerciser" signs as opposed to a thumbs up like in the Corrado! Didn't get a chance to say hello at Stanford Hall by the way - sorry about that. Wasn't intentionally being an arse or anything! Did have a poke around your motor when you weren't there - want your seats! Looked lovely. Thanks for the input chazrad - it's hearing stuff like that which makes me think a VRT is the only option to go! I remember speaking to Jim (aka The_Dude) of this parish, who went from a Vortech to a turbo. He said that while the Vortech was good, nothing compares to a VRT. I know some may have an issue with sinking money into a motor that I won't get back, but we all do it for the love to an extent! Ever since I bought my 16v 6 years ago I wanted a VR6 (the natural progression)... surely a VRT is the next logical step? :norty: Nick
  20. Wow, thanks all for the replies. I'm weighing my options after reading everything. What's definite is that I want a faster car! Clumpy, I was also looking at some Pork but in my price bracket they'd most likely be ropier examples (and I don't want a boxster - no ragtops for me). I also hate the 996 interior! For now I'll just be thinking about an E46 M3 as an E39 M5 could bend me over if it broke :) I do about 4000 miles a year in the Corrado, I have access to another car for normal driving duties and get a train in to London for work so MPG isn't really an issue. I've compiled a little list, feel free to add to it as my knowledge is lacking, and I don't particularly feel like trawling through hundreds of pages on the FI thread: Corrado VRT Pros: It's a Corrado! And I've spent a lot of money and time on getting it to an acceptable standard looks wise. It would make Merc drivers angry :norty: Reliable and could be used faily if needed "Absolutely devastating" according to Jim Power all over the rev range Corrado VRT Cons: Having to wait for it to warm up to temp before giving it the beans (although I do this anyway to an extent) Not used during short journeys Expensive install compared to buying another car outright (Stealth quoted £5.5k minus head bolts, fuel pump, clutch, brakes, TCS) Drinks like a fish (as expected) Not so good in the wet? Stealth won't be able to fit it until at least September-October! E46 M3 Pros: Excellent value for money More creature comforts Properly quick and can seat passengers comfortably RWD Highly rated by journos and enthusiasts alike Could go searching for one now E46 M3 cons: Looking like a flush chav ;) Potential rear subframe issues Potential VANOS issues? Still depreciating? Insurance issues? (a friend with an E36 M3 paid a fortune) That's all I can think of for now. Ben's correct though, I need to go test drive both ideally... C5 OEM - I understand where you're coming from, and it would make more sense. But it seems hard to let go of the Corrado, and as been said before it is a much cooler car and I'd most likely regret getting rid. Nick
  21. I do still look back at it! Even when indoors I'll have a peek out the window :( I have spent a fair wedge on tarting it up to my liking and making it mechanically sound, but I've become bored with the power. Probably would regret selling which is why I thought upping the power would make it a keeper for sure, but the things you've mentioned have got me thinking. If a VRT isn't all it lives up to be as you say, then the thought of something like an E46 M3 would make more sense (despite the fact that they are everywhere, they seem like the best bang for your buck) Maybe I need to hear some of the positives too - what's it like when you hit the loud pedal What cars can you keep up with? What's the low down pull like? :norty:
  22. Sorry, missed this post the first time round - thanks for your input. Only ever heard good things about going VRT so this is an interesting perspective too, things i'd never considered! The Corrado only does about 4k miles a year (i get a train to work but also have another car for "normal" duties), but every now and then I'll nip to the shops in it. Is the mpg really that woeful? Makes me wonder if rotrex'ing it would be preferable now! Aah, were you in the corner? Think I may have spotted you in that case. Thanks for the kind words, but looking around at all the other cars makes me realise there's so much I could still do! Surprised you saw my car, had a fat Scirocco parked in front
  23. I have, although I was thinking of £/bhp. Not exactly sure what an R32 lump would cost, but factor in the fact that i'd give my car to a garage (a conversion like that is wayyy beyond my capabilities to do properly) it could soon all add up. There's also a certain charm to the 12v VR6 ;) Your car looks evil, love it! I did phone Stealth to discuss. The price for the turbo kit is now more than was quoted on the forum (which was 3 years ago to be fair, but still reasonable). I also know that I'd need an uprated fuel pump, clutch, brakes, head bolts, etc etc. They said they won't be able to work on it till October, so it would be a long wait! Were you at Stanford Jim? Looked around for you (and davidwort) but there were a few green VR6s and not knowing what either of you looked like didn't help! Nick
