  1. If the vehicle being towed has an engine, it is still classed as a motor vehicle and not a trailer, therfore if any wheel is on the road it needs taxing and insuring like any other motor vehicle. If the car was regarded a trailer, for a trailer with a weight over 750kg it needs to be fully braked on each on wheel touching the floor and also a working light board and number plate showing the towing cars registration. And the towing car must be heavier than the car being towed. there is information on the department for transport website that has all the laws and rules for towing
  2. I looked into this a while ago and yes if any wheel is on the road then it needs tax,mot and insurance. So only way of transporting without is on the back of a truck or trailer that lifts the car clear of the road
  3. As title, anybody got a drivers door in ice grey violet,in good condition. Mine has got some bad rust on the door shut area on the door.
  4. Yeah i would be very interested in this too. I have some SP 263'3 I am planning to put in and was hoping to take a trip to DG for the remap. So do i stick with the SP 263's or do i go DG cams?????
  5. Brilliant stuff mate. Going to be a an absolute minter when you are done!! :salute: and car parts on the sofa, good effort!! my missus would hit the roof!!!
  6. Yes no problem, if you are wanting the abs parts then i will have them going cheap as im breaking the entire car, all i want is the obd2 stuff, all the rest is being sold
  7. hmmmmm, interesting thread to me as i have got a '97 vr6 golf in my garage that i am stripping to get all the ob2 stuff out of. Today i was taking the exhaust off and I did notice that there was no bias valve on the rear axle and thought thats odd because the mountings were there for it. So the different abs system explains it. When i take the servo out and master cylinder i will investigate to see if it does differ from the corrado one.
  8. Yes thats the symptoms mine had. I would think that the alarm module will still have the two relays in so should have fuses to them. My alarm module was tucked up behind my glovebox, had to remove tray and glovebox to get to it. The fuses should be just in in-line fuse holders on the wires going into the box.
  9. do you have the scorpion 5000 alarm?? I had this exact problem, i changed the flasher relay as you are in the process of. Did not do a thing. There are 2 relays inside the scorpion alarm ecu box, it was one of these which was nackered. There should be 2 fuses though going into the box,one for each side. I simply pulled the fuse for the side that was stuck on and problem solved. The indicators still works as normal, it just wont flash when you arm/disarm the car. Hope this helps?
  10. Brilliant! Can get that one stripped off and blasted and painted, then just swap em over!
  11. Yeah i reckon it will be a long cold one too. And no i dont have a heated garage, will just have to wear more layers. I think the golf was a good purchase for the OBD2 bits alone really. Just had a closer look at the golf and it has a stainless decat and milltek system, gotta be worth £50. A question im wondering - Is the rear beam on the golf the same as the one on the Corrado??
  12. Well i have not had chance to mark any more items off my winter toi do list yet due to been extremely busy with work, very unusul for this time of year. But I cant complain about the extra cash though! :D And today i have just bought all the parts i will need for the OBD2 conversion so i can install over the winter period. The parts cost me £400, and came with a 1997 golf vr6 still attached!lol! Bottom end has gone on the car thats why it was £400, it still starts and drives but sounds like a jackhammer!!! I bought it on the basis that all the OBD2 bits i need are worth £300ish in todays climate and somewhat hard to come by as a complete set up. Then im sure i can get £100 back by selling bits of the golf. Its not in too bad condition really, i thought about putting a new bottom end in,as i have all the bits at home, but then the Corrado would not get OBD2 and also i cant be arsed!! Anyway heres what £400 of VW Golf VR6 looks like!
  13. Very nice! How you getting on with the back box mate?
  14. I have decided to do a bit of a overhaul on the underside of the Corrado over the winter. Also install OBD2 if i can get hold of the parts involved. I have a list of things i need/would like to do over the winter. I have made a start already. To Do List: -Refurbish Petrol Tank Straps (DONE) -Refurbish Speedlines (DONE) -Fit to car -Refurbish Rear Beam,New Bushes -Refurbish front Subframe,Wishbones.New bushes all round,New ball joints,New track rods -Overhaul Steering Rack -Try remove any rust on underside and then underseal over -Fit 263 cams and new HD Springs -Fit Wavetrac Im sure that lot will keep me busy for a while. I cant wait to drive it with all new bushes and back on the best wheels for the car!! I will keep up to this thread with pics and updates of the progress. Few pics of the refurbed speedlines.

    OBD2 Questions

So do you need to change the actual engine loom?? the one with the injector wiring on etc?? Im getting a little confused, going to be doing this conversion in the near future. I was under the impression it was just the fuseboard loom that needed changing.
  18. I love watching wheeler dealers, theres just one thing that bugs me and that is they never mention how many hours have been worked on the cars. Ed must put some serious hours in on some of the cars. With the labour costs and premises/workshop etc, the budget will be blown twice if not three times over!!
  19. sounds like the starter motor is jammed, get some one to turn the key and hold it turned and then hit the starter with something, like a pole or something. This may just shock it and release it. Happened to me thats how i know.
  20. viewtopic.php?f=11&t=73564&start=60 Theres a few prices i paid for bits when i did my rebuild. The rod bolts must be replaced, the arp's were cheaper than vag.
  21. Well its in the garage now, i think i will hold on to it but not going to go down the heavily modded route as i had planned to. I have just enquired about some awesome rims ive just seen!lol!! Might sell the wavetrac and my wheels to pay for them!!
  22. Definatley sound like a circulation problem if you are only gettin heat at higher revs, as above, probably the water pump, plastic vanes broken off - not providing correct delivery rate.
  23. PM me the drawing, ill take a look. If its a simple bracket made from angle or box section then i may be able to help you out.
  24. As jonny said, you need to measure the crank and make sure you have the correct shells. Buy some Plastigauge to check you have the correct tolerances.
  25. Tax has expired today so i have decided to SORN the corrado for the winter! I have hardly used it this year at all, Kind of losing the love for it to be honest. So thought it be best to save a few quid. Been thinking hard on what to do with it over the past month or so. I had big ideas for it but I have decided i am going to try keep it as standard as i can with just the few subtle mods. Then decide whether to sell it or not at a later date. I am going back to OEM exhaust manifold,Inlet manifold,HT Leads and refurb the speedlines and put them back on. The coilovers will stay for now as the OEM ride height is too high for my liking. So there will be a few parts in the for sale section soon, including a Wavetarc diff and fitting kit, and some brand new SP 263's.
