Welcome to Corrado, world your life and bank ballance will never be the same again!! Great cars, classic styling, beautiful handling------ enjoy. Bought mine back in 1993 and have loved every moment ------ well Perhaps with one or two exceptions!!

I use inpros with virtual daylight HID kit, this allong with my own wiring loom upgrade makes up possibly one of the best practical upgrades on my Corrado. Quite simply great lighting in all conditions, a vast improvement over the standard captive embers! Styling wise I love the black Inpro angel eyes angainst the dark coach work. Can't post a pic as Taptalk won't allow at the mo :-(.

Sounds like you may indeed have your ABS system being activated, I have experienced this before when there is a fault with the air gap between wheel speed sensor and rotor. This can be caused by deffect or dirt or other foreign body caught in the rotor. A worn wheel bearing, or insecure wheel speed sensor. It would help you to diagnose this fault if you can scan the ABS ECU for stored fault codes. Is the ABS warning light staying on beyond the self check period of a couple of seconds post ignition on? If the ABS is being activated you will feel a rapid pulsing sensation in the brake pedal, like stepping on a jack hammer is a quote I was told once!

Sorry my detail was not as full as possibly required, I was trying to avoid writing an essay. Clearly a mod of this kind will involve a complete rebuild of the engineering to allow compression ratio correction and clearancing. After having seen that you own a G60 Iain your proposal would imply the building of a 16VG60, great fun but not a project for the faint hearted. As I have told so many before, this build if done properly will cost you dearly and bewider you with construction options. If you do opt this mod I can however garantee you the most amazing drive, accompanied by a sound track that would make Cerberus turn tail and run!

Best you do Iain, this tuning thing is a disease that stays with you for life, the satisfaction earnt from each phase lasts right up until you realise " it could be just a little faster" or " I could make it a little more lighter" I was diagnosed a terminal case years ago, my wife has tried to exorcise the deamon with little impact! The only advice I can give you is be honest about what you really want to achieve, do your research well, and spend your money wisely. Good luck cos it is all worth the effort, well tuned Raddos are a blast!!

It is a straight swap in terms of bolt pattern, oil ways and coolant channels. Beyond this things are different, but all readily adaptable. The cam belt is wider for the 16V, so you will require all the 16V cam belt pulleys. The distributor fitment in the 8V block will need to be plugged. The 16V coolant outlet on the front of the head will require different hose alignment, and so on. As to which head to use it all depends upon what you wish to achieve by this mod'. On my 16VG60 engine I use a much modified KR head, fashion of late has made the ABF heads very popular. Hope this is of assistance to you.

Sadly it is not possible to isolate the crank or shaft seal as the cause of a leak by observing directly these items. There is no "observation hatch" that can ne removed, but however if you have access a snapon endoscope then you could check the first motion shaft seal by removing the clutch slave cylinder, thus leaving an access point into the bell housing. The crank seal is completely obscured by the flywheel. Normally the diagnosis on such issues would be done by logic. So if you have a contaminated slipping clutch and oil is visibly found within the bell housing by removing the lower tin plate flywheel cover, it is fair to assume the seal/s are compromised. In any case the clutch is going to have to be changed if it is contaminated. What is it that makes you think these seals are a potential problem?

I have had Milltek sport cats fitted on all of my cars that so required a cat to be fitted and have had very good service and no MOT emissions issues whatsoever. Furthermore I have fitted Milltek sport cats to a huge number of VAG cars from Golfs to RS6 and allways seen improved performance and compliant emissions. I'll let Kev have a good rant now :-).

My advice would be to fit the OEM metal gasket. Don't waste your time with the other options.

Well done first of all for buying the best flavour Corrado :-). Your oil light issue could be due to a number faults. Firstly check your oil level. Next check the wire to your oil pressure sensor is secure and not loose. The remaining checks require workshop tooling to check actual oil pressure. This will tell you if the sensor is faulty or if the engine has a fault in generation of sufficient oil pressure. The oil pumps do wear on these engines but normally the fault is permanent and not intermittent as you describe. If you are totally lost am happyto guide you throughthat which is required. Happy hunting!

Vac hose is available by the metre from dealer part number N 020 353 27. It is best to buy 2 metres and then measure the exact length for yourself. The teason for this is some parts guys can cut a little too short and this is no good to you.

Abdul - the exhaust follows the same route as OEM item but is built totally different. The 4 into one manifold terminates with an overbraided flexi joint, and three bolt triangular plate. The cat is deleted at the front part of the system, and continues from the manifold as a single component shaped pipe which includes an extended length straight through resonator section. The over beam pipe links into the tailbox, with has been contructed internally as a splitter silencer with twin exit. the pipe for the offside passes neatly between the spare wheel well and rear vallence. The systen is built from the largest bore pipe that could be used without clearance issues to therein improve extraction.

I made my own air ducts for my car, I have modified the Inpro indicators and fogs. I have cut out the fog lamps, leaving behind the frames. I then sourced a pair of abs plastic rectangular air ducts, and trimmed these to fit. The ducts were then plastic glued into the frames and prepped ready for painting with plasticised gloss black. The purpose of this was to feed cold air into a custom made lightweight alloy bumper iron which I made. This ducts the air directly to the radiator eliminating the need to cut out the number plate mounting. It also served to reduce significantly the weight of the heavy OEM bumper iron.

Totally agree, I have been changing many parts with new genuine items to give my Corrado max service life. Furthermore I am starting to stock up on parts to ensure I can keep my beastie running well into the future. I am a Corrado specialist and we find all too often that we are unable to source certain parts readily for these cars. Only the other day we found we need to replace a front subframe and it was discontinued. My advice is take good care of what is fitted and stock up on essential parts to cover future maintenance.

Thanks, and you yours. Long tome no see, will I be seeing you at Goowood on 5th bud?

The part you have discontected is the ABS pump motor. If this is continuously running then the ABS system indeed is same. Most likely a relay fault. Both ABS relays are located behind glove box under the dash. A VAG com scan would not go a miss either. Other things could cause this but investigation will be the only way out.

You are right in your thinking, the stat is located inside the black plastic housing fitted on the right of the engine at the front, and has three senders in the housing. The stat housing is fitted by way of three 5mm headed Allen bolts. If you are removing this part be advisedi that they are well known to become distorted through time and be prepared to replace it with new. If this is the case I recommend fitting all new parts for reliability including the transfer pipe from the water pump to stat housing.

Hi Andy thanks for providing the donor roof shell to make the mould for my carbon fibre roof, photos of my car never show the full detail on the carbon panels they tend to blend well with the Inca Blue bodywork. The part I like most about the roof panel is that we decided to modify the mould to delete the rubber roof strips, but to retain the channels that run down each side and make them slightly wider to compensate for the roof strip deletion. This helps panel rigidity, and affords the roof better cosmetic form. Your old non sunroof headlining I had repaired and recovered in black fabric, and it looks factory fit now along with black visors etc. Hope to see you at Goodwood on 5th December.

Here's my favourite 16V tuning mod, one I prepared earlier for a cucstomer.

Some shots of my interior, what's left of it anyway, to be found in the members gallery. I was partly inspired by the 968 Club Sport interior

I have had a B&M short shift on my 16VG60 for the last 6 years now. They are pretty straight forward to fit and certainly do reduce the throw on gear shift significantly. Only pain with mine is that no matter how many times I try to set up the adjustment it still gives very little room For definition between selection of 1st and reverse. It is possible indeed for the unfamilliar hand to select reverse instead of 1st! Not the best way to introduce yourself to strangers!! Good piece of kit but could be great if I could sort this, although I have the measure of it these days and it very rarely plays up.

Hi Yan, yes mate a full on carbon fibre addict now, and am seeking to duplicate as many panels as i can to better the power to weight ratio. Trying to resist fitting a turbo and keep her G lader powered, so weight loss will help the fun factor. The gear ratios are great, for that which i have experienced. Have not really wound her up yet, as am running in the new mill, but the drive is much changed for the better and it promisses to have made a significant improvement. I hope to be able to get more running time in before the tax expires at the end of December and hibernation season comes round again

Cheers Bruny, my exhaust draws so much positive attention, and yet when i developed it years ago now alongside Milltek, we offered it out for our retail business as an upgrade and no takers :confused4: . Hey just found that video of my car, albeit in a previous guise, departing the West Sussex Club GTI meet at The Fox pub in Patching. It is a short clip filmed by my mate John Wintle, and at the time served purely to amuse. Watching this after so many years has shown me how much my Corrado has changed, might even film a re-run with the car in current spec :norty:

Thanks for the compliments guys great to receive such a warm response. aide, sadly the link you refer to is lost to me, but am making enquiries to possibly reprint the footage, as it was a mate of mine that made the original recording. big ben, CF roof just had to be done with a weight reduction of another 27kg and no more pointless sunroof. "nutter" deffinately, especially when on a mission to improve power to weight ratio. CF under tension every bit as strong as steel, roll cage fitted just in case she does become inverted! Mimjed, still running in the new engine which I fitted on Nov 4th, so no rolling road stats as yet. If the old engine is a base mark then this one is not going to dissapoint!

Hi all, have been on this forum since its beginning but have never had a great amount of time to allow the levels of participation that others achieve. As an upshot of that my car is probably relatively unknown, so here's a short introduction. Have been a Corrado owner since 1993 when i bought my G60. Back then it was a one owner car with 19K miles on the clock and one of the first right hand drive G60's in the UK. In those days it was an "H" plate and completely stock. I bought it from a salvage yard, as G60's in those days were out of my reach finacially. The damage she had was of little actual consequence, but because of stupidly expensive genuine parts it was written off. I sourced a bonnet, wing, front panel and headlight, and after one week at a mates bodyshop she was A1 again. If it had been a Ford "whatever" there would have been no quibble over a repair on insurance, but i was not complaining as i was running around in a two year old supercharged coupe well before my time :D . Since those days my Corrado has metamorphosed into the 16VG60 beastie you see in the pics, and allong the way has been subject to a series of modifications as and how the mood took me. I have never owned a standard car, well not for very long anyway, and this was certainly no exception. Much to my long suffering Wife's dismay, the first mods were going on within one month of getting it back from the bodyshop. This was after telling her "i would be very happy with it supercharged alla VAG" :nono: . Whilst i appreciate that modified cars are not to everyones taste, and i can sense the purists boiling allready  , I didn't build this car for any other than myself. That having been said it's allways nice to receive recognition for ones hard work, and I allways appreciate the virtues of well cared for unfettered machines. The only problem i have is that i can't leave 'em allone, i get bored and have to play :norty: . I love tyhe timeless styling of the Corrado and even more how they respond to the loving attention of a die hard petrolhead. I think this one will become a familly heirloom, cos i'm not selling her.
