  2. No, it wont if the noise is on the power supply, and not on the earth - ie coming from the altenator.
  3. On papaer, that wont fix it. Ground loop is a fixed hum that is a result of two different grounds, in the same system being at different potentials. The changing hum, reletive to engine speed, is a result of an AC componented frequency, sitting on the 13v DC level. You need to block the AC components, which is what the induction loop does. The altenator has an induction looop built in, but these can degrade with time. As G60Jet rightly says, it is about £5 for brushes, and same again for the noise supressor. That said, u know what its like with raddos.......the wire will probably fix it! lol

  5. Here are some pictures of the car at Knochill in Fife, and Curborough in Engerlandshire. I dont have any good shots of the car at Kames unfortunately - does anyone have one?? The CF and Club GTi track night was on Thursday 16th May 2004, laps were not timed. The Club GTi National track day was at Curborough near Birmingham, on Saturday 17th July, best lap I managed was 31.52 seconds. (Pic taken by MK1 Driver, Club GTi, from album hosted here)

  9. Aye west coast is good! I love the drive from the top of Kintyre right up to Fort William, and across to The Snek. I am a Wicker, so am a pro at the golspie - Wick road!
  10. They cant be that much! Even for the Plus type wishbone surely not?. mine were £36 each and come with the new bushes already in them, front and rear! Admitantly, these are the mk2 golf type wishbones.
  11. very much! I dont know the term, but AFAIK the frotn brakes can be adjusted by ABS independantly, the rears are done together.

  13. Not all g60's have ABS; Biggrim's doesnt, its a J plate. If you dont have ABS you need to get your toolbox out, if you do have ABS you need to get your toolbox out twice!!! The rear brake bias adjuster, on the left side of the rear beam. If your car is lowered, you have to adjust this to make it come on earlier, it is also worth checking htat your handbreak cables are not stiff, causing the brakes to be on a little already, before you plant your foot on the pedal.

The steeler in Edinburgh was telling me yesterday of a fire damaged vr that needed £10k repairs on it......its at reg vardy, seafeild road edinburgh, dont know if this info is of any use as i am not sure a random punter can say " I'll have it" but, just incaase! Good luck in your new home! (Can I interest you in a mk2 rocco storm????)

    grim...u r totally correct. I would put a new spade on anyway...and possible cut back the current wire and renew the end if its looking crap

Just had a thought, my be a little crazy....but why dont you put in long wires attatched to the battery terminals that can be coiled up stored behind the bumper, if ur battery goes flat, you can pull these out so you can hook up jump leads, to get the doors open, then use the jump leads in the normal manor. As long as you remember to NEVER jump the car off these tail pieces, you could use pretty thin, and easily store-able wires. This also leaves the car totally secure, as you still need the key/fob to open it, but it does depend on an external power source (a scooter battery in you r back pack would also suffice to get the doors open!!!)

  21. i wouldnt recomend doing it in one session, for the reason that the oil on the inside of the block insists on dripping! Appart from making you a bit messy, if it gets on any sealing faces while you are putting it back together its a wasted job. I left mine without a sump overnight so the oil could drip all it wanted, and was fairly thick , giving me time to clean up the sealing face, and the inside of the block, and get the sump back on without oil getting in the seal. The down side to doing it over two days, is that you are really stiff on the second day!!!! Make sure you use a mini torque rench too, so that you can acurately set the torque, if its too tight or too loose, guess what happens! I did it on my golf with the same toqure wrench i use to do the head bolts, and although 15lb/ft is within the range, it is not so accurate at the extremities of its limits of operation, and it leaked.
  22. pop out the bottom ball joint and pull the hub toward you.....this is what I would do, but I am not siting on front of your car just now! if u do this, u need to watch the drive shaft dosnt come out of the outer cv and damage the boot. HTH *EDIT: if u have already done what kev said, then I am not sure what the problem is, the DS should just fall out.

  24. Kames is a once a year event....... the others can be done at other points through the year - That would swing it for me. Although that said........ if u are a gold member of East Ayrshire car club, the people who own Kames, you can book the complex for the day for free!
