  1. They were made by Momo Mike. I got spare parts for my wheel from them, I doubt very much if you will get a "BBS" centre for one now. I bought my parts some years ago now, but allways worth a try.
  2. The metal strip is held on by a number of self tapping screws that hold it onto the lower edge of the bumper and the top edge of the spoiler. The metal strip has to be firmly pulled away once all the screws are removed. This aside, if you want to get to the fog lamps the bumper does not require to be removed they can be removed for the bumper by taking out the indicator and the removing the retaining screws for the fogs.
  3. GSF can not supply genuine VW parts per say. They can however offer genuine quality, for example when ordering a part manufactured by Bosch, they too can sell you a Bosch part but it will only carry a one year warranty not two year garantee offered by dealer. In your case VW do not make wheel bearings, they purchase them in bulk from manufacturers like SKF. So indeed you can buy an SKF bearing from GSF it will be OEM quality and inevitably cheaper. The simple rule is be able to know what you require and who manufactured that which you are buying.
  4. Heater matrix is a standard part, furthermore it is now an upgraded component from dealer which is much more resistant to failure. If in doubt however buy a MK3 golf valeo Unit from GSF if you want a cheaper price but OEM quality. The job itself is not difficult just labour intensive, and involves removing the dash board to remove the heater box. Attention to detail is required to avoid annoying rattles behind the dash, post works. Also watch out not to damage fragile foam coverings on heater box flaps, to do so will cause directional airflow problems. I am based in Sussex but would hope you can rope in help.
  5. Your problem is a common one on Corrado, the adjustable wheel height pivot bearing is worn and there is no repair possible. You will require a replacement steering column. If you buy a used item make sure it it not in the same condition.
  6. Ron, only one thing to say about that ------- milk and sugar?? Look forward to seeing you soon. Have you got any plans in the bag for other Southern area meets. I want to get some miles in my Corrado this season, has been five years now since i got to enjoy some Corrado Summer time driving. Come on April 1st!!
  7. Thank you for calling me back yesterday Sam, it was appreciated and an opportunity to have a proper discussion. I do sincerely hope that from the number of folks on this forum we can muster 10 owners who can visualise the benifits of this modification, particularly if done in conjunction with a carbon bonnet and roof, which are both available from the same supplier. For my own part i have allready fitted the carbon bonnet and roof panel, and am wanting to complete the project with the tailgate. The Corrado is so often left out in the cold when it comes to dedicated performance bespoke parts in favour of the greater production numbers of Golf, here is an opportunity to make significant improvement to your Corrado without shipping parts from the States and taking a gamble on quality and couriers diligence to handling care. Performance Trim produce extremely high quality product, that has been properly moulded from OEM panels. Mike takes great pride in producing components that will serve their function well, compliment the vehicle to which they are fitted, and give long service life. So if you are running a track day monster, fast road daily or show car these carbon components have got to be on your list, so come on folks let's make this group buy happen.
  8. Hi John & Ron soz I missed yer, didn't call you as I had no signal! Look forward to April meet to catch up. Will be there in my Corrado next time.
  9. Nothing "to hand" at the present time. The S2 / RS2 manifolds are becomming harder to find nowadays, but are none the less out there if one digs around. Owing to the time it takes to research the availability of these manifolds i typically ask my customers to locate a manifold, and forward it to me for modification works. If you would like me to prep a manifold for your 16VG60 project i will be happy to talk details through more thoroughly. Depending on how you wish your build configuration to proceed there are many more specialist fabricatiomn tasks to be performed. Contact me on 07974020031 or 01903 718684
  10. The Scirocco 16V manifold, unlike any other 16v inlet, has it's throttle valve fitted on the right hand as one views the engine bay from the front. There is another, and better option in my opinion, which is to utilise a modified version of the Audi S2 / RS2 inlet manifold. I chose this route on my first generation 16VG60 back In 1995 and have kept it on all my engines to date. Unlike the 16V Scirocco inlet, it was designed for a forced induction engine.
  11. I have been talking to Mike for over a year now about getting him to produce a carbon tailgate, Indeed I spoke to him only just recently on this matter. I am very encouraged to have found this thread, and am happy to add my name to your number. I want a full carbon tailgate just as soon as can be done. Could I ask the person driving this proposal forward to please contact me to discuss details? Look forward to hearing from you.07974020031
  12. Well o managed to cut away some time in the end to call in to Goodwood this morning. Sadly did not see any of you guys. Was however treated to viewing some fantastic classic metal, assembled from the tax exempt theme of the day. Not so sure about the Honda NSX though?!! A couple of unexpected offerings with the Toyota and Tessla electric cars on display. Toys of the day had to be the two Xbows, both as mad as Helena Bonham-Carter. A good showing of 60's & 70's American muscle cars, including some 50's Chevies which needed all the road they could take! Love all these old girls as I do, the car that allways steals my eye is the Porcshe 911 993 of which there were enough present to make me want to go and buy one right now! If you missed this meet be sure to attend the next in April.
  13. Sadly for you my friend the simple answer is that you can not purchase this part. The rear window glasses come encapsulated with the rubber seals as a one piece item. Furthermore they are bonded in so any chance of salvaging the seal is scuppered by the removal process.
  14. 100% agree with the view expressed regarding swap back to OEM paper filter and airbox. Oiled type filters can cause many running faults with modern engines, I see this issue all the time with customers cars.
  15. Appologies folks but duty calls and I am needed to sort out a customers rally car this weekend, so sadly will not be at Goodwood this Sunday. Will look forward all the more to the April meeting when my Corrado be be back on the road.
  16. Thanks andy. John, hope to see you there, I have a customers Audi making moves to spoil my weekend at the mo, hopefully parts wlll arrive on time to give me the green light!
  17. Role on April 1st, the date i have set to tax my Corrado. Have been busy during the Winter months fettling my machine, and making a few changes for 2011 season. Can't wait to get back on the road, but equally as much the return of our sunny Sussex weather.
  18. Last reminder for the breakfast club meet at Goodwood this Sunday. If you have not been before and live within sensible commuting distance from Chichester, then it is well worth the effort to get out and about for an early gathering. Goowood allways attracts an amazing selection of distinguished marques, and the conversation is allways lively, this and full English, come on!! I will see you there.
  19. You most likely have a worn relector in the nearside headlight, if indeed all other elements have been checked. Ie bulbs, wiring, and connections.
  20. Looks like you could well have a degraded headlamp reflector in the nearside unit. This is of course working on the basis that the bulbs, wiring, and connectors are all ok. In daylight conditions look at the headlight reflectors and check that the "chrome" silverering Finnish is clean and bright. Not worn or appearing yellow.
  21. Joe at Trim Deluxe in littlehampton West Sussex has done some very good steering wheel re-trims for me. Can reccomend him very highly.
  22. I think you are getting a little confused? The old rear discs complete with the old rear bearings contained within are to be disposed of. The rear ABS rings can be carefully extracted from the old discs, but beware they are very easily distorted, and are then useless. It is better practice to renew these ABS rings also with the replacement discs. The new wheel bearing kits need to be pressed into the rear disc which have cast in bearing housings as part of their design. I hope this gives you a little more clarity.
  23. Great cars. S2 Avant offers performance and practicality. They are often looked down upon because of RS2 big brother, but this is false snobbery in my opinion. Pick the right example of this Audi and providing this is what you Want the you will not be dissapointed. We look after a number of these for our customers and all of them are well taken with their machines. Have a look on the S2 forum for more detail.
  24. Ok so progress being made, I bet you can start to sense a little relief! Using a ruler will be difficult to set up the depth measurement accurately, given that there is a nominal tolerance of less than 0.5mm!! You could use a cheap vernier calliper, which would not be a wasted investment as they are extremely handy measuring tool. Don't overlook the fact that the height measurement is taken from the point at which the metering head seats upon the airflow plate. This point is often the alloy lugs cast into the surface of the airflow plate. This adjustment is only a start up setting, the CO% will need to be adjusted by way of an exhaust emissions analyser. The timing should be ok, unless this has been tampered with. The idle speed will need a little attention throughout the dynamic set up process. Not sure where you are in the country but I would be able to sort this for you or indeed any suitably equipped garage could do the same. But either way the actual dynamic set up process is a garage task, unless you have very diverse tooling as a hands on owner / maintainer? If you require further guidance, am happy to help.
  25. You say you have fitted a new airflow meter, was this new or a used part? Was this the airflow plate only or did it include the metering head? If you have fitted just the airflow plate assembly and transfered your metering head onto it, then you will need to set the critical clearance of the airflow plate roller bearing, onto which the metering head plunger sits, with relavance to the airflow plate deck height, at which point the metering head makes contact. If this measurement is incorrect the basic fuel CO setting will be too far out to allow start up. Off the top of my head, it's been a while since I had to set up one of these but I think the clearance is 21mm.
