New tax rules. Thinking of selling. Panic or not ??
Dox replied to feeenix14's topic in General Car Chat
Well I'm in this dilemma already, the vehicle is 200 miles away (and has a private plate and outstanding finance to add to the complexity of the sale), the simple solution would be to allow insurance companies to sell road tax so a call to your ins co to add the vehicle to your policy and tax at the same time, too simple for the law makers / MPs I suppose.................................. -
You can bypass it with plumbers copper fittings, just wear a coat in the car

If its a real storm there's a lad here who keeps records of there whereabouts and owners, his name escapes me atm Start a thread with the reg number and storm in the title would be my advice

But if they buyer were to be involved in an accident or violation on the way home where would he stand? He has no tax, you cant sell it and you wont quite rightly post date the V5. The only way around it is that the seller delivers the car after the buyer views and pays a deposit for the car? As always ill-conceived and only affects the law abiding.... They couldn't run a bath let alone the country -
Well enough of these cars need uprated headlamp looms due to voltage drop, I suspect the engine and ABS looms suffer exactly the same in this respect. If it was mine I'd clear the codes, disconnect the battery for a few hours before a varied drive stopping and starting the engine several times before rescanning without interfering with anything. You'll create a "ghost code" every time you unplug something whilst the engine is running throwing you off the scent. Check for a spark at all 6 plugs and a compression test would be a good move too
-
Have you checked the condition of the various plugs on the engine loom?

The callipers and carriers could also be used to upgrade a 4 stud 256mm car to 280mm using G60 disks. Bargain at £30 GLWS

So as a seller would you be willing to post date the V5? What about if the buyer then runs a red light or gets a speeding ticket (it happened to Mr Lobitos shortly after the sale). If its non transferable then you're driving illegally and should the worst happen what then? -
I've got one on the shelf ready for when I swap engines over, done by hotgolf on CGTI (I just put a wanted ad on there), I think its 3KG lighter, but the weight is removed from the outer edges of the wheel where it has most effect. It should rev quicker, the downside is it should be a little lumpier and easier to stall - not a big deal for low mileage use
-
Looks great :) Have you considered a lightened flywheel?

There's a bit of paint off one corner, no deep grazing though.

The front slam and rads etc are different too (as well as the previously mentioned crossmember and maybe rack etc?). These cars are cheap enough to buy, building one doesn't make sense? They're difficult to sell on too and I suspect a non genuine VR would be even more so. I've bought 2 VR6s off this forum for less than £1K each, one completely standard with leather runs and drives the other a Storm has a goosed engine. Good luck if you go a head with it :)

And then you find its a badly described POS after you've put it on policy and taxed it too, where as the old system its just a phone call to put it on policy once you've inspected the car and done the deal. I've previously bought cars from Sunderland, Harrogate and the Isle of Man, so I speak from experience -

It will be interesting how much of a premium the add for monthly D/D payments. IMO the impact as always will be on the law abiding in society, the scroats still wont pay tax or insurance! -
