  1. That's the one all right  I'm a sucker for a bargin - which in this game is very dangerous - reckon I might leave it be.....
  2. now now 'VR6' no need to be like that  - it was a geniune question which, due to my, and alot of other users on this site, lack of knowledge, was unaware of the many possible answers. I apologie for this, and will endevour to come back with a more detailed desciption.
  3. good morning people - just saw a C for sale at very good price for model, but it states, ''INTERMITTENT STARTING PROBLEM ONLY WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD''. Can I get some expert feedback as to; a. How big a problem is this b. How much to fix c. Would this be a'walk away from car now' issue? any help very much appreciated :notworthy: Cheers Iain
  4. here here - bought a Gleaming S3 last year - even though there was a frick'in tow-bar on it, driver door card was hanging off and the noise off the rear bearings :brickwall: The minute it rolled past me and parked up I was - 'right, I'm 'ave'n that'
  5. Storms also have colour coded front grill
  6. can anyone tell me what exact colour is the corrado in the first pic? Thanks
  7. cheers guys - £10! that's very acceptable indeed - having not been on the CCGB site since it's overhaul, it's very well laid out, and, as soon as I'm lucky (yes lucky, despite their little tantrums  ) to own a C, I'll be signing up for sure. :salute:
  8. Are there C's for sale on the CCGB website? How much is membership? Thanks
  9. suppose at the end of the day, if your happy with the power you've got then no worries. Side note: I do remember many years ago a feature in a car mag, not sure which one, and it showed a whole load of Corrado's being rolling roaded and gave the expected bhp figure, the actual fig on the day and the car's owners thoughts on his/her result. of the 15/20 cars done, standard non-moded VR's mainly, quite a few showed figures of just a itty bitty over 200bhp. This was, according to the writer at the time, to do with the engines been 'nicely run in' or 'very well looked after' etc etc. This is all very subjective obviously, but nice to know that some of the Corrado's out there may be showing improved figures. :D
  10. Cheers guys - i guess my fear was that I'll be half way back to Ireland with a VR punching way below it's weight  But as you guys said - it should be pretty obvious if it's way off the mark :salute:
  11. Just wondering what's the most common way of proving bhp on a used car your about to purchase. Does the AA or RAC 'Car Check' test cover this? I've heard stories of some VR's showing figures a good bit lower then 190.
  12. Two great reads - cheers guys - I'll be showing these to the wife in an effort to 'get her on side' for pending purchase. Like you said - if people just 'got it' it would be great......scrap that, it would be pooh, 'cus then.......shhhhhhh.... it wouldn't be our little secret :salute:
  13. this made me smile - it's what it's all about isn't it :) Anyway - just thought I'd share - I've absolutly no idea about good roads Bennie, I do know Ireland has thee worst ones in Europe though! :brickwall: Enjoy the drive mate
  14. No chance of getting an S2 for 5k. I was looking at them as I think they are brill but they hold their price so well. With 5k I'd throw in the two Skodas, I own a Octavia VRS and its very practical, very reliable, and the dealers ( well Fish Brothers Swindon) are fantastic. With 500 pounds chip upgrade gives it some serious torque. Or the little Fabia VRS same quality but with the added advantage of MPG For a very good straight one yeah, prob 5k be a little biddy low, or you could try and bargin the living sh!t out've this one! http://www.pistonheads.com/SALES/1176411.htm I think attempt at above link might be... :epicfail:
  15. S3 yeah, but stay away from Phase 1 model 1999 - 2001 (early). Factory re-call on rear axle joint, also they weigh a tonne and the 210bhp can be a bit of a dog at times, all just IMO obviously  . The later model with 225bhp is lighter and has the face lift chrome mirrors and rear lights. Personally, if not a C, then I'd be all over a 1995/96 Audi S2 Coupe with low milage. Stunning car.
  16. Toad / Richair - cheers for replies guys - very much appreciated - love this forum :luvlove: the 1996 black one via your link Richair looks VERY VERY tempting :norty: will try and post links of those that've caught my eye
  17. your right - pretty dumb post. It's just I value the thoughts of seasoned forum'er's quite highly. Having been there/seen that etc :salute: That black low miler is prob spot on, but unless their willing to do a Mike Ashley on it  , it's too rich for my blood.
  18. not sure if this thread will be allowed - but here goes... Just wondering if anyone knows the history/current driver of any of the current for sale VR6's? There's a tidy red one on autotrader 1995 with black leather and a blue storm on Pis'heads for 3,985 also the green supercharged VR 1996 for 3,995. Or midnight blue 1995 vr for 3,850 anyone here know these cars?? Care to PM a 'don't go near' or 'she's a straight car'. Let me know. If this seems a bit cheeky/naughty - u can lock it up
  19. ...and yet I'm still planning on buying a VR in a few weeks  Relevent stories 1. Sat on hard shoulder, steam piss'n out've the VR due to Heater Matrix deciding it was his time to shine 2. Having to climb in through boot in full shopping centre car-park as trusty door handles had had enough of 'shock horror'...being opened. 3. As above - the slow crawl at low 2000rpm to next service station to top up the hissing volcano that is the cooling system. Irrelevent stories 1. Stood in queue waiting to pay for 'go go juice' and looking out at your C and thinking, ''yep, best looking car here too' with a smile. 2. Checking out your cars reflection in high street shop window and thinking, damn, that's really me driving that car. 3. Or just cruising home - singing along to your fav song - feeling all comfy and...... ...shit, red warning light comes on :pale: Oh what the hell....SIGN ME UP!
  20. fair play Wendy - you must be stoaked - I just hope you didn't do a 'Mark Webber' show of emotion on hearing the result
  21. does this rule apply if the car is advertised for 4k, but I get it for say 3,600? Am I ok? Or do I have to spend 4k on the car - ie car was for sale at say 4,500 :confused4:  Your bang on though - getting a cheap VR is a recipe for disaster. I'm planning on spending similier figure on as near mint as poss. What do you call cheese that isn't yours? Nacho cheese
  22. No No No!! Don't say that :brickwall: I'm looking to get back into a VR and these thoughts are scaring the bejasus out've me. I keep thinking, after the last one, that the next one will be nice and well behaved, like the one's some of the guys post in here sometimes. ''oh yeah, sure I've had mine for 3yrs and only had to replace the wipers blah blah  ) Taking into account all the usual checks - Full VWSH, recent service, inside/outside in good nick, I'd always keep an eye out for these three items been ticked off: Heater Matrix replaced ABS Light working properly And proof of all chains/belts having been fixed Then I reckon it's ''lap of the Gods' time
  23. Just bought all three copies  So yeah, it is worth getting  Kid'n aside, yeah looks pretty straight up. Would save a sh!t load on garage bills for sure. I'd get one if I was anyway decent under the bonnet, I'm crap, so prob just make things worse  :D If it's real, and your handy with cars this could be a life saver
