Have a look at my members thread for some subtle bumper vents.

I don't usually answer 'personal' threads on here but this one I have a bit of experience of! I am a couple of years older than my girlfriend so I went to uni while she was still in 6th form. I think it was more difficult for her, especially to begin with as I kind of had 2 lives and she only had the 1. What I mean by that is that I was going to places and meeting people that she knew nothing about. Whereas when I spoke to her, I knew all of the stuff she was up to. It is hard and if you don't 100% trust each other it's a waste of time. If you do then you can give each other some independence and not expect a long phone call everyday at the same time- she will probably be really busy and you don't want to make her feel like she's burdened if you are too clingy. My girlfriend went to uni while I was in my last year at the other end of the country and so she was the one with the new life then which I had to get used to. For the time being, my advice is keep in touch but don't be OTT and go to visit her in the next few weeks if you can- this will give you a picture of where she is and what she's doing when you speak to her in the future. It's also good to meet all her friends and socialise with them so you are not in a separate world from uni! And try really hard not to fight on the phone because it sucks when you can't see each other for another 2 weeks to sort it out face to face. If there's more good times than bad then stick with it and it should survive- we were living apart for about 6 years and we've just bought a house together so there's proof it can work!

Ye the boost is fairly low but no lsd. ---------- Post added at 5:19 PM ---------- Previous post was at 5:13 PM ---------- Ye it's all syncro stuff as far as I know. I'm sure I could well beat 20mpg, but it is a second car so only gets driven about once a week so I go for it :-) I had a bit more of a mess with it today and it feels like the gearbox as I could get it out of reverse without a load of rocking! -

It has been done twice in the last 3 years at different places but bear in mind that it's a standard VR gearbox in a 4 motion bellhousing. Funnily enough, just before I left Graham was warning me about the gearbox being underspec compared to the rest of the car! Especially with it being 4wd it's a huge force going through it. ---------- Post added at 5:11 PM ---------- Previous post was at 5:08 PM ---------- Where the symptoms similar to mine then? And how much was the repair? Maybe less than a new box :s -

Oh the irony! So the car sailed through the MOT without a single advisory. Has a full service and then I drive it all the way back to Shrewsbury. About 3 miles from home I go onto the A5 and put my foot down- BANG, CLATTER, CRUNCH. It was just able to drive slowly but there is a very loud rattling noise coming from under the engine, and it kept 'pulling back' if I went over about 2k revs. The only time the noise goes away with the engine on is if I put the clutch pedal down. I'm guessing the gearbox is dead. I pulled over and got recovered to home to avoid any more damage, and luckily my cover means I can get free recovery back to DG. Can't see anything out of place at the moment but it was really dark and wet when I last looked. I was really p****d off last night but feeling a bit better about it today- at least I haven't crashed it. A higher spec gearbox was kindof on the long term list anyway... -

Really? I thought it was one of those 'if it's there it must be working' things? -
I notice this has gone from Pistonheads now- did it sell?

MOT at DG on Monday!! I think everything is ok except the reverse light won't work for some reason, hopefully will be an easy fix. If all goes well I will be having the ECU tweaked and the boost turned up a wee bit :) -
What’s the weirdest EBay Feedback you’ve ever received?
jaded2882 replied to yacobwood's topic in Off-topic Chat
I bought something from a mate so left him feedback saying "May Allah make your loins fertile!" I guess so long as it's positive you might as well have some fun... -
I had the 2x drivers side TT wipers on my G60 and loved them- need to upgrade the VRT now. Just seeing if anyone has any 2nd hand ones lying around as I don't fancy paying 120+ from the dealer. Would also consider the Lupo upgrade.

That's a very tidy engine bay for a VRT- mine is a little more cramped!

Nice, lets see the bay! -
Sounds like CrazyDave's vrt. Saw a dark blue vr in Shrewsbury last Friday, heathgates area.

Not sure, I can have a look next time I see you as I know those uprated looms quite well.

To be fair to the OP, I have thought the same thing myself about the point the wheels lock up being the max amount of braking possible etc. etc. but there have been some very good explanations of the physics and benefits of bigger kit. Not sure where he's gone now, but at least I've learned something!

There's been a few up recently on the classifieds on here if you keep a look out. Do you mean is the MOT fussy on bulbs?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/S2-VW-CORRADO-GOLF-G60-DUMP-VALVE-KIT-/140835013027 Ignore the description as 1, it isn't a dump valve and 2, it doesn't change performance... The charger runs much cooler with it done though. I also put a little air filter where the boost was venting into the bay as it stops the nasty half throttle whistle.

Bigger brakes equals more surface area to cook bacon on when they're hot.

Just noticed a good pic of your car with me and Isla about to go onto the track. It's on the CCGB website on the top banner- http://www.corradoclub.org/ccgb16/
