    isv re-route.

in bullet poitn form..... [1] car happy.... no pinking, no bleeding from isv [2] u boot it, engine pinks knock sensor hears it, ecu says " a-ha" [3] ignition timing retarded a bit [4] listens for knock...... if its all good, it lets the timing go back to norm if its bad, it retards a bit more [5] still pinking - bleed boost [6] all good - back to norm stel g60our MPG is low enough, without the car doubling fuel delivery just cos u have been sitting in traffic for 10 mins!. Remember the digifant is a compromise of a whole load of problems..... economy was probably the thing that swayed it in the direction they went.
  2. yes, i have played about with the wot switch, and had the complete tb stripped as it was a bit sticky...i know for a fact return b/f is 100% closed, and that throttle b/f is 100% open
  3. Here is a copy of my last power run - two runs done back to back..... the peak power is 152bhp.... which is way down. That is after having the cleaned injectors put back in..... Next step is to get a garage to do some proper diag on fuel pressure/boost/knock sensor/timing.. unless there are any other ideas?

    isv re-route.

Was talking to G60Racing about this today .... just thought i would ressurect it as it is pretty useful!
  5. I have been wasted by this golf at the hands of Craig the old owner! coming back from a CGTI meet in Dunfemline..... Have a check under the rear number plate.... I seem to remember noticing something while craig was changing the plates from Wullies private ones to the current reg..... if it is starting to rust a little, its worth sorting asap, especially if its a keeper! Nice buy!
  6. Hi mate I do get occasional rubbing between the outer wall of the rear tyres and the lip on the inside of the arch. I have 7.5x16 et25 wheels, and 215/40/16 rubber. The suspension is Leda coilovers with 250lb rear springs, which is probably harder than any kit has. I am lowered at the rear by no more than 40mm. I think you will deffinately have problems at the back..... the std suspension might be a bit flappy to keep those wheels under control. HTH
  7. caster isnt adjustale on any mk1 or mk2 based chassis, and i am certain the same applies for mk3.
  8. i got the brochure through..... but £150 is really expensive.... at knockhill, i get a whole saturday for £45.... it makes it hard to want to pay triple that for a circuit i have got to drive 250 miles plus to get to!
  9. only 3 left if anyone is thinking about one....
  10. here are a few pics of a broken one.....although this isnt the way that they normally fail! One of the pairs of dampening springs have burst out of the friction plate, so clutch wasnt too happy with the idea of disengauging. What is happening to your clutch does sound familiar, although my golf only did it for a matter of a few months, not for 6 years! If the friction plate material wears really thin, the bolts/rivits that are on the friction disc can swell up when they get hot, and stopped the clutch realeasing 100%.
  11. I hope u dont hav ethe same as me! My clutch pressure plate gave up while i was getting a power run done on the rollers on friday. Clutch wouldnt dissengauge enough to select a gear, had to start the car in gear. Do you gear select nicely when the engine is off? Good luck
  12. Hi all, Just got a few of these babies imported for your driving pleasure! EIP Solid Aluminium engine mounts. These are a must for anyone with Tubular manifolds, and a deffinate plus for those without, to help keep all those ponies tied down. Will fit all Mk2 Golf/Jetta 1.6 upwards including nayone with 20vt conversion, all 4 cylinder Corrados, and 35i Passats. £68 + p&p. Availabe Now PM or email me.
  13. i am about to get a batch of EIP solid mounts in from the states.... I cant confirm price yet, but according to the UPS tracking site they are in Derby, so I will know how much tax i have to pay within the next few days. I am sure they will be less than any other solid mount available, so it would be worth waiting. FS thread will be posted once I have the price confirmed.
  14. there are eip engine mounts in transit to me.......they will be for sale soon - the end of the week at the latest.
  15. I have a few of variuos sizes.....happy to MSM it to anyone that wants. On track at Kames, Club GTi Scottish day On track at Curborough, Club GTi National day On track at Knockhill - random track night (VERY wet!) a few others...
  16. if u want a proper track car....i beleive u can pick up polo g40 cup cars for around that budget, I think i saw one at about £4k in the later part of lst year.... they already have full roll cages in. The g40 is a much safer track car than the g60, from the charger perspective......g40's can handle sustained high revs for longer cos they are smaller.
  17. i take it the water is deffinately coming from the join in the two halves of the waterpump body? and not just from a hose or the metal pipe that runs along the front of the engine? I would dispute the charger needs to come off..... power steering pump deffinately, but iirc i did take the charger bracket off, only to find i didnt need to
  18. I'll second that. Except they are in the middle of straightening out some the road immediately north of helmsdale...... that was one of the best bits! Why do they insist on doing that?
  19. it deffinately inst the cam belt. its the charger belt, and it is coming from the altenator pulley i can sort of feel the whine trough the plastic gaurd. gonna take the belt off to see if the pulley has rusted or anything - would the altenator whine if the bearings were shafted in it? would it still work fine in this situation?
  20. i seem to have a constant whine just now, that sounds a bit like a toothed charger drive belt only quieter. all parts (tensioner, belts, charger) on that side of the engine have been there for 13 months/14k miles; ps pump and belt replaced in the summer. I had a listen today, and think its the altenator, but i am not convced. Will try a wee bit of wd on the cam belt tensioner.
  21. I have been running A539s for a while now, I got 4 on my 16's when i put them on the car. I have covered appx 11.5k miles sinse then, and have been on the track for around 6 - 8 hours in total. I have replaced i have repalced 2 in that time. IMHO that is very very good, and at £63 fitted per tyre, i have absolutely no complaints on the mileage to price ratio. On the roads they are a bit unpredictable in the wet, but what u need to remember is that its not just water u r driving on.....its all the deisel and shite that the water brings to the surface, its a difficult point to make correctly.....I thought they were very good while i was on the track at kames in june, that was very wet, with a lot of standing water in braking areas and also on corners. The only tyre I have run that was better int he wet was the Michellin pilot exhaulto, and they are not far off twice the price. But what ever your opinion.....they are obsolete now so it doesnt matter
  22. all lights inc headlamp aim rubber boots on suspension and steering joints and cv joints rear break bias adjuster door handles all exhaust hangers in reasonable cond. these are things that have tripped up the rocco and golf when i have had them tested in the past
  23. I can only begin to imagine how anoyed you must be at yourself....... I am usually a responsible driver, sure i have an enthusiastic right foot, but tonight, i got suckered in by a spotty yoof in a maxed out 206cc. he was sittinig right up my tail until a set of lights, then pulled up my inside, the lights turned i gunned it a little, but thought, I am right in the middle of edinburgh, best not go fast. I stopped accelerating at 35, and he went off ahead. I pull across to the inside lane, to trundle on home, to find another car shoot past me, it was a fast mondeo estate thing. I thought woah, he is keen....cept it was a unmarked police car. I got a bollocking, and got away with giving the guy my details. The bit the anoys me, is I went out a run in the car to laugh at the boy racers and lax power cars, and ended showing myself up. I am dissapointed and annoyed with myself - i gues it must be 100 times worse in your shoes.
