  1. I wouldn't put my face near that battery if its getting hot, its not unknown for them to exploded spraying battery acid everywhere, eye protection is a must and I'd drape something over the battery when working on it with the bonnet open
  2. Why not compare the costs of boring and honing a 2.8 block and using your 2.9 pistons with a hone only one of your blocks?
  3. Why not just take both blocks to the engineering co and ask them to check both blocks and hone the best? In another thread Kevin Bacon said VR blocks have to be honed in a certain way to prevent oil burning so it may be advisable to seek out someone who knows these engines?
  4. If you just want a rough guide cut a length of soft alloy (so as not to mark the bores) to length with sharpened ends (like a pencil) and gently rounded tips.
  5. No mate, its quite flimsy and I've got nothing big enough to package it with, I have a rear bumper too free to collector

  7. They'll also fit VR6s (including early mk3 Golfs / ventos with 280mm disks)
  8. You'll need to state whether you need a slam for a 4 cylinder car or a vr6 and with the dash you need to say whether its an early or late car.

    Laquer on windscreen

I had similar with a respray on a MK3 VR6, I ended up using a scraper (the type that holds a Stanley knife blade) and it came off like ice on a frosty morning http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vehicle-Car-Application-House-Office-Window-Cleaning-Scraper-Tinting-Film-Knife-/291190247311?pt=UK_Hand_Tools_Equipment&hash=item43cc4a8f8f
  11. Is that the correct orientation of the relays? I thought mine (from memory) was 79 on the left, 179 middle and 179 right? When mines working (mostly when the engine bay is warm! restarting after 5 miles or so) they do click, they fail to click when the light stays on the dash.

  16. If you fill the front and rear tow hooks wont you need to cut off the hooks themselves? If so how can you go back?
  17. If its cellulose paint you may be able to remove the top coats with cellulose paint thinners on rags. What are your plans with the bumpers? :)
