Brakes are a subjective thing, if you find that they don't match your driving style, racer or not, then no amount of servicing will keep them feeling great. I had standard brakes in my last Corrado and gave them hell from time to time, including quite a few Nurburgring laps! I never really had faults with them, they would always work, but then I would drive a modern car and realise how much of a poor feel they had with long term performance lacking. I made the jump to 312 brakes and instantly regretted it as I never fitted the braided lines and the spongy pedal would never go away. On my current Corrado, I have fitted 288 brakes (same caliper as 312) along with braided lines and the upgraded Teves20 system which has a slightly bigger servo and master cylinder and so much as I haven't driven it past the end of my Cul-de-sac and it needs a final bleed, the initial bite and feeling is already so much better than I have ever felt in a Corrado with any brakes, apart from big brake conversions that is! I'm sure fitting braided lines on a stock setup would make a marked difference and I don't think the standard system is up to having 5.1 put through it. I may be wrong and I often am, but I'm sure that 5.1 will rot the seals in the brake system. Good branded standard spec brake fluid will do wonders compared to cheap Halfords stuff!

I solved the glovebox problem on mine by getting the dremel out and removing the raised plastic moldings that run across it. These are what catch on the dash when you try to remove it. Makes future life so much easier!

The sparking is because it's drawing a high current so something in the glove box area must be shorting back to ground. Have a look behind the radio cage area, a few exposed sharp corners for stuff to rub on. This is one of the jobs you will just need to trace wires back with.

Well I sat down and dedicated some time this evening to read this thread all the way through. What an adventure and I definitely have exhaust and brake envy now! Mic, I doff my cap!

And just the way I like em! -
I'll do it for the same as Tom. Choices choices!

I've got one! I'm not quite in Leeds, but the other side of Lincoln. Happy to stick on a courier.

X Reg beetle? Import I'm guessing?

The only thing I never cleaned up when I rebuilt everything on mine was the starter motor and to be honest, you'll never know as everything down there is so covered up by pipes and wires!

Pilot sports have the thumbs up from me mic, I found they wore quickly though!

Definitely need the cup holder! I said MOST double dins look ridiculous, I've also said I like yours :thumbleft: It's a bit of a shame that the bottom of the centre console tapers in like they do, if they remained squarer for just another inch or so, then this would be so much easier to package!

This is the kind of look I'm hoping to achieve, only without the OEM headunit. I've just been looking for the right OEM style double din with sat nav in it. Unfortunately, most double dins look ridiculous!

I've said it before and I'll say it again, a family hatchback with the same bolt on mods and air isn't art or a worthy show piece. Looks ridiculous! I wish this current trend would go away. -
It's worth doing this mod just for cup holders!

Go easy on him clumpy, he's obviously got a budget and he looks like he would rather spend it on mechanical parts and not wheels. Unfortunately speedlines aren't really worth much and he's finding that out.

You got me thinking about my washer pipework now!

I remember fitting those sods! Never again! Plenty of lube required!

Cheers James, I'll go have a look!

Where did you find the battery jacket? Is it a standard thing or did you find it elsewhere?
-
Sorry just seen! Milton Keynes!

Where are you?

Corrado Part Duex - 24V Aqua Blue - She's gone.

Still have my weird non functioning indicator repeaters, changed the LED's and still having no luck! Not having much fun with the wiring diagrams either... Either way, managed to sort out a few other little things today. Only had the 2 LED's so I'm waiting for more to arrive next week and go from there. Whilst in there, I took this pic as I quite liked it :) That's all for now! -
You should be pleased! These conversions have been happening for 10 years or so and your the first person to apparently spot it :-P I wonder how accurate it is?

Fitted my pressure sensor adapter this evening to remove that annoying alarm, naff access and I had to remove the right hand side headlight to get one hand to it, but it worked and another box ticked off the list. Only thing i have noticed is that my indicators work perfectly well, but the repeaters on the cluster don't work at all. All works normally otherwise, just not the dash repeaters! Any ideas? Is this simply a case of new bulbs or have I got a bad relay? I've not dug out the diagrams to look at how it's all connected, but I thought I would try you lot first! -

You sound like a man who knows what a quality component is when you see it! This can only be a good thing! Lovely car, my favourite colour of all time on a Corrado.
