I heard a about that a few months ago and watched the vid's, i think unless you hear it yourself, im always of the mind that videos can be tampered with. http://www.abovetopsecret.com/index.php Lots of stuff on there. I think there are also plenty of natural phenomena that we don't understand, lets hope its something like that.

Does this count as a problem? Wheel history..
daleyboy replied to bristolbaron's topic in General Car Chat
..........you seem to be a nut for wheels....... -
Start a thread in the "wanted" section i'm sure someone will help you out.... :salute:
-
Seems to be an excuse for bristolbaron to show off how many wheels he's had..........not that i'm jealous or anything........... :norty:

I think the back plates are still available from VW and they are not much money, so unless your backplates are pristine i would have thought it better you change them.
-
...........but who of what ? I still think you have a Swedish student living at your place, maybe you think her curtains don't matching the carpet, so you just have to check............
-
So your not going to spill the beans ?
-
Its very easy to empathise with the chap, it is his pride and joy, your right Wendy we all care about this one, and want a happy ending..........
-
Man that is drastic, good job you knew her otherwise you'd be going into the wrong entrance of the local cop shop......
-
There could be a few genuine reasons for this, but all i can think of is a female Swedish student in the bathroom who rents a room from him..............

Good stuff, post the results up here and we'll see where we are with it, did you send the chap a note specifically asking for the INA ones ?
-
Cheers Captain :thumb right:
-
Have you got a link or a user name for him ?
-
...but are the gsf ones febi or ina ?
-
Fair play mate, i do things the other way round, i think its simple, give it a poke, break it, then regret for weeks.......... :bonk:
-
I heard a rumour that GSF sell's the INA one's which i believe are the ones supplied by the stealers, although it was from a thread a few years old. I looked on GSF's website and it doesn't tell you which make they are, all they say is premium quality which could mean anything.............

I think, sheets and blankets under a car cover, if you can't stop them kicking a ball at your car you can only try to stop it damaging it. Also your not paranoid, no one can hang off my doors lean up against it eat in it or even say bad thing about it (not in its presence anyway). Options ; 1) Lose it, all this will do is alienate them, and turn you mad. 2) Live with it, to them its "just" a car and they don't see why its so upsetting, the long and the short is just cover it. Is there no way to construct something temporary like a lean-to or something, how about a free standing marquee-type thing ? Please don't threaten me with Chuck Norris who im sure would do a full ninja routine on me, make a decorative piece of attire from my innards, eat it, then i'll never try to help someone on this forum again.......

Ok all received, i knew i had to take the side plate off i just thought i could do it without disturbing anything, i shall try this in the next couple of weeks, i have done numerous cam belts but this is a bit different, i suppose i can always post up a question if needs be......thanks chaps....:salute:

How did you get on Harrier in changing them ?, why not give us your top tips.... I was thinking about it and thought can i just unscrew the tensioner on the chain a tad then unscrew the cam bolts and just change the cams without taking the chain off the cam wheels ? Surely there must be a quick way of doing it ?

I think you needed to have undone the bottm bolt before undoing the top bolt, what happens when you undo the allen key bolt does the mount twist with it ? The rubber in the mount goes like sponge and is quite pliable so that bolt moving indicates how perished the rubber is in the mount.
-
Lots of people (including me) have gone for the Vibra-Technics mounts, as for the bolts just go to a Dealer the bolts are pence, and ive yet to find any bolts that are obsolete.
-
I hacksawed through the bushes horizontally, then poked them out. The front engine mount i would change while your there, as its the only one at the front it does take a bit of pounding, and will make a lot of difference. Those hose clips i use a set of mole grips on, but they do ping off easily, yours look a bit rusty so you may want to change those for jubilee's. I did the job your doing two years ago and i ended up taking everything off the front of the engine, cleaned, painted and then put back, i would pay close attention to the crack pipe and thermostat housing as these get brittle over time, also check underneath the slam panel for rust.

No car is ever going to be all things to all men, before i bought mine i was looking at Escort rs2000's, Lancia Delta Integrale, Crapi 2.8i, Triumph TR6. Apart from the Lancia i think i have the best handling one and the quickest, could you really live with the Lancia's fragility ? Its not all about the best handling/quickest car, i want to feel special and a part of the car when i drive my C and i do, unless you have a much bigger budget then its going to be all about compromise, and i dont feel im compromising much. I also hope to have my car as long as i possibly can, at least another ten years.
